ISAAC RICHARDSON, fourth son of David and Sarah 9Wiley) Richardson; b.
in Limington, Me., feb. 24, 1794; m., July 11, 1819, Abigail Chick, then
of Limington. She was born March 25, 1795, in Falmouth, Me., in the part
now constituting the down of Deering, formerldenominated Stroudwater.
They dwelt in Limington, 1818, when he purchased of Thomas Moulton, of
Standish, his farm of 100 acres, in Standish [Cumb. Deeds,lxxxii. 298],
and not long after removed thit her. We find him in Gorham, 1843, when
he made a purchase of six acres of marsh land. [Cumb. Deeds, cxciv.24.]
He died inGorham, Oct. 4, 1872, aged 78. His widow Abigail died in
Gorham, Jan. 18, 1875, in her eightieth year.

He was enrolled as a private in Co. D, 2nd Regt of U.S. Sharpshooters,

transferred to the 17th Maine Regt. Co. G., Capt. Greene, and then to the
1st Maine Heavy Artillery, Co. G.Capt. James A. Godfrey. He was
discharged from the service Sept. 11, 1865. He now lives in Portland, Me.

According to (Osborne) family tradition, William was killed when felling
a tree. Love administered his estate 10 March 1783. He was buried on lot
36 near the 'Pond Hole', his grave suitably marked and faithfully tended.
On April 7 1806 his son Moses sold James Wall about 12 acres of the
northwest corner of lot 36, reserving 1/4 acre 'near the Pond Hole where
my father and others lie buried'.
A reservationignored in later deeds. In 1891-3 Hollingsworth and
Whitney Co. (now Scott Paper Co,) built a pulp mill on the land. The
'Pond Hole' was filled in and the grave sites obliterated. The human
bones unearthed were declared to be those of an ancient Indian burial
ground. Without further research, they were reinterred in a park near the
town hall and marked with a commemorative stone. Supposedly, Love's
father (Moses Chick?) and a son were buried with William. Love may have
been buried there, too.
Named administrator of his father's will; his and Bethia's families
enumerated in the 1766 census of West Pownalborough (Dresden), inherited
the Swan Island farm (except 20 acres), sold to Ralph Chapman on 12 Apr
1768 and moved to a lot adjoining his brother Daniel at Bowdoinham,
Maine, sold it to Daniel on 29 June 1773 and moved to Winslow,Maine where
he bought from Timothy Hudson lot 36 on the east side of the Kennebec,
south of Taconic Falls and north of Fort Halifax at the confluence of
Kennebec and Sebasticook Rivers. The deed is dated 13 June 1781 but he
probably took possession about 1772.
At that time, deeds were being registered as much as 15 years after the
transfer of the property. William and Daniel bought their lot on
Abagadasset from Agreen Crabtree who acquired his title from the
Pejepscot Proprietors. The Kennebec Proprietors later claimed the same
land and deeded it to Samuel Goodwin who sued William for it in the
Lincoln County Court which was controlled by the Kennebec Proprietors.
Naturally William lostand had to re-buy his land (Lincoln County Deeds,
vols 6-9)

Intense search has not yet revealed her maiden name nor the time or place
of her birth, death or marriage. The (Osborne) Family Book of
Remembrances says her father was Moses Chick. It is also says she moved
to Waterville,but this is unlikely, Waterville was not incorporated
until 1802 and the 1810 Federal Census lists her as Head of Household at
Winslow. Since she is not in the 1820 census at either place, she
probably died before 1819 when her son Moses quit claimed the remainder
of lot 36 'by right of dower' to his sonesMoses jr. and Daniel.

I noticed on WorldConnect that you show that the John Wyman who married
Abiah Spaulding was ason of William Wyman and Love Chick. That couple
did
have a son John of almost the same age, and who lived a while in
Winslow, but he wasn't the Johnin Winslow who md Abiah.
The John who md Abiah was a son of Reuben Wyman and Elizabeth Bancroft,
which helps explain a lot - e.g. a son named Bancroft, etc. If you want
to
verify, I would suggest as a starter that you consult Wyman Genealogy,
Vol
1, by Thomas Bellows Wyman Jr., Charlestown, Massachusetts. It was in
the
collection of the New England Historic & Genealogical Society, Boston, ca
1993. It contains considerable data on Reuben, his descendants and
forebears. An earlier version was printed in the Register, vol 3, pp.
33-8, and was reprinted in pamphlet form.

Born in Buxton, Maine. to William(6) and Elizabeth (Murch) Cobb, Elisha (5) Cobb, Elisha (4) Cobb, James (3) Cobb, James (2) Cobb, Henry (1) Cobb. (in notes of Juanita Marston Coons, it says Almira's father was William Cobb who married (mother) Nancy Poak and had 13 children).
She had 4 sisters and 4 brothers. She lived at Buxton, Yarmouth, Porter, & Beddleford, Maine and then Mendota, ILL where she came with her second husband Thomas Chick in 1854. After Jeremiah's death in 1837, she married Thomas Chick of Cornish, York Co., Me. at Buxton, Maine, July 7, 1840. Thomas Chick has one child from a previous marriage - Sarah Jane Chick b. Sept 6, 1834 . She died in Besbee, AZ Aug 23, 1914.

Mrs Almira Chick was born at Buxton, Maine, in 1804. Her maiden name was Cobb. She was one of a family of four sisters and 4 brothers. One sister and two brothers survive her, and yet live in the state of Maine. She was wedded to Jeremiah Marston of Yarmouth, Maine, in 1825. To them were born two daughters and five sons. Her first husband having died, she was married a second time, in 1841, to Thomas Chick, at Buxton, Maine. Two sons were born of this union; one of them passed before her to the other world. Her home was, at different periods of her life, at Buxton, Yarmouth, Porter and Biddeford, Maine; and at Mendota, IL, where she came with her husband in 1854 and has lived for the past 37 years. The last years of her life were spent at the home of her son, Jeremiah Marston, where she died April 20, 1891, at 10:15, P.M., at the ripe age of 87 years.
She leaves, to mourn her decease, two brothers, William and Ossman Cobb, at BHuxton, Maine; four sons and one daughter, namely:- Jeremiah Marston, of Mendota, IL. ; Roswell Marston, of Minonk, IL.,; Hiram Marston, of Fulton Co., IL.;Ferdinand Chick, of Hastings, Neb.; and Mrs, Martha A. Dix, of Kansas City, MO.
Sister Chick was a child of Christian parents and trainihg. She delighted to tell how her father was a deacon for forty yeats in the same Congregational church in Maine, and that her brother is still a deacon in that church. Her father's house was always open to the entertainment of passing Ministers and so she came to have a wide acquaintance with them; and in her later days, though her memory became sadly weakened with advancing age, she recalled, with great facility, the names and experiences of the early days.
At about twelve years of age she heard the call of the Savior to follow him, and soon became a member of the church to which she was always warmly attached, and of which she was an earnest member during the active years of her life. For some years past she had not been able to take an active part in the work or attendance upon the Services of the church, but has kept her membership in the First Baptist Church, of Mendota, her interest in the Lord's cause or service never ceasing until her death. One of the last wishes expressed to her pastor was that she might be a member of the church until she died, and that her children might enjoy, as she had done for sevenyy-five years, the joys and comforts of the Christian's hope.
She came like a sheaf of grain fully ripened to the harvest. Her last sickness was but of a few days duration, and, with but little apparent suffering, she sank without a struggle, like a weary child, to sleep ----- to sleep in Jesus.

One document (Your Ancient Canadian Family Ties) spells his last name as Chicoyne Dr. Jacques Dozois of Montreal has a photocopy of a Frenchdocument that states that he was baptized in 1637, and that hisgodfather's name was Martin. He also has information that Pierre came toCanada in 1666 to Longue-Pointe (on l'Ile de Montreal). His documentsalso indicate that Pierre's last name was spelled Chicoyne. Jacques alsotold me that Chanay was also spelled Chenay.
