This contract David completed, thereby releasing the estate of all encumbrance. The completion of this contract may have been one of the reasons for David's late marriage in 1680 at the age of 31. John Pemberton of Lawford in the County of Essex, weaver, will dated 9 Sep 1653, proved 25 Mar 1654, by John Beeston, sole executor. For my worldly goods being in New England, in the custody of Hercules Woodman, living in Newbery in the County of Essex, or his assigns, I give and bequeath unto my daughter-in-law Deborah Gofe, there born, and to her heirs forever, and all my moveable goods which I now possess in this England, both within doors and without, whatsoever. I do make and ordain my loving kinsman and faithful friend, John Beeston of Dedham, my executor. My depts to be paid within six months next after my decease. My desire is likewise that if my said daughter-in-law should happen to die without heirs that then all the forementioned estate should be equally divided, that is, for my means in New England, to my brother James Pemberton and to my sister Robinson, to be equally divided between them. And for such my other goods my desire is that they may be divided equally between my three brothers, William, Richard, and Thomas. Witnesses were William Winge, John Stud, and Thomas Boston [Ref: Waters England1885 p61]

According to Theresa Fisher, author of 'Forgotten Companions," the Pemberton home place was just east of the current town of Sporsylvania on the only Germanna Road and is now part of the Spotsylvania Battlefield. Although no deed has been found, Larkin Chew (////-1770) ubducated ub gus wukk (27 B\Mar 1770) that he had sold the land to William prior to 1770.
William's will was witnessed by Thomas Colson, Sarah Perry (wife of Thomas Perry), James Hutcherson, and John True (probably son of Robert True, nephew of John True Sr., and brother to Robert True). At the time of the distribution of his estate (1793), the neighbors were Mr. Long, Mr. (Thomas) Colson, Clement Montague, William Scott (probably Colonel William W. Scott (15 Dec 1756 Caroline County-6 Oct 1819) who married on 1 Mar 1781 Ann Jones (1 Mar 1763-18 Dec 1756) of Spotsylvania County.) and William Robinson. Because of who purchased at his estate sale, and documents William participated in as a witness, other relationships are indicated with Harry Robinson, John Lewis, and William Porter/Parker.

Note:
From "A Catalogue of the Names of the First Puritan Settlers of the Colony of Connecticut.":
James, who first settled at Durham. James, the son of Col. James, graduated at Yale College in 1748, and settled in his native town (Durham.) He soon became a gentleman of importance in the colony, and was advanced in military rank. During the war of the Revolution, viz. in 1775, Mr. Wadsworth, who was at this time a colonel, was appointed with Erastus Wolcott and others, a committee to provide for the officers and soldiers and their families, who were prisoners of war at Hartford. In 1776 he was made brigadier general of the battalion of militia raised to reinforce the continental army at N. York. In 1777 he was appointed second major general in the place of Maj. Gen. Huntington. He was one session a member of the Continental Congress. In 1777 he was one of an important committee appointed to revise the militia laws of the State, for the more effectual defence and safety of the country. In 1778 Gen. Wadsworth was again appointed with Cols. Pitkin and Chester, to adjust all accounts of the managers of the lead mines at Middletown. In 1777, upon the passage of the Ten Regiment Bill, Gen. Wadsworth was appointed to command them as brigadier general. He declined marching to Peekskill with the 2000 troops, and Gen. Erastus Wolcott was designated in his stead. In May, 1777, Gen. Wadsworth was ordered to march one-fourth of his brigade, properly officered by his own appointments, to New Haven, to defend the coast. In April, 1778, the Council of Safety directed him to enquire into the state of the guards at New Haven, and to dismiss the militia there in whole or part, at his discretion, &c. I might cite many other instances of public confidence in favor of Gen. Wadsworth during the eventful struggle of the Revolution. He was also for a time a member of the Council of Safety. He was Comptroller of Public Accounts for the State. He was also a prominent member of the Governor's Council. Dr. Field says, in 1789 or '90, he became conscientious about the oath of fidelity to the Constitution of the U. S, and retired from public business. He died in Sept. 1816, aged 87 years. He left no children--he had had two, both of whom died in infancy.
