On 7 Oct 1723, John Atwood of Eastham, yeoman, acknowledged himself guardian of minor son William and was granted 42 pounds as William's portion of the estate of grandfather William Gray.
John Atwood was named administrator of his father's estate in 1714. He resided at Eastham and was called an insolvent decedent there on 8 May 1745 when administration of his estate was granted to William Atwood of Eastham, undoubtedly the eldest son.

This is just a supposition. Benjamin was a sailor and died at sea. He had no wife mentioned. He could have had a child before he died, that was brought up by his brother.

LDS proxy temple ordinances are from the FGRA sheet except sealing of marriage is from the LDS IGI from an entry with marriage to Ann Copp 31 Aug 1646, of Boston, Suffolk, England, LDS proxy sealing 7 Jan 1947, film 184777 which is SLAKE. The only marriages in the N.A. IGI are one with marriage 1646, Boston, proxy sealing 5 May 1989 DALLA, and one with date 14 Aug 1632, Boston, sealing in 1999; and one with marriage 11 Aug 1646, Boston, Rockingham, New Hampshire, sealing 23 Jun 1988 SEATT.
'History of the Atwood family: In England and America', by Charles Awood, 1885, is about Harman Atwood (d. 1650) immigrated about 1642 from England to Boston, Massachusetts, and married Ann Copp in 1646. ... also contains family history and ancestry in England to the 1300s. (FHL 1429852 it 2)
On 14 Aug 1646 when Harman was 32, he married Ann COPP, daughter of William COPP and Ann ROGERS, in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. Born in 1625 in Hatton, Warwickshire, England. Ann died in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts on 23 Jun 1661, she was 36.
They had the following children:
i. John. Born in 1647. John died in 1714, he was 67.
ii. Sarah. Born in 1650.
Brought to Boston 1642 in the service of Thomas Buttolph (a glover and leather dresser). Admitted to be townsman of Boston 16 Dec 1642. 1644 member of 'Ye Ancient & Honorable Artillery Co.' Admitted to Church 26 Feb 1644. Became a freeman in 1645. Copp, cordwainer, left bequests to grandchildren John and Sarah. Harman's estate was admitted to probate 8 Oct 1651, amounted to L34.0300.
The father of Harman may not be Johannes. Some sources suggest that Johannes Atwood, aka John the Elder or John the Leather Trader, was actually the Uncle of the John, Harman, Stephen, Henry, and William. This John lived in various places but died in Plymoth Colony, about 1644. His estate was probated at that time. His wife was Ann Lee, and they had no issue (children).
Occupation in England was that of Cordwainer. Came to Boston in 1642, as an indentured servant to Thomas Buttolph. Admitted to Boston in 26 Dec 1642. He was witness of a deed from F. Billington to (Johanies) John Atwood, in Plymouth, in 1643. He was admitted to the church on 24 Feb 1644/5. Listed as a Freeman, May of 1645 (NEGHR v3, p191 April). He was a member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company in 1644. He was Deacon of the Second Church in Boston (Old North Church). His is reported to be the first recorded marriage in Boston. Marriage also recorded in 'Early Records of Boston' (NEHG Register v8 p349,(October 1854)). He lived in Boston, between the old church lot and Court House Square. He died intestate, in the summer of 1651. Inventory prised 13: 8: 1651, by James Johnson, Nathaniel Williams, 34 (pounds), 3s. Proved 19 Sep 1651. Power of Administration granted to Ann Atwood, wife of the deceased, in behalfe of hir selfe & two children. Edward Rawson, Recordr (NEHG Register v8 p57 (Jan 1854), 'Abstracts of Early Wills'). Ann's second marriage performed by Richard Bellingham, Esq (NEHG Register v10 p222,(Jul 1856), 'Early Records of Boston') apiece to grandchildren John and Sarah Atwood, and 10 acres of land to John. His widow remarried in 1652, and sold his house.
When he died, he had been in the US 9 years. Brought to Boston 1642 in the service of Thomas Buttolph (a glover and leather dresser). Admitted to be townsman of Boston 26 Dec 1642. 1644 member of 'Ye Ancient & Honorable Artillery Co.' Admitted to Church 26 Feb 1644. Became a freeman in 1645. Copp, cordwainer left bequests to grandchildren John and Sarah. His estate was admitted to probate 8 Oct 1651-amounted to L34.0300.

!See notes for his father. All data from the FGRA sheet of his parents. The account of his wife, in the family of her parents, found in 'The Great Migration...' called him Henry Wood, no birth, death nor parents but gave the same marriage with the source 'Plymouth Colony Records' 2:79.

Henry was christened in St. Martin, London, London, England. He sailed from Leyden, Holland in company with John Jenny and family. They arrived at Plymouth in the 'James,' 44 tons, together with the 'Ann,' 140 tons. Henry was in Plymouth as early as 16 Sep 1643, when he bought a house and land from John Dunham for 7 pounds. He removed to Yarmouth where his first two children were born. In 1649, he returned to Plymouth. In 1665, he settled at Middleborough. He was not among the twenty-six original purchasers, but received the share set out for John Shaw, and part of that original homestead is still in the possession of his descendants. He was admitted a freeman of Plymouth Colony in 1648; was grand juror 1648-56-59-68 and often on other juries. His son, Samuel, and son-in-law, John Nelson, were appointed administrators of his estate, 29 Oct 1670. On 4 Mar 1673, four of his children, with his wife Abigail, were summoned into court to dispose of lands that they might contribute to the support of the widow Abigail.

There was a note on the FGRA sheet: 'According to the memorial Brass in the Church at Sanderstead for John and Denes Atwood above, they had 10 sons, therefore there are 4 sons whose names are not known, two of these at least were less than 20 in 1525, it being known there were two minors at the time of John's Will in 1525.' This is not in 'Ye Atte Wode Annals' which says: 'We find nothing of the next John until his death in 1525, leaving a will made just before his death. I hardly think you will find any will in existence that shows so queer a thing, for he had four sons that were named John. However the will of his wife, Denes, made five years later, shows that one John was called Hewson and she names a
Richard not in the other will.' Further on, after mentioning the son Richard it says 'The next two were not yet 20'. No marriages are given for any except #3 John and #6 Agnes.

'Ye Atte Wode Annals' said that the will of his father had four sons named John but the will of his mother, made five years later, shows that one John was called Hewson. It says John Hewson got Sanderstead Manor, and it is likely he became keeper of the King's Falcons. It says further: 'Henry VIII confiscated the church lands far and wide, his sweeping orders took the church part of Sanderstead, which he gave by letters patent to one of the Greshams, in 1539, as Sanderstead Manor, though we now know that the Atwoods remained undisturbed in possession of most of the manor, with county headquarters at Court Farm, while they lived in London most of the year, in the parish of St. Martin of the Fields.
'There was much confusion in the use of names Wood and Atwood all through this period; indeed, it did not cease in America until some time after the year 1700. He of 1525 signed John Wood, his wife wrote both he and she were Atwood. ... 'John (Hewson) Wood died in St. Martin's, 1562, while Margaret had died in 1558. .... '

There is a note at the bottom of the FGRA sheet which says 'Since no probate record or similar type record has been found for John, the father above, it has been difficult to establish this family. Several of the children are only presumed to belong to this group. There is little if any doubt concerning the parentage of Harman, John, and Agnes (children no. 2, 3, and 5). Abigail Atwood Shurtleff, great gd dau. of John, child no. 3, ... (see below) John, Stephen, and Henry were closely associated in the
Plymouth Colony, having land adjoining each other, and by their actions indicating a close relationship. Johanna, child no. 1, is known to be a child of a John Atwood, and since the above father is the only John Atwood known to have been in this parish at that time, it is assumed she was his first child. It could have been by a former marriage, but there is no additional evidence. The claim that a Mary and a Philip Atwood also belong to this family can not be supported by any evidence.'
In 'Ye Atte Woode Annals' it says 'Abigail Atwood Shurtleff 1755-1826, left a record that her great grandfather, John Atwood, had two brothers, Stephen and William. It is not known where she got her information. She was right about Stephen. There was a William at Charlestown, called as a Juror about 1653, with family unknown. Here Elizabeth Atwood was admitted to church 1633, and we do not know her. There were stray Atwoods who perhaps belonged to William; as, Francis had a daughter Hannah baptized at Haverhill 1691; a widow Mehitable Atwood at Braintree who could not quite be his; Ebenezer at Bradford, married around this time, etc. But also Thomas, son of Thomas of Ipswich
evidently had children, as Edward of Middleboro. The two named William Wood at Yarmouth absolutely were not Atwood. The close association of John, Stephen, and Henry tends to prove Henry a brother also. Stephen and Henry first appear at Plymouth 1641. John already had some land. Twice this year the three got land adjoining. Each was Wood, alias Atwood. They were propounded freemen together and admitted together in 1647. In 1648 they received a joint grant of land. Each, in turn, was in charge of the herring weir. When Stephen decided to settle in Eastham, Henry went along, but returned to settle in Middleboro, while John settled in Plympton, the part now Carver. On the whole I am satisfied that Harman, John, Stephen, and Henry were brothers and perhaps also William of Charlestown, and probably one or more unidentified wives of others were their sisters.'
The FGRA sheet lists seven children, Johanna, Harman, John, Stephen, Agnes, Henry and William.
Further in 'Ye Atte Wode Annals' it says 'Johannes was our leather seller John for in 1631 he sued his brother Harman for lands their father Nicholas had settled on his youngest son, Richard. The latter had died, so John, now being youngest son, saw a chance for himself. Whence evidently comes the various Atwood traditions of the American ancestor being disinherited, or having best right to estate in England but never claiming it.
John Wood married Joan Coleson ... and two children were baptized at St. Martin's (Harman and John) ... Apparently, they then moved to Chancery Lane, London. There is absolutely no doubt that Stephen was brother of these, and but little doubt of Henry.'

Both FGRA sheets have a '2' before the name of wife, Sarah Masterson, but have no other wife listed. An FGRA sheet of his parents, submitted by the Genealogical Society for Rosalia Kelsch Est., showed a first wife, Ann. I have not been able to find any source for this. There is no mention of a first wife in 'Ye Atte Wode Annals' nor in the 'NEHGR' ariticle. (see below)
LDS proxy temple ordinances are in the 1997 British IGI from temple records.
The first FGRA sheet of John and Sarah lists 9 children, Mary, Sarah, Abigail, John, Nathaniel, Isaac, Mercy, Elizabeth and Hannah. The other has four different children as the first four in the family, born at
Swansea, Bristol, Mass., then John, Elizabeth and Mary. The deed given in the 'NEHGR' article (see below) gives the correct children.shows the daughter Abigail as third child, born abt 1647, but an article 'The Mary Atwood Sampler' by Ruth Wilder Sherman, found in 'NEHGR' vol 144 (1990) pg 25-26, shows her sixth, born between 1656 and 1660. Since she was married 1676 she may have been born later than 1647 but probably not as late as 1660.
!From 'Ye Atte Wode Annals': 'John Wood, alias Atwood, came to Plymouth 1635-6, evidently with his uncle, John Atwood. ... propounded freeman in 1647. In 1648 (with his brothers) received a joint grant of land. Each, in turn was in charge of the herring weir. ... settled in Plympton, the part now Carver.'
From New Eng Hist and Gen Reg, vol. 144 (1990), pg 25: 'John was a proprietor at Plymouth in 1636, juryman in 1638 and in 1643 was on the list of those men aged 16-60 who were able to bear arms (Charles H. Pope, 'The Pioneers of Mass.', 1900, pg 511).
In his will, dated 22 Nov 1675 and proved 7 Mar 1675/6, John Wood Sr. of Plymouth bequeathed his entire estate to his wife Sarah, after her death to be divided among all his children with a double portion to son John and 'to all the rest both sons and daughters (unnamed) an equall proportion.'
Inventory of the estate of John Wood alias Attwood deceased was taken 26 Jan 1675 and it was substantial for the period, totaling 153 pounds 6 shillings 5 pence. This included some eight parcels of land in Plymouth and Middleboro, one of which was on the south side of Captain Bradford's land (Plymouth Colony Probate Records, unpublished, hereinafter Plym. Col. PR, 3:1:155). An inventory of the 'Remainder of Goods chattels & Credits of John Wood formerly of Plimouth deceased and of Mary (sic) his relict & widdow also deceased' was taken 2 April 1701 (Plymouth County Prob. Rec. 1:339).
Far more is learned about the family from the probate records of John Wood and from land records. Administration on the estate of John Wood's son John Jr. was granted to Nathaniel Wood on 7 Mar 1675 (Pope, 511). Inventory of the estate of John Wood alias Attwood Jr. was taken 6 Mar 1675/6 and came to 47 pounds 2 shillings. (Plym. Col. PR, 3:1:178).
In March 1675/6, the court ordered that Nathaniel Wood, 'appearing to be eldest brother of John Wood Jr. alias Atwood lately deceased,' should have a double portion of the estate, and the rest should be divided equally among the rest of the children of the late deceased John Wood Sr. alias Attwood: Isack Wood, Mistris Mary Holmes, widow, Sarah Fallowell, Abigaill Leanard, Mercye, Elizabeth, and Hannah Wood alias Attwood (Nathaniel B. Shurtleff, 'Records of The Colony of New Plymouth in New England' ... [Boston 1855-1861], hereinafter 'Plym Col. Recs.', 5:188).
On the 24th of June 1685, Nathaniel Wood, alias Attwood, of New Plymouth, New England, sold to Mr. Nathaneill Clarke of said town, for 4 pounds, his portion of land in Plymouth, mentioning 'Sarah, my mother, relict widdow of my late father John Wood, alias Attwood, Mary, Sarah, Abigaill, Mercy, Elizabeth & Hannah, my sisteres, the daughteres of the said John Wood' (ibid., 6:161-163). On the same day the widow Sarah, Mary the wife of Major William Bradford, Sarah the relict of John Followay (Fallowell), Mercy Wood, and Hannah Wood released their rights in the land (ibid.). On 10 July 1685, Elizabeth Nye, wife of Caleb Nye, also released her rights (ibid., 6:163).'

There is another FGRA sheet, submitted by Frances M. Seamans, 116 S. Lesueur St., Mesa Ariz. Sources are 'Wood Family of Swansea, Mass'; Par. Reg. of St. Martin-in-the-Field, Lond 1, v. 25; (The call number is now 942 B4ha); 'Ye Attewode Annals' B10 F19, pt 1; Mass. 20 V. 3 p. 1941 (This is Mass. (This is the will of John Atwood dated 1643 pr 5 June 1644, Plym.)

!Initial source: Family group sheet in the FGRA collection of the Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah, submitted by Gen Soc - (HEC) for Rosalia Kelsch, SLC, Utah. Their sources: Ye Atte Wode Annals, (B10F19), pt1, p3; Par Reg St. Martin-in-the-field, Lond 1, v.25, p110; Sanderstead Par Reg, (Surr G2), pt2, p18,19; Hist & Antiq. of Surr, (Surr 6), V.2, p73,75; (over) (Whoever copied this sheet didn't get a copy of the back.)
This sheet has his birth 'abt. 1490, of Sanderstead, Surrey, Eng.; burial date and place, son of John Atwood and Denes, wife Mrs. Margaret Atwood.'
LDS proxy temple ordinances are from the FGRA sheet and that of his parents.
Martin's, 1562, while Margaret had died in 1558. .... '

11. NICHOLAS WOOD (ALIAS11 ATTWOOD) (JOHN HEWSON10 ATWOOD, JOHN9, JOHNATTE8 WODE, PETER ATTE7, PETER ATTE6, WILLIAM ATTE5, PETER ATTE4, PETER3DEWYCKHURST, PETER2, ATTE1 WODE) was born 1539 in Sanderstead cumLonghurst, County Surrey, and died May 10, 1586 in Sanderstead CountySurrey. He married OLIPHE HARMAN, daughter of JAMES HARMAN.
More About NICHOLAS WOOD (ALIAS ATTWOOD):
Fact 1: served Queen Elizabeth after 2nd year of her reign
Fact 2: Asst Sgt of Queen's Carriages
Fact 3: heir to Sanderstead Manor
Fact 4: 1539, Sanderstead Rectory confiscated by Henry VIII in 1539
THERE IS NO PROOF THAT NICOLAS'S DAUGHTER ALICE WAS MARRIED TO WILLIAM MULLINS.
SOME SOURCES SAY NICHOLAS WAS THE SON OF JOHN HEWSON (L) ATWOOD WHO DIED IN 1561 AND MARGARET GRENVILLE OR (L) GREENVILLE AND THAT HIS PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS WERE JOHN (NOTES) (L) ATTE-WOOD OR ATWOOD AND DENES (NOTES) (L) ?.
OTHER POSSIBLE PARENTS ARE SHOWN BELOW BUT THIS INDIVIDUAL IS NOT SHOWN AS A CHILD ON THE FOLLOWING POSSIBLE PARENTS' FAMILY PAGES, TO DO SO WOULD BE CONSIDERED ERRORS BY THIS PROGRAM. EVEN THOUGH THESE LAST POSSIBLE PARENTS MAY BE THE CORRECT ONES, SHOWING MORE THAN ONE SET OF PARENTS COULD CAUSE MY "FAMILY TREE" PROGRAM TO MALFUNCTION.
OTHER SOURCES SAY THAT NICHOLAS WAS THE SON OF JOHN (NOTES) (L) ATTE-WOOD OR ATWOOD AND DENES (NOTES) (L) ? (SHOWN AS HIS GRANDPARENTS HERE) AND THAT THERE WERE ONLY TWO JOHNS BETWEEN NICHOLAS AND PETER NOT THREE.

LDS proxy temple ordinances are from the FGRA sheet and that of his parents.
From 'Ye Atte Wode Annals': 'A Chancery suit includes statement that Court Roll in 1547 show Nicholas Atwood to have then been the heir of Sanderstead Manor in Surrey.... His brass relates that he served Queen Elizabeth after the second year of her reign. His position was undoubtedly that of Assistant Sergeant of the Queen's Carriages, with his cousin, John Ownstead as Sergeant.
'Jan. 30, 1569, at St. Martin's he married Olive Harman, 1543-1603, daughter and heiress of James Harman. Most of their children were baptized at St. Martin's but John and Derick, 'gemelli,' Feb. 4, 1582, are on the parish register of Gatton and Sanderstead. When in the country, they resided at Court Farm (in Sanderstead) and here, one night when roads were especially bad and the Queen returning from one of her trips, she spent the night at Court Farm. The Greshams held the Court itself but were Catholic, so Elizabeth preferred to stop with Nicholas.
'Nicholas died May 10, 1586, in Sanderstead and was buried in St. Martin's, May 14, according to the two parish registers, though his brass says he was buried May 12, in Sanderstead Church, evidently a guess of his grandson, Harman 2d.'

I HAVE ASSUMED HERE THEY WERE TWO DIFFERENT PERSONS AND WIVES AND, AS THE PREPONDERANCE OF SOURCES SEEMS TO INDICATE, HAVE SHOWN JANE AS THE MOTHER OF WILLIAM AND FRANCIS AS THE MOTHER OF EDWARD AND JOHN.
AS THERE IS NO PROOF THAT EITHER FRANCES (NOTES) MOLYNEUX OR (L) MOLYNEAUX OR JANE OR JOANE (NOTES) BRIDGER (L) BRIDGERS. WAS WILLIAM OR EDWARD OR JOHN' MULLINS MOTHER, ALL THE ANCESTORS FROM HERE BACK ARE IN DOUBT.

1571/1585: The dorking Register shows baptisms, marriages, and burials of persons named Mullyns, after which there is a hiatus of a quarter of a century before another entry occurs.
1612: william Mullins had a holding in the Manor of Dorking which he bought in 1612 and for which he paid an unusually large rental of 23 shillings pe annum.
1616, 29 Apr: a significant entry is found in the records of the Privy council, 29 Apr, 1616, when a warrant was issued to bring "one William Mollins before their Lordships." On May 1st he appeared before the Privy council and was continued technically in their custody "untill by their Honours" order hee be dismissed." The cause of his arrest is not stated but it can well be assumed that it was on account of the religious controversies of that period.
1619: He had paid L122 for his holding in the Manor of Dorking, and in May, 1619, sold it for L280 to one ephraim Bothall.
1620: On the Mayflower from leyden to Plymouth, signed the compact (tenth signer), brought wife, son (Joseph), daughter (Priscilla) and a servant, Robert Carter.
1620/1: First will made in New England.
As the father of the famous Priscilla, this Pilgrim has a certain romantic background which deserves such particularization as facts concerning him have been developed. The annotation in the probate record of his will "nuper de Dorking defunctus in Partibus transmarinis" implies that he formerly lived in Dorking, co.Surrey. Conclusive record of his residence in that parish cannot be established.

HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT WILLIAM MULLINS AND HIS ANCESTRY:
False and Faked Mayflower GenealogyOver the past two centuries, many people have--either deliberately or because of poor research--published accounts of Mayflower ancestry that are completely false. Here is a collection of the most commonly known false and faked Mayflower lines. This list is based on a series of articles appearing in the Mayflower Descendant, volume 20, 21, 23, 34 titled "False and Faked Mayflower Lines"; the Mayflower Descendant article in volume 43 entitled "A Mayflower Hoax Resurfaces"; published articles in the Mayflower Descendant, The American Genealogist, the New England Historic and Genealogical Register, Mayflower Families and Mayflower Families in Progress series of books, and my own experiences answering visitor questions. The list is organized alphabetically by the surname involved. Source abbreviations are as follows: MD = Mayflower Descendant; MQ = Mayflower Quarterly, NEHGR = New England Historic and Genealogical Register; MF = Mayflower Families for Five Generations; MFIP = Mayflower Families in Progress, TAG = The American Genealogist, NYGBR = New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, and TG = The Genealogist.
MULLINS. William Mullins is not descended from any Molyneaux family, nor does he have any proven royal ancestry. There is no evidence that his wife Alice was named Alice Atwood or Alice Poretiers. [MD 44:38-43]

IN 2012, I RECEIVED AND ANSWERED A POST-EM ON MY ROOTSWEB PAGE FOR THE MAYFLOWER CAPTAIN CHRISTOPHER JONES FROM ALTON ROGERS AND GAINED MUCH MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE MAYFLOWER, THE VOYAGE AND THE PASSENGERS. ALTON ALSO INCLUDES LINKS TO 60 WIKIPEDIA ARTICLES SUPPLYING MUCH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THESE LINES.

Hello again Alton,
This email string, together with your Wikipedia list is turning out to be pretty long and complicated and as I have added some explanatory notes and headings and plan to place the same long note on at least 8 different pages on my RootsWeb site, I thought I should run it all by you again before I actually post it.
What I have copied below is exactly the way it would look on the 8, or more, pages. Please make any corrections or changes you wish and with your OK, I'll post it.
Thanks again for all this new information and help.

Subject: Re: OK to post this string to my page for Christopher Jones?
Good Morning Bruce -
Appreciate your interest in our Wikipedia work. Although the ideas and the major writing in these articles came from me, I do want to give credit to my great Wikipedia editor who, especially early on, kept things within the strict parameters of Wikipedia and her editing was especially helpful in getting those many, any references in there correctly. (Wikipedia admin (which runs a really strict shop and always oversees work going on) thrives on good referencing)
And my editor is the one who has to manage those 60 articles (maybe forever?), since she is alerted anytime someone makes changes to them (they are open to change/correction by anyone - and sometimes vandalism) which is often nothing much as she has said, except for early on in the Richard More article) she is quite pleasantly surprised (and even shocked) that Wikipedia admin has had nothing much at all to say about our work as far as holding well to Wiki principles.
The articles that were re-done were often (in our opinion) not well written basically and/or not well referenced. Some were totally reconstructed and were rewritten as almost new articles. One prevalent problem with almost all the re-done ones was that they did not list correctly and/or well the family and children of the person documented.
Our list of 60 projects is attached -
it is broken down in categories -
1. Richard More related - 7 articles for he, his parents, his mother's husband Samuel More and Samuel's father, another Richard More who was the prime instigator of shipping the More children to the New World. Also an article on Richard's grandmother, Jane Pemberton (Small), who was a model in her own right for the famous Dutch painter at the English court - Holbein.
2. next is a page for those who were involved in the lives of the More children - on the Mayflower - Brewster, Carver and Winslow and one of the Pilgrim agents, Robert Cushman (my ancestor), who assisted in assigning the children to Mayflower senior Pilgrims for the voyage. Also 3 Mayflower passenger lists, incuding a new one we made for the few passengers who died earliest, incluidng James Chilton and Richard's brother, Jasper More.
page 3 has 2 persons listed at top - Thomas Weston and Lord Zouche who were also deeply involved in sending the More children out. Weston arranged to hire the Mayflower and its master Christopher Jones and was a pretty disgusting character. Lord Zouche was the employer of Samuel More, the husband of Richard's mother Katherine and a member of the Virgina Compnay who helped arrnaged (maybe his idea?) to send the children out. Historical fact about Zouche - in his youth, he was a member of the court at the trial of Mary Queen of Scots.
3. the next several pages are articles that were re-done for the reasons listed above and all the persons in your ancestry have their re-written articles listed on these pages.
4. on page 6 & 7 are some notable persons of Plymouth Colony - Conant and Vassall being in my ancestry. These men were almost all 'major players' in early Plymouth Colony and were a pleasure to work on - especially Prence, Vassall and Josiah Winslow. Both Cudworth and Joisah Winslow were found to have documented royal ancestry - Cudworth thru his own line and Winslow thru both parents of his wife Penelope Pelham (a great English upper-crust name).
5. on page 7 I have John Smith in here as we had to add a section to his article to flesh out more of his work at Jamestown and about Stephen Hopkins connection to him then. (also had to add into Hopkins quite interesting shipwreck information on Bermuda years before he traveled on the Mayflower.
6. And lastly on page 7 the Mayflower and her Captain, Christopher Jones.
A real pleasure to work on all these articles and leaned alot about the history of those times. Most of the Mayflower references, etc.. are on my bookshelf.
About enough for now. Hope this is of interest and helpful in your fine work. Of course, please let me know of any concerns or questions.
Regards
Alton

Good Morning Alton,
Thank you for all this additional information, your kind words about my site and I wish you a Happy Holidays too..
You ask if I would "wish to see our entire project list (with Wikipedia links)" to let you know. I sure would like to have that list. I hadn't thought of Wikipedia as a genealogical source but I guess now, thanks to you and the others who've worked on it, it is.
As there was so much intermarriage among the Mayflower passengers, many of us find we have more than one Mayflower ancestor. So far I trace ancestry to Alden, Mullins, Soule, White, Cooke, Chilton and Warren and I imagine there may be other undiscovered links. I would like to include all the Mayflower Wikipedia links you have, in addition to this email string and your email address, in the notes to at least these seven passenger's pages on my site as well as to the page for Captain Jones.
I look forward to receiving the Wikipedia link to page list, checking out those 60 pages and to your OK to post it all.
Thanks again for all your good work and great help to many of us.

Hello Bruce -
So good to hear from you again. In reviewing Rootsweb, you seem to have about the best (and most thorough) site going.
As you know, I am a descendant of Richard More, who had a most bizarre situation on the Mayflower (along with 3 siblings who all perished). Well, Richard had no Wikipedia article so early this year I and an excellent Wikipedia editor created a new one for him and one thing lead to another and we ended up with 19 Wikipedia articles, mostly new ones, that are about the More children. Then, since I am also a descendant of Isaac Allerton and William White, we revised Allerton's page and created a new one for White, and for his son Resolved (my ancestor) whose wife was Judith Vassall of the illustrious Vassall family. And we had to make a new Wikipedia article for her father William, who was a famous religious liberities troublemaker among the Puritans. And it went on and on - we went through all Mayflower passengers whose Wikipedia articles needed revision (and made some new ones), then Plymouth Colony notables needing revision (or new) and just finished that year-long project with the ship Mayflower and its captain Christopher Jones. A total of 60 articles revised or new over one year and very satisfying to do.
And if you wish to see our entire project list (with Wikipedia links) let me know.
Regarding Christopher Jones and other of my work, you have my permission to publish whatever of my work you wish, and I thank you for your interest. I am always pleased to discuss genealogy with folks.
I have tried to find out where 'Teague Jones' as a son of Christopher Jones came from and it seems it came
from Ancestry but cannot really pinpoint where. I really hate to see this stuff out there with no real supporting documentation other than 'LDS' who does some good work, but also has many, many folks own genealogies in their files without knowing whether they are for real or 'imagined'. A real shame and waste of many folks time. From what I can find 'Teague Jones' may have been a real person in the 17th century but apparently his parentage is unknown and along the way someone tied him to Captain Jones.
Anyway, thanks much for writing. Here is our revised Wikipedia article for the Mayflower which takes things back as far as they can go and explains all that. Just made contact with the Mayflower Society about the ship and even they have no idea when it was built or who built it. As far back as certainty goes was that Jones turned up as master and part-owner in 1609. Primary problem was the popularity of the name 'Mayflower' and that every port in England had one - maybe 30 at one time!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayflower
and for Richard More - the one that started our project and took weeks to finalize with constant rewriting and to get the approval of Wikipedia which has some really tight parameters on new articles - and with getting some new photos added such as that of the More children plaque in St. James church in Shropshire.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_More_(Mayflower_passenger)
Thanks again for writing. Hope to hear from you again.
Happy Holidays

I have removed the Post-em, for they sometimes move to unrelated pages when I update the site, but, if it's OK with you, I would like to add it as notes, together with your email address and the Wikipedia link to my RootsWeb page for Christopher Jones.
Perhaps someone with more information will see it there and contact you.

We have just updated/revised the Wikipedia article for Christopher Jones (as well as for the Mayflower itself). I see that a number of persons have contacted you about Teague Jones, supposed child of Christopher Jones. Note that Harwich records do not credit him with a son named Teague. Persons can contact me further about our research or see our references at the end of the article. Maybe let those persons know about this Wikipedia article.

HAD THIS TO SAY ABOUT ALICE:

This sheet gives his christening, marriage and parents. 'Ye Atte Wode Annals' calls him 'Johanem' and names him with Derick, christened at the same date, probably twins.
