Here's what I have relative to the Dewings:
Stephen and Eva Dewing were the owners of the large lot at Parker and Ellsworth by 1903, the year that the first house, Corner House, was built on what is now the Collective’s land. Corner House was designed by a San Francisco architect, F.B. Wood, and built by Joseph Francis at a cost of $3,093. The house was originally built with gaslights—the plumbing for the original lights is still in the walls. The Dewings were originally from Connecticut, where he had been a farmer.
By the turn of the century, the 2200 block of Parker was part of the growing city of Berkeley—the city limit had previously been Fulton Street. Although private water company lines had been laid in the streets, water availability remained iffy until the formation of EBMUD in the 1920s. Perhaps for that reason, a 25 or 30 foot deep, brick-lined well was dug in the backyard (it’s still there, covered by a steel plate, partially underneath the back porch of the Ellsworth house). The water was pumped by windmill to a large wooden tank surmounting the heavy framing timbers and brick foundation of the Water Tower.
The Dewings kept their horses in a 1½ story stable/carriage house in the backyard, where the vegetable garden grows now. A tennis court, surrounded by persimmon trees, lay where the Parker house now stands.

Henry Dewing, who was Stephen and Eva’s son, was Ms. Davis’ professor of Latin at U.C. Berkeley, circa 1908, and also taught at Berkeley High School.
Eva Dewing had the 2239-41 Parker and 2538-40 Ellsworth houses built in 1908 as rental properties. (Her relationship to her husband at this time is unclear—he’s shown in the 1910 census as living with her and a son and daughter in Berkeley, with the address mis-stated as 2540 Dana rather than 2550 Ellsworth—and he appears a second time in the 1910 census living near Walnut Creek with a son, apparently involved in ranching. At the time, he was 62 and she was 57.) One assumes that she must have wanted to use the land to generate income for herself. Interestingly, if that was her purpose, she chose to build very fine houses designed by one of the most prominent architects in the state, Joseph Cather Newsom. Joseph and his brother Samuel built many well-known houses up and down the state, such as the elaborate Carson House in Eureka.
The exterior designs of the two houses are essentially the same, except reversing right and left, but the interior layouts are different and the Parker House was built with a semi-finished attic. As with Corner House, each had a stained cedar shingle exterior and, originally, also a cedar shingle roof. The Parker and Ellsworth houses were each built from the outset as an upstairs and downstairs two-family duplex and each cost $4,000 to construct. The houses include nice architectural details, such as the clinker brick fireplaces and chimneys, redwood exterior faux beams, oak floors with walnut inlays, redwood wainscoting with built-in cabinets, coved ceilings, redwood flower boxes outside the second floor windows, and redwood gutters. Knob and tube electric wiring was incorporated. The contractor was Walter Busher of Oakland

Samuel S. Hopkins and Charles W. Allen were major American Arms makers from 1868 - 1915 in Norwich CT. They made "Suicide Special" spur trigger revolvers, so called because they were said to be more dangerous to the person shooting them than the thing they were shooting at. These are normally of little value to collectors.
The Hopkins and Allen company was one of the most important of the early New England firearms manufacturers. The company was formed in 1868 at Norwich Connecticut, and began making Suicide special revolvers and small rifles. The Suicide Specials made by the company are of good quality and appear in many grades and variations. A majority are marked with their trade name, such as Bulldog, as well as the company name and patent dates. In 1902, the Hopkins and Allen firm purchased the Forehand and Wadsworth company, when the Hopkins and Allen company was merged with the Marlin-Rockwell Corporation.
The company laid claim to being "the largest manufacturers of high-grade, popular priced firearms in the world".

Henry Brooks was a resident of Concord Ma in 1639. He married and had children prior to arriving in Woburn Ma about 1650. He was a clothier and a selectman several years. He purchased a frame house and 178 acres of land at Horn Pond in Woburn from William Brackenbury of Charlestown on 20 Dec 1650. In a suit brought in Dec 1658 Henry testified that he was then about 66 years old; twenty-four years later in his will he described himself as stricken in years and about 91 years old. In Woburn records of 1678, Henry's homestead estate is described as located on South Street (presently lower Main Street). Henry's will, dated 18 Jul 1682, names his wife Anne, son-in-law John Mousall, sons John Timothy and Isaac, and daughters Sarah and Ann, and
Lestor' (i.e. Ann, wife of Andrew Lester). Henry had at least 3 and perhaps 4 wives. Last one mentioned was Ann in will, married 6 days before the will.

His second wife was Susanna d 1681 widow of Ezekiel Richardson. He married her before 27 Mar 1651.
His third wife was Annis Jaquith he married her on 12 Jul 1682. In his will he mentions Annis and his children, John, Timothy, and Sarah who were still living. But the children's mother is not listed. However they were likely by his first wife. His second wife would have been past her childbearing years.
There are some references stating Henry was married to Grace Wheeler, but that is very unlikely. Grace is listed as the wife of Capt. Thomas Brooks and she died in 1664. At that time Henry was married to his second wife, and if he was not we would know it because Susanna's first husband Ezekiel Richardson was very famous and his history and those around him are well documented.
