!See notes of husband. The FGRA sheet and the one sent by Janet Pease has Mary as the name of the first wife but the article by Annis Speare doesn't give her any name. An article in 'NEHGR' vol. 104 (1950), pg 221, by George E. McCracken, of Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, gives the transcript of the will of Arthur Howland. He mentions an earlier transcription and says the name of the widow was given in it as Mary in three places and then further in the article it says her name was Margaret. This may be where the name of the first wife came from. I have found no other source which gives her name. LDS proxy temple ordinances are from the FGRA sheet.

The Wyman Family (Collected by T. B. Wyman, Jr. of Charlestown, MA, NEHGR
Vol. 3, pg 33:
The name of Wyman is of German derivation, and was originally spelled
Weymann. The two individuals first named in the following genealogy are
the progenitors of the largest portion of the Wyman family in this
country. The first mention made of them is in Charlestown, Dec. 18,
1640, (see Frothingham, p. 106) s signers of the "town orders" coeval
with the settlement of Woburn. Their descendants have been numerous and
chiefly among the "sturdy yeomanry,", possessing substance and a fair
estimationin the ordinary ranks of life. At the present time the family
is chiefly comprised in that class so ably apostophrized by the poet in
the thrilling liens---
"Heart of the people--WORKING MAN:
Marrow and nerve of human powers;
Who on your sturdy backs sustain,
Through streaming time, this World of Ours."
FIRST GENERATION:

The Richardson Memorial by John Adams Vinton, 1876 printed by Brown

Lieut. John Wyman and his brother Francis Wyman, were among the first
settlers of Woburn, 1641. They were tanners by occupation, church
members and persons of much respectability and worth. Francis Wyman was
admitted freeman of the colony, May 6, 1667. Their names are often found
associated in legal writings. They owned together five hundred acres of
land at "Shawsheen" [Billerica] in 1655. John Wyman was a selectman of
Woburn, 1666. 1667, and 1673. Francis Wyman was selectman of Woburn,
1674, 1675. A numerous posterity has sprung from them. Francis Wyman
died Nov. 30, 1699, aged 82. John died May 9, 1684. Lieut. John Wyman,
and his eldest son, John, born March 26, 1648, both took part in the
great Narraganset fight, Dec. 19, 1675. The father was wounded, and the
sonwas killed. The son was in Capt. Prentiss' troop of horse. The son
marriedMary Carter, dau. of Rev. Thomas carter. John and Francis Wyman
were, with one exception, the largest landholders in Woburn.

aged about 82 years, died November 28th, 1699 [an error of 1 or 2 years]
'The memory of ye just is blessed'
Proof of the lineage of Francis and John Wyman of Woburn is from
Water's 'Genealogical Gleanings in England' and from Threlfall's 'Fifty
Great Migration Colonists to New England & Their Origins'. The English
Wymans are well covered in 'The Wymans/Whymans of Hertfordshire' by
Christine E. Jackson of Amberly, Herts, England.
To take possession of this extensive territory a party of fifty or
sixty persons, under John Endicott, was sent out to Salem the following
June, and another party of two hundred, under Francis Higginson, the year
after. In the year 1630, seventeen ships in all, but not all together,
brought at least one thousand passengers from England, as estimated by
Palfrey in his History of New England, though commonly reckoned at
fifteen hundred. Of these ships the Lion left Bristol in February,
bringing people from the west of England; the Mary and John sailed from
Plymouth March 20th, and arrived May 30th, bringing passengers from
Devonshire, Dorsetshire, and Somersetshire. Four ships, the Arbella,
Jewel, Ambrose, and Talbot, left the Isle of Wight together, on the 8th
of April, having on board Winthrop, Dudley, Isaac J

General Notes: Husband - Thomas Reed

"thomas Read, son of thomas read of colchester, was in sudbury, mass. as earlyas 1654. He settled in the lanham district, on land which he purchased from his uncle, rev. edmund brown, while he (thomas) was still in england. this locality was probably called lanham by mr. brown from a little place in england spelled larenham, but pronounced lanham, near sudbury, or between sudbury and bury st. edmonds, from which locality mr. brown and thomas are supposed to have come."
"thomas was a fairly prominent citizen of sudbury. he became a freeman in 1656. he was early appointed one of the tything men at the church, and in 1677 hewas one of the men to whom the town gave permission to build a sawmill on the hop river. his place at lanham remained in the family for many years and his descendants have been useful citizens."
thomas married first, katherine, whose maiden name is not known. they were probably married in england. The sudbury vital records give the death of katherine, wife of thomas, on sept. 26, 1677. thomas married again on dec. 29, 1689, arabella thong. thomas died on sept. 13, 1701. arabella survived him, living until apr. 29, 1717. we have no definite record of thomas' children, who may have been born in england, exept one son:"

The Richardson Memorial by John Adams Vinton, 1876, Brown & Thurston Co.,
Portland, ME, pg 165-166:
MARY SALINA RICHARDSON, dau. of Josiah and Mary Pierce(Leach)
Richardson of Jay, Me.; born there, May 23, 1814; m., 1836, Dan Reade,
born 1812, seventh son of Dan Reade, Esq., who came from Attleborough,
Mass., his native place to Lewiston, Me., in the early days of the town
last named. His mother was Susanna Hart, born in Durban, Maine. Dan
Reade, the father, was the first schoolmaster, the first postmaster, the
first town-clerk,the first justice of the peace, the first selectman,
and the first representative ever chosen in the town of Lewiston, Maine.
Dan Reade, the son suffered from ill health, when a boy, and was,
therefore, unaccustomed to manual labor. He "kept store" a number of
years, and became a sort of speculator. He has acquired some property
and likes fine horses. He has been agent for several parties at a
distance, and is a smart, capable man. He never smokes, neveruses
profane words, and has not tasted of intoxicating liquors these forty
years. He enjoys good health, and is always cheerful. His residence is
nowAuburn, Me., formerly Danville, on the Androscoggin River, and
opposite Lewiston.
His wife, the principal subject of this notice, is a capable, active,
cheerful, and well educated woman. She suffers much from bad health, and
though she writes much, is often obliged to write in a recumbent
posture. She is nervous, impulsive, and wide0-awake. She has written
for the papers since she was fourteen years old. She has a talent for
poetry, and in her younger years published a small volume of poems. Her
fugitive pieces are frequently seen in print, and are read on public and
festive occasions. She has corresponded with several eminent writers.
She is, in religious sentiment, a Unitarian, like her father. She has
taken a lively interest in this RICHARDSON MEMORIAL, and has rendered the
compiler very important assistance.

John, thanks for replying to my email. I need to ask you if you are
writing a book or what? Who all and what all are in your database(s)?
Would you believe that I printed info on Eliot Frost that I found on
Ancestry.com on 6 Apr 2002 (yes, a year ago) and just now noticed that
the author was you. Yep, John Kaherl. Isn't this you? WOW! Wish I had
emailed you 15 months ago. I was going through my Richardson book to get
you the dates of Jerusha's marriages when I noticed your name with my
Frost stuff.
My source:FHL film #0012303 Vital Records 1771-1892, Winslow Town
Clerk, Winslow, ME.I viewed the film while visiting the Maine State
Library and Archives. Hereis a what I copied from my notes:
"Town of Winslow Vital Records recorded Page 240, Vol I: Joseph
Richardson and Rushey Reead married 10 Dec 1778. The above was microfilm
found at Maine State Archives June 14-17, 2000.
Note the nickname and spelling of Reead."
And the same source "Marriage Intention dated 18 Mar 1797 between
Solomon Parker and
Jerusha Richardson.
Note the spelling of Jerusha."
John, I made a notation about spelling because earlier I had found the
birth info on Joseph Richardson and it showed "Gerusha" as spelling.
I have some info on all the children of Joseph and Jerusha and I have
tonsof info on the family of Ebenezer Richardson (the youngest child b.
2 Aug 1794, Winslow, Kennebec, ME) and his 2 wives. Ebenezer had 7
children with hisfirst wife Sylvia Brockway and 8 children with second
wife Sarah J. (Sally) Frost. Yep, you guessed it. My great grandfather
was Albert Richardson, son of Eben and Sarah. And my research on the
Frost family is how I found your research last year. Wow, huh? Sarah J.
(Sally) Frost was b.13 Oct 1812 in Canaan, ME daughter of Eliot Frost and
Mercy. Your research shows Margry Worster as the mother so I am guessing
that Mercy was a nickname?
Well, this emailis getting rather lengthy. You may use me as a source
for the above information and please do. Nothing annoys me more than a
newbie citing sources as if they were their own or not showing sources at
all. I have found so much mis-information on the internet and I was SO
VERY impressed with your style andsources shown. My hat is off to you!
And thanks, too, for your reply.
When we lived in NH, I made two trips to Maine to do research. I found
quite a bit at Augusta in 2000 and I was able to view the original Town
Clerk recordsin Canaan Maine in 2002. I also found Probate records and
Deed records for Jerusha but nothing on her birth or parents..
Unfortunately most of my research is still in the paper form. I am just
now starting to get it entered on the PAF program from LDS
Familysearch.com.
Hey, are you in Maine? Keith and I now live in Indialantic FL...a long
long long way from Maine (cry). I am most interested in your research
and especially learning your goal? Are you trying to be another Vinton?
just teasing!
John, please stay in touch and asI progress with my typing PAF files I
will keep you posted. More questions, just ask me, please. Cheers, Jan

Any unsourced data has been gathered from various, and not necessarily reliable, sources. I know there are some duplications due to missing dates, but I am updating and correcting this as often as possible. So if you find errors/omissions/duplications, please let me know. The concept here is backwards to the norm, in that I'm entering everything I find, and gradually authenticating what I can. At the very least, I figure it might give others an idea of where to head as they search for their own authenticating data.
