Phoebe was described by a descendant as a beautiful woman with black hair, peaches and cream complexion and straight as an arrow. She was a woman of excellent character and always encouraged her children to make the most of every opportunity for improvement. A large three cornered cupboard fell on Phoebe and afterthat she was never able to walk. She died as aresult of this accident.

!From 'New Eng Gen & Hist Reg' V. 81: 'George Williamson frequently changed his dwelling place in pursuit of his trade (carpenter). From 1700 to 1713 he lived in Duxbury and Rochester, Mass., buying in the former place the house of John Mitchell and living also at Tarkiln Hill Pond (Winsor's History of Duxbury).' (Proprietors records says assigned 8th lot) 'From Rochester he moved to Harwich, Mass., and in 1715 and 1716 the church records show him to have been at Truro, Mass., whence he was discharged 21 Apr 1717 to Middleborough, Mass. He was at Wellfleet, Mass., in 1724, and on 22 June of that year was one of the members of the precinct meeting for dismissing Josiah Oakes from the meeting, a task apparently attended with some difficulty, as on 19 May of the year following he was appointed to warn the aforesaid Josiah from preaching farther in the meeting house of the North Precinct. (The Mayflower Desc. V. 8 pg 43.) George Williamson was still in Wellfleet in 1728, being elected, 15 Apr., as agent for the precinct to advise with the President and Fellows of Harvard College in regard to a preacher. His will was proved 25 Oct 1765, his real estate and buildings being left to his eldest son (Plymouth Probate Records).'

LDS proxy temple ordinances are in the IGI from temple records. His birth, marriage and death are given in the 'NEHGR' article. On pg 86 it says his will was proved 25 Oct 1765 but, in the account of his son, George, it says he (the son) died 24 Jan 1764, administration of his estate granted to his widow 25 Apr 1764, 'right of dower in real estate and buildings awarded to his mother, Mary Williamson, as son George had inherited the homestead.' This is confusing as the date of granting administration of the son's estate is before the proving of the father's will. Further searching in the Probate records of Plymouth Co. showed that further action was taken on the son's estate 17 and 28 Oct 1765, (550711 pg 269, 289). The father's will was not found in this search. Perhaps the father's will had not yet been proven when the son died and it was presented to clear up the confusion of ownership. Or it may be that action on the son's administration was confused with that of the father. The marriage is in Marshfield records, page 349, which says he was married in Eastham.

Caleb Williamson settled in Middleborough, and on 18 Apr. 1745 bought 24 acres of land on the north side of Taunton Path, where he built a houseand later purchased more land.

Fearing lest his eldest son, Caleb, Jr.,might move away on attaining his majority he conveyed to him, 29 Aug.1765, 20 acres of the northerly side of his homestead, being "68 polesfrom Fall Brook." The gift displeased his other children, for whom he could not do so much, and, finding himself unable to pay the legacies left by his mother, without selling land, he conveyed to his wife's brother, Samuel Ransom, all the property left by his deceased brother George, consisting of the latter's homestead farm of 50 acres, given to him by their father, George Williamson. In the autumn of 1775 he visited his brother-in-law, Lemuel Ransom, at Canterbury, Conn., and decided to remove thither. Therefore in Mar. and Apr. 1776 he conveyed to his sons, Caleb and George, respectively, 12 and 30 acres of his farm in Middleborough, sold the remainder of his homestead there, and on 23 Nov.1776 bought from Robert Ransom 80 acres of land in Canterbury, on the north side of the highway from Windham to Brooklyn meeting house and a little west of Rowland's Brook. This he subsequently sold, on 20 Apr.1778, to his son Ebenezer; and on 14 Feb. 1784 the latter conveyed land to his "Hon'd Father Caleb Williamson, bounded by land of Caleb Williamson Jr." Caleb Williamson, Sr., continued to live in Canterbury until 1790, when all his family had scattered, leaving himself and his wife alone. Shortly after that date he settled his estate, and during the last years of their life he and his wife made their home with their daughter Thankful, wife of William Paddock. The Canterbury farm may have been given to the latter in return for maintenance.

Caleb Williamson and his wife are buried in the Canterbury graveyard, 150rods south of their last home. The stones were standing in 1840. Caleb Williamson was a man of high honor, industrious and pure-minded. Governor Williamson, his grandson tells us of the old gentleman's quaint custom of wereing, while in the house, a white cap, instead of the wigwhich he donned on going abroad.

Richard was a knight who served in the Norman invasion of England in 1066. Richard was regent of England jointly with William de Warenne during the Conqueror's absence in 1075 and served in other capacities for the King. King William granted him one of the largest fiefs in the territorial settlement. The lordship centered on Clare and Suffolk. William arranged for Richard's marriage to Rohese, sister of Walter Giffard, and her dowry consisting of lands in Huntingdon and Hertford became absorbed in family inheritance.
