James Bishop lived in Duxbury and Pembroke, Massachusetts. He married Mary Hudson on December 12, 1665. He owned land on Indian Head River in Duxbury in 1679.
Note: In his book, The Bonney Family, 1898, C. L. Bonney stated that John and James Bonney both married daughters of James Bishop, the Deputy Governor of the Connecticut Colony. THIS IS NOT CORRECT. Part of the confusion is caused by the fact that both the Pembroke and New Haven James Bishops had a wife named Mary and daughters named Elizabeth and Abigail. However the New Haven James Bishop's daughter, Elizabeth, was born May 3, 1657 (7 years before John Bonney) and on September 12, 1667 married Eleazer Giles and his daughter, Abigail, was born October 30, 1659 (12 years before James Bonney) and she married (1) John Talmage and (2) William Maltbie. Mary Bishop's will is further proof of the mistake by C. L. Bonney.

Mary's will was dated August 3, 1732 and was probated on July 7, 1740. It indicates that she resided in Pembroke and that James had died prior to its writing. It mention her sons John, Hudson, James and Ebenezer; her deceased daughters, Abigail Bonney and Mary Lathley, and her still living daughters, Elizabeth Bonney and Hannah Simmons.
WILL OF MARY BISHOP:
. In the name of God Amen. I Mary Bishop of Pembroke in ye County of Plymouth in ye Province of ye Massachusetts Bay in New England, Widow and Relict of James Bishop late of said Pembroke deceas'd being in good health of Body, and of sound and perfect mind and memory Praise be therefore given to Almighty God, Do make and ordain this my present last Will and Testament, in manner and form following (that is to say) First & Principally I commend My soul into ye hands of Almighty God, hoping through ye Merits Death and Passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to have full and free Pardon and Forgiveness of all my Sins and to inherit everlasting Life: And my body I commit to ye Earth to be decently buried at ye discretion of my Executors hereafter named and as touching ye disposition of all such Worldly Estate as I shall Dye Seised of I give and dispose thereof as followeth.

!DEPOSITION BY SON HUMPHREY from Kris Ormond: This is taken from from a book entitled "John Woodbury and Some of his Descendants": A paper found among the manuscripts of the late Perley Derby from the Historical Collections of the Essex Institute.
John Woodbury came from Somersetshire, England, about 1624-25, in the interest of the Dorchester Company which established itself at Cape Ann, now Gloucester, at or shortly before that period. Perhaps no better or cleareraccount can be given of his earlier connection with this company as its agent than to give, in full, the deposition of his son Humphrey, who accompanied him hither on his second return. this deposition is given to offset the celebratedMason's claim to extensive tracts of land in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, and which caused great aggitation among the settlers at the time.
"Feb. 16, 1680-1. Humphrey Woodbury, Beverly, aged 72, testifies, That when I lived in Someretshire in England, I remember that my father, John Woodberye (since deceased)did about 56 years agoe remoove for New England and I then traveled with him as far as Dorchester, Eng. I understood that my father came to New Englandby order of a Company called Dorchester Company (among whome m white of Corchester in England was a active instrument) and that my father and the company with himnbrought cattle and other things to Cape Ann for plantation work & there built an house and kept theire cattell and sett up fishing and afterwards some of them removed to a neck of land since calledSalem. Frank and Clara had no children.
Frank graduated from Provincial Normal, at Fredericton, N.B., Canada,andgraduated from the Acadia Collegiate Academy and got a B.A. at AcadiaUniversity in Wolfville, N.S. in 1909 from Newton, Theol. Institute(B.D.) Newton Centre, Mass. in 1912, and the Army Chaplains, and ServiceSchool in Camp Grand, Ill. in 1920.
He taught in the public schools of N.B. for two years in 1904. He was alocal minister and pastor at Windsor Baptist Church and ordained BaptistClergyman, Newport, N.S. until 1909 then to Dorchester, Mass., until July1910. He was also a pastor in Newton, Mass. and Bridgeport, Conn.
On October 23, 1917, he was commissioned 1st Lt. Chaplain in the U.S.Army, he served in Arizona, Ft. Sill, Okla., was sent to France in 1918.He was with the Meuse-Argome Offensive back to America in July 1919. Hewent to Army War College as Post Chaplain, served temporary dutyinSeventh Corp. area, went to summer training center for Civilian Troopsand he was promoted Captain Chaplain in the National Army on 1 August1919 and promoted in the regular Army on the 23 October 1922. Laterhewas in the Phillipines and is now a major and retired. He is living inMeerton Centre, Mass.
