General Notes: Child - David Van Tassel

The witnesses/sponsors at his baptism were: David Hemmen, Marritie his wife. He enlisted in in Co. Drake's regiment (1st ), and in Capt. Honeywell's company under Col. Hammond. He was captured by the British and held prisoner from July 2, 1779 until Nov. 5, 1780. In 1785 he bought the leasehold of the farm he was living on in Ossining (probably his grandfather Jacob Van Tassel's leasehold) from the Commission of Forfeitures. In 1786 he sold this property and moved to New York.
