The French meaning of Bacheiler is young man; if used with "bas plus
chevalier the meanning is an "inferior knight; or if used with "le" it
distinguish 2 men of same given name. The name Bachiler is found in Surrey,
Sussex Co., S.E. England. At least 7 Bachelder came across in the 1600's;
some were brothers: Alexander of Portsmouth, N.H., Rev. Stephen of Lynn,
Henry of Ipswich, Joseph & John of Salem, William of Charlestown & John of
Watertown. Rev. Stephen, at age 20, attented St. John's College, Oxford
receiving a Bachlor of Arts in 1585; in 1587 he was Vicar of Church of Holy
Cross & St. Peter of Whoreall in Hunts until 1605 when he was
excommunicated. He came across in 1632 aboard the "William & Francis" along
with Gov. Edward; his daughter Theodate sailed with him & they settled in
Lynn, Mass. where Stephen became a Freeman in 1635; he moved to Newbury,Mass
in 1638, then to Hampton, N.H. & finally back to England were he died in
London.

4, 1642, dau. of Michael bacon,one of theoriginal inhabitants of
Woburn. Second, at Cambridge, Oct. 28, 1672*, Mary Pierson, dau. of
Bartholomew and Ursula Pierson, at that time of Woburn, but previously to
1652, Watertown. Third, June 25, 1689, Margaret Willing, who d. Oct. 28,
1726.
Michael Bacon was of Woburn, 1641, selectman, 1659, 1665, 1666, 1670.
Bartholomew Pierson was of Watertown, 1640, freeman of the colony, 1648;
removed to Woburn, 1652; selectman, 1665-6; died March 12, 1687.
John Richardson passed his life in Woburn; was a yeoman; constable,
1675; a soldier in "Philip's War," 1675-6; freeman, 1678; selectman, 1690
and 1692; died, intestate, Jan. 1, 1696-7, aged 58. [Gravestone.]
*Rev. Mr. Sewall,in his History of Woburn, p. 634, says that Lieut. John
Richardson married Mary Pierson Oct. 28, 1673, one year after the date in
the text and the Cambridge record gives the same date, which Mr. Sewall
had evidently copied. The same error crept into Bond's Watertown
Genealogies, p. 910. Mr. Sewall says also that their son Pierson was
born Sept. 29, 1674. I follow the Woburn record and the transcript made
by Mr. Sewall for the town. If Pierson was born "22d of 7th month,
1673," as on the Woburn record, his parents, if honest people, must have
been married in 1672.

MILLINOCKET -- Edward J. Morneault, 77, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, died on Thursday, March 8, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born March 16, 1929, in Millinocket, the son of Robert and Rose (Levesque) Morneault.
Edward worked for Great Northern Paper Co., Millinocket, for 37 years, retiring in the late 1980s. He enjoyed being busy, especially being at his camp and working in his boathouse. Edward was a kind, caring and gentle man, who loved his wife, children, grandchildren and family, and was loved in return by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gloria E. (Bacon) Morneault of Millinocket; three children: Stephen Morneault and his wife, Susan, of Gorham, Terry Morneault and his wife, Cindy, of Millinocket, and Carol Brodeur of Rockland; a sister, Arline Levasseur and her husband, Ray, of Millinocket; four grandchildren: whom he adored, Bethany Morneault, Bryan Morneault, Miranda Brodeur and Brandon Brodeur; a special uncle, John Levesque and his wife, Doris, of Millinocket; and several nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Edward was predeceased by two brothers: Robert Morneault and Aime Morneault.
