The McLaughlins were Loyalists from New Hampshire. Samuel and Hannah McLaughlin's daughter Emily Mc Laughlin m. James Chubbuck whose great grandfather was James Chubbuck a Rev, Veteran from Hingham MA who moved to Perry ME,(see 1790 Census). His son James Chubbuck m. Sarah(Sally) Stoddard, probably daughter of Nathaniel Stoddard . They lived in Charlotte ME. Their son Martin Chubbuck m. Jerusha Frost and their son James Chubbuck married Emily McLaughlin dau, of above.
Their daughter Flora Chubbuck married George Severance and was my grandmother. She told me that Emily McLaughlin Chubbuck smoked a pipe. My father told me that afterJames and Emily had 14 children, they separated. Each lived with a different grown child and they didn't speak! My father said that when he was a little boy he had to deliver nasty notes back and forth. MILLINOCKET – Dorothy M. "Dot" Pound, 97, wife of the late Tully J. Pound, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009, at her granddaughter's home in Millinocket. She was born Feb. 9, 1912, in Millinocket, daughter of William and Matilda (Barnett) McLean. Dot was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket. In her younger years, she was an active member of the Plus & Minus Club and VFW Women's Auxiliary. Dot had a passion and skill for knitting, which kept many of us warm. She was an avid reader, a great card player and a witty storyteller until the end. Dot took great pride in her flowers and with the help of her granddaughter, Roberta, she enjoyed them every summer. She is survived by her son, Robert Pound and his wife, Rose, of South Meridan, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Roberta Oakes and partner, Danny McAvoy, of Millinocket, Robert Pound Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Colebrook, Conn., Linda Trabold and husband, Kurt, of Fredrick, Md., Kim Novatko and husband, Bruce, of Tampa, Fla., Kevin Pound and wife, Emily, of Daytona Beach, Fla., Keith Pound and wife, Audrey, of Wilson, N.Y, and Kenneth Pound and wife, Cathy, or Torrington, Conn.; two siblings, James McLean and Nadine Doe, both of East Millinocket; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who brought her many joys throughout the years. In addition to her husband, Dot was predeceased by two sons, Tully Pound Jr. and Norman Pound; and five siblings, Richard McLean, Clayton McLean, William McLean, Ruth Comeau and Margret Nickless. The family thanks the many people who made it possible for Dot to live in her home comfortably, Brenda Tapley, Gale Brooks, Jackie Carter, Francis Megno, In Home Care, hospice and Katahdin Area Support Group. Friends are invited to visit with the family 5-8 p.m. Monday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. East Millinocket - James Edwin "Mac" McLean, born in Millinocket September 7, 1944 to James and Pauline (Runnells) McLean, died November 30, 2001 at a local hospital at the age of 57. Jim graduated from Schenck High School in 1962 and played many sports including basketball, volleyball, and ping-pong, with baseball being his favorite sport. While a youngster, he was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Little League. He was an excellent fly fisherman, a sport he enjoyed with his father on trips to Sourdnehunk Lake. He was also a champion pool player. Shortly after graduation from high school, he joined the Air Force and took basic training at Lackland Air Force Base and later served at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. Jim managed the Bird Toucan Lounge at the Chalet Motel in Lewiston then later expanded his business to the Blue Parrot Café in Harrison when he was forced to retire due to illness. Jim is survived by his parents of East Millinocket, one daughter, Crissa of Sebago, two sons, Manny and his wife Kelly of Cato, New York, James E., Jr. and wife Dawn of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, four grandchildren, Jessica Louise, Ryan, Lindsey Ann, Taylor Ann, and a step grandson, Luke. Jim will be sadly missed by uncle Kenny who spent many hours with him during his illness, also aunts, uncles, cousins, and a special friend, Drew, along with many other friends. Friends may call at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 17 Western Avenue, East Millinocket from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, Sunday. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, December 3, 2001 at the First Congregational Church of East Millinocket. Spring burial will be in East Millinocket Cemetery.
