"Alexander MacCausland was one of those who by serving in the Army in Ireland before 1649, became entitled to a share of the forfeited and debenture lands under the scheme of division published at Michaelmas 1653. Bonds, or debentures-at first called debenturs from the world with which the bond began-'were the means adopted by the Government of the Commonwealth to acknowledge its indebtedness for arrears of pay to the officers and soldiers who had been engaged in putting down that Irish Rebellion which commenced in 1641 and continued until 1652. These debentures they were to hold until the forfeited lands could be distributed to them in lots, proportioned to the sum in each case due.' The Montgomery MSS., p. 208, note. Croslegh, n. 7, p. 233.
Served in the army under Charles I in Ireland before the year 1649, as appears by the auditor- general's accounts of the period, wherein the said Alexander is stated to be entitled to a share of the forfeited and debenture lands, and to a share of money as one of the adventurers and soldiers before the rebellion of 1641. He settled in the county of Tyrone, and was at his death possessed of the manors Ardstrath, Mountfield, and others. Of Resh and Ardstraw.
Had an interest in several houses in the city of Cork that were the subject of litigation in a bill in Chancery, PRONI Names Index Reference T581/1 page 360, in the matter titled "McCausland v. Gamble" dated 21 Apr 1673. The interest in the houses apparently arose from his military service as one of the "49 offices".

MEDWAY \endash Elizabeth J. "Betty" Cassidy, 70, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Glassville, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Berrian C. and Harriet J. (McBrine) Swim. Betty was an excellent homemaker who enjoyed reading and cooking for her family. Betty relished time spent with family, especially grandchildren, enjoying nature and all it's beauty. She was also very proud to be a volunteer at the Tri-Town Food Pantry. She is survived by her very special companion, Ed Smith of Medway; her children, Brian Cassidy of Bangor, Helen and husband, Roger Loney, of Greenville, S.C., Cherri and husband, Joey Deveau, of East Millinocket, David Cassidy of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Patti and husband, Dennis Turcotte, of East Millinocket and Murray Cassidy of Rumford; 11 grandchildren, Tammy-Jo Cassidy, Brian Jr. and wife, Kelly Cassidy, and Tiffany Cassidy, Ted Loney, Kate Loney, Chris and Amy Deveau, Daryn and Stacie Deveau, Cameron Cassidy, Tony Turcotte, Aaron Turcotte and Azure Richards, and Andy Turcotte, and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Verda Peabody of East Millinocket, Ernie and Deannie Swim of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Dorie and Duane Sennett of Millinocket, Diane and Sonny Suitter of Houlton, Sheila and Gordon Cook of Miramachi, New Brunswick; many nieces and nephews.

reprinted from The Observer, 2 Jul 1924: On June 27th, Warren M. Rideout of Somerville
died at his home after a lingering illness of heart disease. He was the son of the late George
Rideout and was 65 years old the day he died. He was twice married, his first wife being
Miss Sophia Shaw who predeceased him eight years ago. He leaves to mourn his wife; one
daughter, Mrs. Perry H. Bishop of Coronation, a daughter-in-law Mrs. Annie Rideout of E.
Florenceville; one grandchild Glenna Bishop; three sisters, Mrs. Charles Stevens, Hartland,
Mrs. Nelson Day and Mrs. Harry Shaw of Washington, and a number of other relatives.
The funeral was held from the home on Sunday afternoon by Rev. G.F. Bolster

WYMAN, Lewis A., 69,
OAKLAND - Lewis A. Wyman, 69, died unexpectedlySaturday, Nov. 18, 2000.
He was born in Caribou, Sept. 23, 1931, the son of Roy and Jennie
(McCarty) Wyman. He attended Caribou schools, graduating from Caribou
High School. He graduated from the University of Maine at Fort Kent,
earned his Bachelors Degree at the University of Maine at Presque Isle
and his Masters Degree in Education from the University of Maine at
Orono. He wasa U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Wyman taught
school in Caribou, Hallowell, Richmond and for 25 years as a science
teacher at Williams Jr. High School in Oakland, retiring in 1989. He was
an avid golfer and gardener. Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Ruth K.
Wyman; a son, Nathan V. Wyman of Cumberland, R.I.; a daughter, Dr. Peggy
D. Wyman and husband, Stephen G. Milks ofWorcester, Mass.; two
daughters,
Madeline Miller and Mary Ouellette of Caribou, Delores MacGorman of
Texas, Shirley Harwell and Linda Conant of Pennsylvania; eight brothers,
Rex, John and Kenneth of Caribou, Philip of Houlton, Vaughn and Jack of
Connecticut, Gary of New Jersey and Lee of Arizona, many nieces and
nephews. Friends are invited to visit from 10:15 to 11:15 Tuesday at
Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland with a memorial service to
follow at 11:30 at the Oakland United Baptist Church. Following
cremation, burial will be at Lewis Cem. in Oakland at a later date. In
lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oakland Public
Library Church St., Oakland,ME. 04963.
