Ichabod's mother may have died during, or just after his birth. the hebrew meaning of his name is " the glory of God is departed." perhaps, the name signifies Jonathan,sr. sorrow.
Considering that Ichabod is about 10 years old whenthey moved to Granville, he may have tired of the 'small town atmosphere" of Granville, and set out for hartford to live with an Aunt Mehitable. this may apply to him:
{I, Ichabod Forbs, a minor 15 years of age, before this court made choice of Mehetabel Cole of Hartford, to be his guardian, which choice this court allows; and the said mehetabel has appeared before this court, and acknowledged herself bound to the judge of the court, or his summons, in a recognizance of ___________ that she will faithfully discharge the task of a Guardian tosaid minor during his minority, according to law.
Hartford probate records. 1761- 1770
the book, EAST HARTFORD; ITS HISTORY AND TRADITIONS, by joseph o goodwin, pg 62 shows Ichabod Forbes in East hartford by 1793.

1831 preceded his family to Cassville, WI grant co. where he joined his friend, Major Glendower Price, from Philadelphia, who had arried not too long before. Their wives were sisters. Both in 1832 participated in the Black Hawk War in1834. "Mrs Anna Forbes with two children, one two years old (Harriet P. B 1832) and the other "your humble servent " (Josephine C. b: 1834), arrived in Cassville and were greeted by Mrs. Harriet (Hardin or Riley) Price, her sister and wife of Glendower Price. These children were born in Philadelphia. 1842-45 resided in Lancaster, WI grant co. "james Otis was removed as postmaster (was unsympathetic to the tyler administration) and Benjamin F. Forbes, from cassville, was appointed in his place. Living in the home vacated by Mr. Scott Postmaster at Lancaster, WI. Grant co. 1845 kept a hotel on the site of the Callie residence. The house caught fire and was totally destroyed by a defective flue inthe attic. This was lancaster's first fire. Little exept clothing was saved. After the fire he moved accross the Mississippi River to Jacksonville, IA clayton co. (Possibly returned to Cassville to keep a hotel and then returned to Jacksonville, at that time named changed to Garnavillo)" (7) Located in Jacksonville, before Sept 1845 , as a hotel keeper, possibly bough farmland in 1848 in garnavillo. Many grand balls and parties were held at his hotel. 1849, he followed the "gold rush" to Marysville, California Butte co. the metropolis of the gold hills. he took a string of pack mules, laden with mining supplies and followed the trail to the hills, prospecting as he went. Drifting into Butte co. where he found a few scatered miners, casting his lot with them, gold was foundright in the little creek (south Fork of the Feather River) that ran through his camp. This started a mad rush for the little camp of Forbes. Soon opened upa general merchandise store. Sent to Washington D.C. for a post office charter, thus he founded Forbestown,CA in Butte co. sept 1 1850. Made a strike, $30,000. he turned his general store over to his brother Jared J. Nathan forbes, revolutionary war pension file includes an affidavit where nathan cites that he was with captain john ferguson's company, colonel samuel Brewer's regimentfrom about may 1, 1776 to his discharge at bennington, VT in apr. 1777: service 4 days; company marched towards bennington an alarm.I can place nathan's granville residence within spitting distance of jonathan forbes, sr. property. johnathan purchased 50 acres from benjamin woodbury, but he confused benjamin's surname with the preacher who married him to mehetable, at one point, by using "woodbridge." johnathan eventually transferred his 50 acres to james and jonathan jr.

EDITH FORD ARTZ
CASTINE - A beautiful lady beloved by her family and many friends, Edith "Edie" Artz passed away peacefully Sept. 14, 2005, at Blue Hill Hospital, after suffering a stroke. Edie was one of twin daughters (her twin being Fran Cooke, also of Castine) born May 25, 1920, in Attleboro, Mass., to Mary (Campbell) and Everett Ford. A descendent of a long line of "Mainers" and ever proud of her Maine heritage, she spent many of her summers as a child and young adult in the Campbell family home in Cherryfield and on Pond Island in Narraguagus Bay. A graduate of Walnut Hill School in Natick, Mass., where she grew up, Edie went on to study pre-med at Smith College and graduated in 1941, as did her sister Fran. After Smith, she studied nursing for a year at Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, before marrying Harvard Medical School student, Walt Goodale, who became a leading cardiologist. She worked as a medical laboratory technician in Boston during World War II before starting a family with Dr. Goodale, with the first of four children being born in 1945. After her marriage to Dr. Goodale ended in divorce in 1966, Edie worked as Dean of Students at Rosemary Hall School in Greenwich, Conn., and then at the Stockbridge School in Massachusetts. In 1968, she married prominent educator, Nat French, who headed Alamoosook Island Camp in Orland for years and skippered the schooner, "Alamar" out of Castine. Following Nat's death in 1983, Edie moved from Massachusetts to the house on Dresser Lane in Castine, where she lived the rest of her days. In 1987, she married fellow Castine resident John Artz, with whom she enjoyed sailing and traveling. In her waning years, Edie also developed her skills as an amateur artist. Edie Artz loved music and fine art, good food and fine wine, mountains and skiing, sailing and the Maine seacoast. Above all, though, she loved people, readily making and keeping many friends of all ages and from all walks of life. Quite a few "kids" called Edie "Mom", in addition to her four Goodale children: Rose, Steve, Zandy, and Pen, all of whom survive her as do her husband, John; and sister, Fran. The family plans to hold a celebration of Edie Artz's life next August in Castine, allowing more of her "kids" and grandchildren to participate. All of her family and friends will deeply miss this most lovely lady. Arrangements by Acadia Burial & Cremation Direct 248 State St., Ellsworth.

His and his wife's monuments are yet standing in the old Cambridge parish churchyard. This church was established in 1636. The monuments are of thick slate and have withstood time's elements remarkably well, the inscriptions being quite legible.

...His name was spelled Gypson in this marraige record.
...If the birthdate given for James Jepson 8 Feb. 1752 in the Monroe records is correct, she apparently died at his birth or shortly thereafter. However, it is very probable that if he is actually her son, his birthdate is incorrectly given, at least with regard to the year or else his father made intentions to marry again very quickly after his first wife's death information taken from "The Descendents of William Jepson"By Alan Hawkins
