AUGUSTA -- Merton "Buzz" Wyman, 63, diedFriday, Jan. 16, 2004, at his
home in Augusta.
He was born in Augusta on May 29, 1940, the son of Elmer A. Wyman Sr.
and Myrtle (Graham) Wyman.
Mertonjoined the Marines June 13, 1957, with his brother, Skip, and
served three years in Hawaii. He retired from Tilcon Warron after many
years of service.
Merton enjoyed hunting and fishing with friend, Lawrence, and taking
care of his garden.
Merton was predeceased by his parents and a son, Jeffrey E. Wyman.
He is survived by a son, Jason D. Wyman, and his wife, Kerri; two
daughters,Joann Ross and Brenda Ames; two grandsons, Ayden Wyman and
Caleb Ross; threegranddaughters, Brittany Ross, and Kourtney and Karissa
Ames; one brother, Elmer A. Wyman Jr., and his wife, Leone; and seven
sisters, Rachel Parent, Loretta Grenier and her husband, Gerald, Jane
Steeb and her husband, Paul, Shirley Cottrell and her husband, Larry,
Sylvia Sprague and her husband, David, Janet Paquette and her husband,
Daniel, and Gail Obliske and her husband, Chuck; and many nieces and
nephews.
A graveside service will be held in May at Pine Grove Cemetery,
Belgrade.
Arrangements are by Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St.,
Augusta.

3 WYMAN, William W,b Oak Bay NB 19 Apr (17 Apr according to Woodward)
1840, came to West Waterville in 1852. He enlisted in Co G, 3rd Maine
Inf, and was wounded in the handat Bull Run. Discharged, he re-enlisted
as a private in Co B 21st Maine Infantry; promoted to Sergeant, he was a
guard while the regiment was at East NewYork, NY. He volunteered in the
storming party at Port Hudson LA on 27 May 1863, and was wounded in the
attack. He died in the hospital on 1 June and (according to Woodward,
p143) was buried in the National Cemetery, Baton Rouge LA., though Lewis
Cemetery records list him as being buried there.

polisher. He was a member of Sgt Wyman Post, GAR; collector and treasurer
of the town of Oakland, and trustee of Cascade Savings Bank. Bur with
them is G B FRIZZELL who d 1 Sep 1927 age 80y.

From the Valley Times February 17, 1870
Monday afternoon of last week, as Mr. William Yeaton, working at Manchester, was engaged in rolling logs down a steep bank, he passed in front of a pile to arrange the large sleepers upon which the logs were to roll. While engaged in so doing, one of the largest logs, over three feet in diameter, started from its position, and Mr. Yeaton, in endeavoring to escape, slipped and fell over one of the sleepers, and the log rolled directly upon him instantly. Had he fallen between the sleepers he would have been safe. He was about twenty seven years old and was unmarried. He was the son of Warren Yeaton, and was brought to Epsom for burial.

. Yngvar, who was King Eystein's son, then became king of Sweden. He w
as a great warrior, and often lay out with his warships; for the Swedish d
ominions were much ravaged then by Danes and East-country men. King Yngv
ar made a peace with the Danes; but betook himself to ravaging theEast co
untry in return. One summer he went with his forces to Estland, and plunde
red at a place called Stein. The men of Estland came down from the interi
or with a great army, and there was a battle; but the army of the count
ry was so brave that the Swedes could not withstand them, and King Yngv
ar fell, and his people fled. He was buried close to the seashore und
er a mound in Estland; and after this defeat the Swedes returned home. Thj
odolf sings of it thus: --
"Certain it is the Estland foe
The fair-haired Swedish king laid low.
On Estland's strand, o'er Swedish graves,
The East Sea sings her song of waves;
King Yngvar's dirge is ocean's roar

ho succeeded him. In his days there was peace in Sweden, and he became ri
ch in valuable goods. King Onund went with his army to Estland to avenge h
is father, and landed and ravaged the country round far and wide, and retu
rned with a great booty in autumn to Sweden. In his time there werefruitf
ul seasons in Sweden, so that he was one of the most popular of kings.Swe
den is a great forest land, and there are such great uninhabited fores
ts in it that it is a journey of many days to cross them. Onund bestowed g
reatdiligence and expense on opening the woods and cultivating the clear
ed land.He made roads through the desert forests; and thus cleared la
nd is found allthrough the forest country, and great districts are settle
d. In this way extensive tracts of land were brought into cultivation, f
or there were country people enough to cultivate the land. Onund had roa
ds made through all Sweden, both through forests and morasses, and also ov
er mountains; and he was therefore called Onund Roadmaker. He had a hou

Jorund, King Yngve's son, remained king at Upsal. He ruled the country; b
ut was often in summer out on war expeditions. One summer he went with h
is forces to Denmark; and having plundered all around in Jutland, he we
nt into Lymfjord in autumn, and marauded there also. While he was thus lyi
ng in Oddesund with his people, King Gylog of Halogaland, a son of King Gu
dlog, of whom mention is made before, came up with a great force, and ga
ve battle to Jorund. Whenthe country people saw this they swarmed from a
ll parts towards the battle, in great ships and small; and Jorund was over
powered by the multitude, and his ships cleared of their men. He sprang ov
erboard, but was made prisoner and carried to the land. Gylog ordered a ga
llows to be erected, led Jorund to it,and had him hanged there. So end
ed his life. Thjodolf talks of this event thus: --
"Jorund has travelled far and wide,
But the same horse he must bestride
On which he made brave Gudlog ride.
