The name of Wyman is of German derivation,and was originally spelled
Weymann. The two individuals first named in the following genealogy are
the progenitors of the largest portion of the Wyman family in this
country. The first mention made of them is in Charlestown, Dec. 18,
1640, (see Frothingham, p. 106) s signers of the "town orders" coeval
with the settlement of Woburn. Their descendants have been numerous and
chiefly among the "sturdy yeomanry,", possessing substance and a fair
estimationin the ordinary ranks of life. At the present time the family
is chiefly comprised in that class so ably apostophrized by the poet in
the thrilling liens---
"Heart of the people--WORKING MAN:
Marrow and nerve of human powers;
Who on your sturdy backs sustain,
Through streaming time, this World of Ours."

Lieut. John Wyman and his brother Francis Wyman, were among the first
settlers of Woburn, 1641. They were tanners by occupation, church
members and persons of much respectability and worth. Francis Wyman was
admitted freeman of the colony, May 6, 1667. Their names are often found
associated in legal writings. They owned together five hundred acres of
land at "Shawsheen" [Billerica] in 1655. John Wyman was a selectman of
Woburn, 1666. 1667, and 1673. Francis Wyman was selectman of Woburn,
1674, 1675. A numerous posterity has sprung from them. Francis Wyman
died Nov. 30, 1699, aged 82. John died May 9, 1684. Lieut. John Wyman,
and his eldest son, John, born March 26, 1648, both took part in the
great Narraganset fight, Dec. 19, 1675. The father was wounded, and the
sonwas killed. The son was in Capt. Prentiss' troop of horse. The son
marriedMary Carter, dau. of Rev. Thomas carter. John and Francis Wyman
were, with one exception, the largest landholders in Woburn.

In Dec 1672 a negro servant belonging to John Wyman Senior, being
convicted 'of abuse offered to two of Wamesit Indians wounding them on
the head and elsewhere' is sentenced to pay the Indians ten shillings -
Middlesex County Court Records Vol III. page 47
The two Wyman brothers Francis and John were seventeen and fourteen in
1636 and so probably came over with their older uncles, Samuel and Thomas
Richardson. The first definite record that we find of the Wyman brothers
in New England is when the town order of Charlestown Village (Woburn)
were signed in 1640; which the Richardsons and Wymans all signed. By that
date the Wymans were 21 and 18. John Wyman the brother of Francis was
made a freeman 26 May 1647 at age 25, and Francis a freeman 1657. Later
in 1658 Francis Wyman Sr. in his will said '.. do give and bequeth unto
my two sons Francis Wyman and John Wyman which are beyound sea ten pounds
a piece of Lawful English money to be paid unto them by mine executor if
they be in want and come over to demand the same.'
The Wymans built on what became Wyman St. in Woburn, and by 1666 they
had also built countryfarms in what is now Burlington, a few miles
north, on what became the Billerica boundary.
Overlooked by many is the fact that a grant of land was made inWoburn
on 25 Feb 1679 to a John Wyman, a wheelw

He is named in his father's will in 1784 as the oldest son, with a legacy of 10 shillings "if he ever comes back to this place." He was in Sunderland, MA, in 1767, in Deerfield, in 1770, & in Conway, MA, in 1773. In 1789 he settled in what is now Oaks Corners, NY, preempting 600 acres of land on which he erected the Oaks Corners tavern. Here the first town-meeting was held, & Mr. OAKS was elected the first supervisor of the district of Sullivan, now the town of Phelps. He married Martha, daughter of Nathaniel HAWKS, who died in 1816. Children as far as known: Lucius, Samuel, Thaddeus, referred to below.

When Richard was young, his brother Ed was chopping wood and had
Richard hold the gun. The gun went off and shot off Richard's hand. He
had a wooden hand and a hook in later life.
He taught in the Sidney, Montana School District Five for four terms
from the Fall of 1894 to the spring of 1898. In March of 1896 he took a
homestead and built a home on Fox Creek West of Newlon. In 1898 he went
sheep shearing withthe Charles Stierle crew. (I was told he did a
pretty good job considering he had only one hand.) In September of 1896
he was a Sidney, Montana delegate to the Republican county convention at
Glendive, Montana. In September of 1897 he was one of three trustees
appointed to make arrangements for the construction of the town hall in
Sidney, Montana.

The O'Brien and the MacCarthy families had been warring with each other in southwestern Ireland for many years prior to the Norman invasion of Ireland. Iafracoth or Lafeacott was apparently a persuasive woman. When her son-in-law, Maurice fitzGerald, invaded Ireland in 1171, he took by conquest part of the MacCarthy territory. Initially at least, Maurice did not seize any O'Brien territory.
Most people named O'Brien are descended from Brian mac Cennéidigh, the Ard-Righ (High King) of Ireland usually known as Brian Bóru. Since Lafeacott O'Brien was born only about 150 years after the army of Brian Bóru defeated the Vikings at Clontarf in A.D. 1014, she was undoubtedly aware of her famous ancestor and careful about the spelling of her name. In later generations, the families of (O) Byrne, O'Broin, and Bryan sometimes changed the spelling of their name to O'Brien.

Probably the Olaf slain by the "Saxons" while en route to Rome on a pilgrimage in 1034. Dictionary: Welsh biographer of Gruffydd ap Cynan says Auloed was the King of Dublin and a fifth of Ireland and of Man and many other islands. He was a descendant of Harald Haarfagr. Auloed's wife was the daughter of King Brian, so Gruffydd sprang from the noblest royal lines of Wales, Norway and Ireland. Simpson calls him Anlaf (Olaf) MacSihtric and says also known as Sihtricsson. She also gives vital stats.

She found out at age 16, that she was adopted but her family would not discuss this situation.
She then found a copy of her adoption record that indicated she was adopted by Frank and Irene Parkinson of Lynn, Massachusetts. Her birth mother, Nina M. O'Connell of Rockland, Maine had signed the adoption certicate 11 Sep 1911.
After searching, she found her birth certificate stating that Margaret O'Connell of Rockland Maine and no father listed has given birth to a daughter, Helen A. O'Connell on 17 Oct 1910 in Watertown, Massachusetts. It is believed that the Parkinson's obtained custody of this baby right after the birth and changed her name to Marion Adelaide.
