!John was a soldier in the French and Indian War, and at one time was a captive by Indians, and came near being massacred, but managed to escape. He died in New Gloucester about the beginning of the year 1761. According to tradition, his wife was Sarah Clements. She died a very short time before he did, and both were buried in the same grave.
There is no doubt that they were the parents of Abijah Buck and his brothers who settled in Buckfield. Dr. Wm. B. Lapham in a communication before his death said: "I have followed out every line of this Buck family down to this John, and later, and I find that he is the only one who could possibly have been the father of Abijah and his brothers of Buckfield." We have ascertained from the records of Abijah's service in the French and Indian War, that he stated in his enlistment his father's name was John.

I found an Abel BUCK, with the rank of Ensign, serving in the Niagra Co., NY militia in 1808. He was in the regiment commanded by Lt. Col. Asa Ransom. This regiment was originally formed in Genesee Co., NY. Does anybody know anything more about Abel?

!See notes of husband. The 'NEHGR' Vol. 124 article said 'Apparently William Brewster [II] had a second or later wife, Prudence (perhaps born Perkins or a widow of that name who survived him. ('The American Genealogist' Vol. 41:1-5, 63; cf. 'The Register' [NEHGR], vol. 111, p. 319-320, Oct 1957.) By her he may have had further issue:

See also, will of Richard Ellis, made there in March 1586 [York P & E, 23:227], which was witnessed by Henry Brewster, clerk, and James Brewster, clerk, presumedly his nephew and his successor as vicar.) (Act Book of the York Diocese Chancery Court 1595-1599, R. VII. AB. 46 ff. 104 v, 122, 131 ...'
