After leaving Amherst he went to Mt. Dora,Florida, where he made his home until his death, April 22, 1925, at theage of 85 years. Mrs. Sarah B. Huntress, widow of Mr. Huntress, who willbe ninety-six years old on the 16th of July (1939), in a recent letterwritten from Mt. Dora, spoke very pleasantly of her experience as apastor's wife in Wareham. She spoke of the kindness of the people andthe spirit of unity that seemed to prevail among the members of thechurch at that time.
In her letter she alludes very feelingly to a class of boys, of whichshe was the teacher, she says "I have lived in many places and alwaysfound people and things hard to part with, but nothing so hard as togive up that class of boys; I cannot remember their names but can stillsee them crowding into the pews and listening attentively to what I hadto say about the lesson and other things. It is a long way from 1869,but I hope the church has prospered and the town grown in wealth andimportance."

DOVER, N.H. – Nadine "Nin" Adams Civiello, 82, died peacefully March 18, 2013, at Watson Fields, Dover, N.H. She was born Dec. 5, 1930, in East Millinocket, daughter of William M. Adams and Fannie E. (Powers) Adams.
Nadine and her late husband, Michael A. Civiello, were married June 4, 1960. They were married for 37 years and lived and raised their family in Millinocket. After his passing, Nadine resided in both in Bangor and Dover, N.H. Nadine graduated valedictorian and class president of the class of 1948 at Schenck High School, East Millinocket. Nadine loved to cook and anyone who visited her home was promptly offered food and Italian cookies. She enjoyed getting together with her sisters and other family members to play cards, share food, and tell stories. For most of her life, she was an avid reader and she loved doing crossword puzzles, which kept her mind sharp. She also loved to knit and crochet and many people throughout the years were treated to her socks, baby blankets and afghans. She even enjoyed getting on the computer to check the news, send an email, or play a game of Mahjong. For the last 11 years, she enjoyed spending time with and caring for her loyal shih tzu, Netty. Nadine was known for her quiet, but quick wit and she especially enjoyed interacting with both the staff and other residents at Watson Fields.
She was the youngest of seven children and was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, Malcolm S. Adams, Francis W. Adams, Wallace L. Adams and James R. Adams; and two sisters, June E. Raymond and Eleanor M. Coffin. Nadine is survived by her son, Patrick Civiello and wife, Jennifer, and their two daughters, Camilla and Abby, of North Yarmouth; and son, James Civiello and wife, Barbara, of Dover, N.H. Nadine is also survived by three children from her late husband's first marriage, whom she considered her own, Kenneth Civiello and wife, Virginia, of Sacramento, Calif., Kathleen Moscone and husband, Kenneth, of Port Matilda, Pa., and Michael Civiello and wife, Suellen, of Augusta. Nadine is survived by a total of 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Nadine is also survived by many nieces and nephews and she was especially close with two, Nancy Raymond of Bangor and Nola (Coffin) Foote of Rochester, N.H. The family sends a special thank you to the entire staff and residents at Watson Fields for making the last three years of Nadine's life comfortable and enjoyable. She loved the people who not only cared for her, but also took the time to get to know her.
Family and friends are invited to call 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, at Tasker Funeral Home, 621 Central Ave., Dover, N.H. A reception will be held after. A burial service will be held later this year at Millinocket Cemetery, Millinocket. I was browsing RootsWeb.com and saw your page concerningJoseph Octave Desmarais who married Ozilda Adams. I noticed that you didnot include his father and mother's name.
I did a quick search in my Family Tree Maker database and found an OctaveDesmarais born April 6, 1848 in St. Paul, Joliette county whose parentswere Louis Desmarais and Adeline Baudry. The birth information comes fromParish Records of St. Paul, comte de Joliette, Drouin Microfilm # 102,(Institut Genealogique Drouin), Feuillet 8, B. 28, baptized on the sameday. This is all the information I currently have concerning Octave.
The date of birth / name coincidence struck me as worth pursuing a littlefurther.
I did a quick search of the Drouin 'blue' books and did not find themarriage - hope to look at the Drouin 'Hard to find mariages'
tonite.
If you've come across the name of Octave's father and mother - I would beappreciative of any information you would be willing to spare. If thisline of Desmarais is attached to mine, I'll be glad to fill in the blanksconcerning previous generations.
I am doing a 10 generation study of the descendants of Paul Desmarais andMarie Therese Tetreau (1681) from the Montreal area
(up to marriages of 1950 only) - been working on it a few years.
Hope we can collaborate
thanks

General Notes: Husband - Edward Peve
According to Mark Kulow's file, Edward Peve's middle name was Thomas andhis parents were Thomas Peavey/Peve, b. c. 1645 and Martha Eaton, b. c.1645, both from England. He was taxed in 1691 and was living as a tenanton the Hall farm with Richard Blanchard in 1693. Another record indicatesThomas Peavey and Richard Blanchard on the Hall farm. Also Mark assertsthat Rachel's maiden name was Adams, but did not record where hediscovered that information.
He was taxed in 1691 and was living as a tenant on the Hall farm withRichard Blanchard in 1693. Another record indicates Thomas Peavey andRichard Blanchard on the Hall farm.

There are many different accounts regarding the appearance of the firstPeavey's in this country. The spelling of the name is only important insome aspects of tracking specific individuals and in tracing the line toour European roots. We have chosen to maintain a common spelling in orderto facilitate our record-keeping and research. By some accounts(Including the fine work by Leroy D. Peavey) Edward Peve was the first bythat name to settle in this country, specifically in the NH area. Hisfather may have been Thomas Peve and Martha (Eaton) Peve who resided inEngland and Edward may have come over with a brother John. We have givenEdward the middle name of Thomas based on the possible reference toThomas the father and a reference from the NH historical recordsregarding the rental of the Hall property by Edward Peavey. Anotherrecord for the same information states it was Thomas Peavey on the farm.Since we have no records of a Thomas in this time frame a combined nameof Edward Thomas Peavey might fit with both records. In addition, Thomasseems to be one of the most common names in the early Peavey lines.
There has been some discussion about Edward and another brother Williamof Portsmouth but the dates for this William seem to fit much better fora son of Edward rather than a brother. A possible brother John with awife Mary is not mentioned in any NH records. The only mention in thistime period is the son John Peavey who drowned in 1722. There is apossibility that he had a wife named Mary which would explain themarriage of John Peavey to Mary. We could add to the confusion if thiswidow Mary Peavey got remarried at some point to Samuel Holmes instead ofa daughter Mary. Nothing seems to indicate this so it is probably best toleave things as they are for now. We have not found anything definitiveto indicate that the are any Peavey descendants other than those who aredirectly descended from Edward. If Leroy is correct the first mention ofEdward was in the 1691 list of those who pledged to support the PuritanMinister Rev. John Cotton. He was not listed on the "Powder List" in 1690or an earlier "List" in 1688. With that in mind it is possible that oneor more of his sons were born in England or on the ship coming overrather than in Rockingham Co., NH. Again this minor detail is notextremely important to our research on the family. Leroy's notes on theorigination of name is very interesting and should be part of theeducation of all Peavey researchers.
Edward was originally in Portsmouth, moving from there to Dover (Durham),and then to "Bloody Point", a section of Dover. Edward was one of thepetitioners for the new town of Newington which was comprised of the"Bloody Point" section of Dover and a section of Portsmouth. Edward's sonAbel also signed the petition in 1713 indicating a birth prior to 1695 or1692, depending on the age requirements for signers of the document. Itis possible that the Edward who signed the document in 1713 was actuallyEdward but we have no evidence to prove this one way or the other.Nathaniel and Joseph also signed documents pertaining to the NewingtonParish in the same year. While this information does not pinpoint thebirth dates of these individuals, it does indicate a time-frame whichfits with the dates we have found based on research available in the LDSrecords. Additional information recorded by Leroy regarding rolls andother earlier records serve as further verification for the birth dateswe are using.
The family of Edward seems to have moved to different locations withinthe area based on further early records. Generally speaking Abel,Nathaniel, and Joseph are in Newington before moving elsewhere. Williamseems to have remained in the Portsmouth area. Peter ends up in Hampton,NH and then in Andover, Essex Co. MA as detailed by Leroy. Some ofPeter's children end up back in NH at a later point. Edward seems to havebeen in Newington but his line has not been identified as of yet. Johndies at an early age without issue as far as we know. Deborah, Jane andRachel seem to have stayed in the Dover area with their husbands andfamilies and we have not traced their lines beyond the first generationdue the necessary constraints we have placed on our research. Sarah andher husband Richard Carter went to ME as well as Mary and her husbandSamuel Holmes. It may be important to trace these lines in the event thatthey represent a connection to other Peavey's who later moved to ME.Other Peavey's also ended up throughout the New England area. We have notfound any connection to the Southern Peavey's which is not to say thatthere is no connection.
It would be helpful at this point to identify all of Edward's wife andhis children and to look at possible birth dates to avoid putting thesechildren in the wrong generation or with the wrong parents. The firstconsideration is the birth date for Edward Sr. who should likely be datedat least 21 years before he signed the pledge in 1691. This puts hisbirth before 1670. His son Abel Peavey was on "Col. Walton's Command" inthe French War Rolls in 1710. It is possible for young men to have foughtfrom the age of 16 years and up but 18 is more likely. This would put hisbirth before 1692. We have a fairly reliable birth date for Abel's sonHudson of Feb. 11, 1711 with a crossover to 1710. This means that Abelwas married to Mary Hudson by 1709. Again it is possible for him to havemarried as young as 18 years old but it is more likely that he was atleast 21 years of age. This would also fit better with his War service in1710. Our conclusion is that his birth date is c. 1688. This is supportedby various family trees and LDS records. If Abel was the eldest son andwe assume Edward was at least 21 when he was married the most commonlyused birth date of 1666 and a marriage date of 1687 would be as close aswe can come to the actual dates. It might also be good to point out herethat Rachel (Adams?) was most likely the mother of all of Edward'schildren. A Rachel Peavey marries Selathiel Denbow Dec. 19, 1720 inNewington. This has to be the widow of Edward or a daughter of his.Rachel, the daughter of Edward gets married to Thomas Rowe January 17,1720 in Newington. This younger Rachel has a daughter Mary Rowe in 1723.Since the widow Rachel would be at least 50 years old at this point itdoes not seem likely she married Thomas Rowe and the daughter marriedSelathiel. Some have put forward the possibility that Mary Clough/Cluffwas the mother of some of Ed's earlier children. It would seem unlikelythat Edward married a Mary Cluff and his son Abel also married a MaryCluff in c. 1717. There are no records that indicate the birth of a MaryClough/Cluff before 1670 which would be the latest birth date for her ifshe was the mother of Abel who was likely born in 1688 as previouslydemonstrated. The following is what we consider to be the most likelyfamily tree based on the available information.
Abel Peavey (1688) married Mary Hudson (1689) in 1709/10. She died before1713 since her father's will dated 1713 indicates she was no longeralive. She had three children in that four year time-frame so these datesseem to be match with the additional information available.
Children of Abel Peavey and Mary Hudson as confirmed by JohnHudson's will
Hudson Peavey Feb. 11, 1710/11
Thomas Peavey June 19, 1714
Abel Peavey June 30, 1716
We have a marriage record for the 2nd marriage for Abel to Mary Clough(Cluff?) in 1717 according to the Newington Town records. LDS has a dateof Dec. 19, 1720. To this marriage was born Ezekiel who was christenedJune 2, 1734. At this point Abel was a member in good standing with thechurch in Newington and Christenings seem to be taking place shortlyafter the birth of the child so the Christening date is likely very closeto the birth date. We have not found any further mention of Ezekiel atthis point other than a record from the Revolutionary War. An earlierbirth date would make him fairly old to be serving in the RevoluntionaryWar unless this is a reference to a different Ezekiel. The birth of achild 17 years after their marriage seems unlikely but we have no otherrecords to prove this one way or the other. A likely birth date for MaryClough is 1690-1700 which would make her 34-44 at the birth of Ezekiel. This would fit but doesn't answer the question about the late birth. Italso does not address why Abel's children by Mary Hudson were living withtheir grandparents and not with Abel and his new wife Mary. Somemysteries will not be resolved without a time machine. This seems to bethe complete family for Abel with the most likely dates possible at thispoint. See the notes for Abel to get an overview on his lines.

There are many sources for the Family of Edward Peve.
In ME/NH Genealogical Dictionary, pg 48 states:
Alter Edward Pevey to Pavey. It is unclear as to what Edward changed hisname or why. We do know that Samuel b. 1710 (son of Nathaniel, as listedbelow) m. Mary Cone did go by Pavey. Samuel's descendants use thisspelling to date. It is also important t o note that I haven't foundsource to positively prove that this Samuel Pavey was the son ofNathaniel (as listed below). I've found many other trees/gen ealogiesstating this connection. Cannot prove nor disprove so I've left on untilmore is known. There is some question whether this Samuel Pavey linefits here based on the surname spelling-more research is currently beingdone .

Abel Peavey (1688) married Mary Hudson (1689) in 1709/10. She died before 1713 since her father's will dated 1713 indicates she was no longer alive. She had three children in that four year time-frame so these dates seem to be match with the additional information available.
Children of Abel Peavey and Mary Hudson as confirmed by John Hudson's will
Hudson Peavey Feb. 11, 1710/11
Thomas Peavey June 19, 1714
Abel Peavey Jr. June 30, 1716
We have a marriage record for the 2nd marriage for Abel to Mary Clough (Cluff?) in 1717 according to the Newington Town records. LDS has a date of Dec. 19, 1720. To this marriage was born Ezekiel who was christened June 2, 1734. At this point Abel was a member in good standing with the church in Newington and Christenings seem to be taking place shortly after the birth of the child so the Christening date is likely very close to the birth date. We have not found any further mention of Ezekiel at this point other than a record from the Revolutionary War. An earlier birth date would make him fairly old to be serving in the Revoluntionary War unless this is a reference to a different Ezekiel. The birth of a child 17 years after their marriage seems unlikely but we have no other records to prove this one way or the other. A likely birth date for Mary Clough is 1690-1700 which would make her 34-44 at the birth of Ezekiel. This would fit but doesn't answer the question about the late birth. It also does not address why Abel's children by Mary Hudson were living with their grandparents and not with Abel and his new wife Mary. Some mysteries will not be resolved without a time machine. This seems to be the complete family for Abel with the most likely dates possible at this point. See the notes for Abel to get an overview on his lines.

The "Register" vol. 81 states that William Pevey was one of the original proprietors of Barrington when it split off from Portsmouth. This would coincide with the other information on William regarding his location in Portsmouth prior to living in Barrington. It also fits with the direct line of Williams in this area who were taxed and bought and sold property.

He sold 25 acres of land in Berwick to Hatevil Colson, December 21, 1750. Hatevil Colson was married to Elizabeth Downs, a sister of Mary Downs (Wife of John Grindle).
From the "Provincial Papers of New Hampshire" (Bouton): Joseph Peavey was granted 10 bills of credit of the province of New Hamsphire for the same amount as was burned in his chest with the other money at his lodgings in Berwick. These bills of credit were like bonds and therefore could be replaced without affecting the actual cash behind them. May 20, 1727, Joseph Peavey was one of the grantees named in the charter of the town of Bow by Gov. John Wentworth. This amounted to a fairly large tract of land and Joseph's name was mentioned many times in the transfer of property in Bow within the description of the property, his name being used as the person who originally owned a certain piece of land.

Barbara; Your inquiry was forwarded to me as library archivist. Iconsulted our copy of History of Hampton, N.H. 1638-1892 by Joseph Dow.Its only reference to Peavey/Peavy is on page 907:
"Peter Peavey and Esther his wife had children: Hannah, b. July 14, 1721.Mary, b. Mar. 22, 1723.
Rachel, bp. May 23, 1725. Esther, bp. June 2, 1728"
Our copy of Vital Records of Hampton, N.H. vol.2 confirms the above, withadditional detail that they were records of the First CongregationalChurch, and on page 23; "Peter Pevy, bp. 19 April, 1719."
I hope this is of help to you.
