I do not have the perfect answer for you, but It's well possible that the missisng children for Loyal and wife Narcissa could be buried in Vermont and not in Quebec. Or perhaps, in another cemetery in Potton Township. Excluding the Ruiter Settlement Cemetery, there is 11 cemeteries to search in Potton.

silver & dewing manufacture company??? ter part of 1844 he came to Albany, where he has since resided. He learned the trade of a cutler in Worcester, Mass., in 1830, in the first cutler's shop in America, and afterward learned to make spectacles, and was engaged in that business several years after coming here. Of late years he has been buying and collecting notes and doing a general brokerage business. He has sixty acres of land on section 11, Lee Township, and considerable town prop- erty. In 1849 he went to California via the isthmus, and remained eighteen months. He has been Township Assessor six years. He is a member of Albany Lodge, No. 156, A. F. & A. M. Jan. 13 1836, he married Mindwell R. Cleveland, a native of Harwinton, Conn., born Sept. 17, 1817. They have one daughter---Mary M., now Mrs. James H.Holmes. She has one child---Angie G., born Aug. 4, 1881. Mr. Dewing has the record of his father's ancestors from 1644 to the present time. Andrew Dewing, one of the first settlers of Needham, was a member of the ancient artillery of Bos- ton in 1644. According to the book: The Buckeye Rovers in the Gold rush. a Dewing (the above information gives credance to the claim) went to california to the gold rush. in the 1850 census his wife is listed as living in Lee township in another persons home.

...On the east side of the front yard, a beautiful tennis court was the fence between us and the corner house that now stands where a Professor Dewing lived. He taught for a while in the Berkeley high school, then went to teach in Greece. Across the street, Ellsworth, was a large body of water, coming from the U.C. There my brother had a raft and had fun sailing about. The water went under a bridge crossing across Parker and flowed under the place where the present church now stands. Tules covered the ground growing semi-circular; tules grew and some held water inside them and some were dry.
...That was the Dewing’s place. Henry Dewing [and Stephen and Eva, who were his parents, and several siblings]. That house on the corner was theirs. He had a horse. He used to ride horses.
LC: You said he was a professor at Berkeley? JD: He taught Latin. LC: You took Latin from him? JD: Mmm-hmm. And then he moved away.
One of the girls wrote a poem:
Henry Dewing, This is he, Member of the faculty. How wise he looks, Surrounded by his weighty books. [she laughs]
He moved way to Athens, I think it was, and taught at the university. He was a nice young fellow
LC: What else did they have over there? That’s a big lot. There’s the tennis court and the corner house. Did they have a stable or something like that for the horse?
JD: They must have had, there in the back. They had the whole corner there. [A photograph from 1939 shows a 1½ story garage in the area where the garden now is behind 2239—the driveway to it came from Ellsworth. Prior to the garage, it may have been a stable. There had also been a two-car garage dating back to at least 1929 where the corner house patio now is, but that garage may have been built at a later date.]

Hi, I recently was lent a photo album from a 2nd cousin (the connection is our great grandparents, Francis and Mary Dewing). My grandmother on my fathers side is Dora Dewing Prichard. Her father Francis Dewing married Mary Elizabeth Spalding Feb. 28, 1864 in Westminster Connecticut.
I’m trying to clarify the spelling of Mary Elizabeth Spalding (or Spaulding). I have a copy of the acting pastor’s certification of her marriage, and on it the spelling is Spaulding. If you have the time and information I would appreciate a short response.
I noticed that you were looking for information for - Andrew S. - 1/16/1897, son of Arthur James Dewing. Arthur was my grandmother Dora’s brother. Andrew’s middle name was Spalding (Spaulding?). I do have a copy of a picture of him at around age 7. I don’t have any other info on him but I will check with my cousin.
My middle name is Spalding as was my father’s. For this reason I suspect that would be the correct spelling for Mary Dewing’s maiden name.

Note from his obituary: Blue Valley Blade newspaper daytes Feb 12 1849. He was born in Liberty Mills, PA. At the age of 6 he moved with his parents to Bushnell, Indiana, where he spent his boyhood days. In the fall of 1878, he came with his mother to Seward, NE. In 1879 he married Ida Adela Dewing in her fathers home. Of this union 6 children were born, only 3 surviving infancy.
