He was a Lieutenant in the Rowley Foot Company from 1681-1698, having been a Sargeant in 1686. Served 6 years as representative to the General Court and was a selectman from Rowley, who with others in 1687, made resistance against the tax rates - an early rebellion against "taxation without representation" which caused several to be fined or imprisoned in Boston. From Gage's History of Rowley, page 151. "2 Nov 1677: The selectmen met and pursuant to a lwa of the province, appointed ... (to include) John DRESSER, George Kilbourne, James Brker, William Foster, and Thomas Wood Sr. to se to it that the Sabbath is duly observed in town and the village; and it is intended that they shall have the special inspection of those famillies that are nearest to their house, on either or both sides of them."
In 1680, the town appointed 9 tythingmen for the town, to include John DRESSER Jr. He moved from Rowley to Newbury before 13 April 1721.

MarriagesAt The Old Corn Hill Methodist Church, Utica, N.Y., 1854-1886
Reference to the Church: Utica for a Century and A Half, by T. Wood Clarke, Utica, N. Y.: The Widtman Press, 1952: South Street Methodist Church (Corn Hill Methodist) - This church was organized in 1852, with eighty-two members, under the leadership of Thomas J. Francis, and the following year built a small church on South Street. The first pastor was John Inskip. The church continued to thrive until 1920, when it then became affiliated with the Central M.E. Church.
These marriages records were abstracted from a list of marriages that took place in Utica, Oneida County, N.Y. at the former Corn Hill Methodist Church. Originally "transcribed through the courtesy of Rev. Roger F. Williams of the Northern New York Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church." Copied by Alice Payne Garder (Mrs. Henry) of Utica for the General Winfield Scott branch NSDAR, West Winfield, 1942. It was noted in the original D.A.R. transcription (1942) that the church was "now South Street M.E. Church". All spellings and question marks are exactly as in the typescript. The transcriber, Mrs. Alice Payne Garder, stated that some of the pages were difficult to read so spellings are her interpretation.
Many thanks to Martha Magill, coordinator of the Herkimer/Montgomery Counties GenWeb, for contributing these marriage records.

Came to Gloucester in 1674. At this point, once again, am going by what the " Essex Institute " states is the logical conclusion that the father of Thomas Lufkin must certainly be Hugh..."Babson's, History of Gloucester
General Notes: Wife - Mary
President Chester A. Arthur is a descendant.
"The History of the Descendants of Ortho Stevens" by Robert Croll Stevens, raises the possbility that Thomas Lufkin's wife, Mary, may have been a Native American, of perhaps the St. Regis tribe of New York. The text contains a note that Abigail Kent, Mary's grandchild, was one-fourth Indian. The other three grandparents are known to be English, therefore Mary must have been the full-blooded Indian.

Born: 1549 - Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Baptized: Died: October 19, 1614 - Banbury, Oxon, England Buried: October 19, 1614 - Banbury, Oxon, England AFN: 93VH-7G; RRC7-GV
Father: Godfredus Wynge Mother: Grant
Marriage: 1573 - England
Noted events in his life were:

The vital records of St. Mary's church at Banbury had been kept for eighteen years before the name Wing appeared upon the church books, in April, 1576, when the baptism of Matthew's second son, Thomas, was recorded. The fact that from this time on for a period of more than one hundred years the name of the family appears with regularity and frequency, it may be surmised that Matthew and his wife Mary married, elsewhere, and that th, Banbury.[CI::1571:?4:CI], Joseph Wing's will, 1, Brig

Birth Notes: Husband - Matthew Wing
The first known mention we have of Matthew Wing is contained in the, records of St. Mary's Church at Banbury, under date of 21 April 1576,, when his second son, Thomas, was "christened." There is no record of, his marriage or of the birth of his oldest son Fulk. From this, we, infer that Matthew was born in the days of the boy king, Edward VI,, about the year 1548-50. The records of St. Mary's go back to 1558,, the year of Queen Elizabeth's as:1571:?4:CI], Joseph Wing's will, 1, Brig
Burial Notes: Husband - Matthew Wing
Matthew Wing, Taylor, was Buried 19th October, 1614.[CI:2856:?4:CI], Mathew Wing made the request in his will that his body should be buried in St. Mary's churchyard. Somewhere in this ancient burial grounds lie the bodies of Matthew and Mary. There are no memorial stones in the burial ground. In his history of the "Former Parish Church of Banbury," Mr. William Potts thus refers to the absence of ancient gravestones in the burial grounds. No St:1571:?4:CI], Joseph Wing's will, 1, Brig
