387- "Francis Brown of Rye- Makes over to Joseph Horton Sr. all

pay ' John Ogden's children their legacies when they come to
full age'. April 7, 1687. Joseph Horton Sr. makes over all the
above lands to Judith, wife of Francis Brown, with same
conditions. April 17, 1687. * Judith Brown was daughter of John
Budd, and probably widow of John Ogden" (b) Pg 381- "John Budd
of Rye- Gives to Judith Browne, 'the daughter of my honored

A paper written by his grand nephew in 1869 stated that Cyrus was a sc out with a militia protecting the frontier from Indians during the Rev olution, he was a prisoner in Montreall and Quebeck Canada until the s pring of 1783. After the fort he was at surredered to an army of five hundred British, and about as many Indians.

Samuel and Mary crossed the plains to Oregon in 1848 and took a donati on land claim in Yamhill Co. They moved to California in the summer o f 1852, then returned to Iowa by way of Nicaragua and New Orleans in t he spring and summer of 1853. They again crossed the plains to Califor nia in 1858. In 1860 they are found again in Yamhill Co. Ore.

In May of 1763 Samuel moved to Ft. Edward, N. Y. where they resided un til the spring of 1783, at which time they moved to the mouth of the U nadilla River on the Susquehanna River. After the death of Sarah, Samu el married in 1773 to Susan Morse or Moss. In 1792 the family moved t o the famed Genesee Country and settled on and near the center of town ship 8th and first range. Also known as Benton Center, Yates County, N .Y. Samuel died 26 Sept. 1809 at Benton Center and Susan died in Chaut auqua County, N.Y.
while living with her youngest daughter, Matilda.

"During the war he held a captain's commission, and was active as a ca ptain of militia in protecting the frontier from Indians. He was calle d upon to raise a quota of troops, to increase the military strenght o f Fort Ann. He proposed to do it by volunteering, provided enough woul d volunteer. On trying they lacked one man, when he turned to his boys , Samuel and Cyrus,
and said, 'One of you may go'. They took turns in doing duty in the fo rt.
On the 9th of October 1780, the scout, sent over to Lake George, Cross ed the trail of what then was called an army. The scout then returned and reported. (This was our Uncle Cyrus). Father (Samuel Buell,Jr.) wa s sent to notify some of the neighbors to come into the fort. Next sa y the fort surrendered to an army of five hundred British, and about a s many Indians.

Their 1st born was Sarah, b. 7 May 1761. Samuel, the 2nd child and th e rest of their 8 children were all b. after they removed to Ft. Edwar d NY. The others were Cyrus, Polly, Betsy, and Ichabod.
Samuel remarried about 1773 to Susan Morse, who bore him 8 children. T hey moved to Benton Ctr, NY in 1792, where he died 26 Sep 1809.

Samuel and Mary crossed the plains to Oregon in 1848 and took a donati on land claim in Yamhill Co. They moved to California in the summer o f 1852, then returned to Iowa by way of Nicaragua and New Orleans in t he spring and summer of 1853. They again crossed the plains to Califor nia in 1858. In 1860 they are found again in Yamhill Co. Ore.

General Notes: Child - Cyrus Buell
A paper written by his grand nephew in 1869 stated that Cyrus was a sc out with a militia protecting the frontier from Indians during the Rev olution, he was a prisoner in Montreall and Quebeck Canada until the s pring of 1783. After the fort he was at surredered to an army of five hundred British, and about as many Indians.

From the "Genealogical Account of the Buells" by Elias Buell, May 23,
1870:
"......from England, settled in Dorchester near Boston about the year 1630. From this company a part of a colony was formed, which in 1635 c ame through the wilderness, as it was called, and established themselv es on the Connecticut River, making settlement at Wethersfield, Hartfo rd and Windsor. It appears by the Windsor records that ....part of th e company which emigrated with their pastoral leader...was Wm. Buell p robably the common ancester of the Buell name in this country."
CONNECTICUT PURITAN SETTLERS 1633-1845
Buell, William, (in No. 1,) married in 1640, and had children, Samuel , Peter, Mary, Hannah, Hepzibah, Sarah and Abigail. His son Samuel, se ttled in Killingworth, and had a son Samuel. Peter, of Simsbury, in '8 6, was chosen sergeant of the train-band, in Simsbury, and was orderl y proclaimed by the chief military officer there, sergeant of the
train-band by 23 votes. He was also, in '87, voted 20s. for his deputy ship and expenses. In Simsbury, the deacons published all persons for marriage, as late as 1786. Widow Mary Buell, of Windsor, died in 1684 . Children, Mary Mills, Hannah Palmer, Hepzibah Wells, and Hannah--gra nd children, Mary and Sarah Palmer. Thomas Buell and Edward Stebbins w ere ordered to take the charge and management of the estate of Mr. Hop kins, deceased, in '61. In '62 Samuel Buell married Deborah Griswold, and in '63 had a son Samuel. John Buell, moved from Windsor to Killing worth, with his father--then to Lebanon, and afterwards to
Litchfield--and not William, as in No. 1.Notes of Cluff Francis resear ch records: William Buell's sea chest is in
