EAST MILLINOCKET \endash Ulric Stanislas Turmel, 81, left this earth Dec. 4, 2009, to be reunited in eternity with our Lord Jesus Christ. Ulric passed away surrounded by the comfort and love of his family at his home. He was born Aug. 2, 1928, in Chisholm, the son of Antonio and Marie Turmel. Ulric married the love of his life, Nancy Louise Hoag, Aug. 14, 1948. They moved from Livermore Falls to East Millinocket in 1954, when Ulric began working as a papermaker at Great Northern Paper Co. During this time, the mill was undergoing a major expansion, which also included the installation of the No. 5 and No. 6 paper machines. When the No. 5 machine was ready to start, Ulric transferred from the grinder room to the paper room, where he worked his way to shift supervisor. In the early-1970s, when Great Northern's Millinocket mill built its new Vertiforma paper machine No. 11, Ulric went to Millinocket for several years as one of the foremen, and stayed in that position through the entire build and startup. Upon completion of the project, he returned to his position in the East Millinocket mill. In 1974 he became the day foreman of 5 and 6, a position he held until his retirement in 1986. He was well known in the industry as an extraordinary papermaker, but more importantly, he was loved and respected by all who worked with him. He had the gift to bring out the best in people, especially in dire situations. Many of those who were fortunate enough to work under his supervision went on to become exemplary papermakers and individuals. Ulric had a lifelong love for the north woods of Maine. He loved to fish for landlocked salmon, and every spring he enjoyed smelting on the West Branch of the Penobscot River. Many a season he would climb to the top of Mount Katahdin with his family and revel in its grandeur. Maine appealed to his independent spirit, and he could be found repairing his camp's dock in the summer or snowmobiling in the winter. Ulric's strong work ethic and loyalty to family were the foundation of his life. He took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, and loved nothing more than a good lobster feed at his camp on Ambajejus Lake surrounded by all. His strength, courage and devotion will be greatly missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his three children: daughter, Claudia Oliver and her husband, Wesley, of Chattanooga, Tenn., and her daughters, Chris and Allie; daughter, Mary Nattress and her husband, Clarke, of Benedicta and their children, Nehemiah, Naomi, Noah and Natalia; and son, Eric Turmel and Deborah Beaulieu of Millinocket, parents of Trever and Caleb. Ulric is also survived by five of his 10 brothers and sisters, Viola Aldrich, Joseph Turmel, Liette Elskamp, Bertrand Turmel and Armance Rich. Ulric was predeceased by his wife, Nancy Louise Hoag, Aug. 27, 2003; and his siblings, Real Turmel, Emery Turmel, Rhea Cornelio, Marie Poulin and Guy Turmel.

ANDREW RICHARDSON, Esq., youngestson of William and Mary (Hobart)
Richardson; born in Townsend, Mass., Aug. 25, 1760; m. in 1781, Hannah
Grant, of Marsh Bay, Frankfort, Me.
He and his three older brothers, Israel, Abel and Josiah, all left
their pleasant home inTownsend, on the Lexington alarm, April, 1775, and
joined the patriot army at Cambridge. Andrew was but fifteen years old.
All four were in the battle of Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775. As heretofore
noticed, Israel never returned. He was in the army of Washington on Long
Island, and died Aug. 29, 1776, either from wounds received in the battle
of the 27th, or from the effects of the severe rain-storm which
immediately followed.
After two years of service in the army, Andrew wend down into the
District of Maine, and joined his eldest brother William in the Hancock
Plantation. In that place, afterwards the town of Winslow, and the part
finally the town of Clinton, he became a leading citizen. He was the
first captain of militia in the town; was elected selectman year after
year; and represented the town in the General Court at Boston in the
years 1809 and 1810.
June 30, 1786. Andrew Richardson, of Hancock Plantation, yeoman,
bought of Silas Barron, of said Hancock, a certain lot of land on the
east side of Sebasticook River, and at the west end of the north line of
Lot. No. 4, above the town of Winslow. [Lincoln Deeds, xx.134.]
Clinton, however, is mostly on the west side of Sebasticook.
He died in Clinton, Me., Jan. 10, 1818, aged 58. Hannah, his wife,
died in Jan. 1811.

Peter Prudden was born in the small town of Hingham, England in 1604. In his boyhood, he walked several miles daily to and from a Grammer school. He then attended a free school in Lynn and from ther
e he entered Magdalen College at Cambridge University from which he received an A. B. degree in1626. Soon thereafter he got a job teaching at a Grammer school. He lived at the house of a clergyman of the established church, who, though not friendly to his Puritan ideas, sometimes engaged young Hobart to preach for him. In 1627, Peter was ordained a minister of the gospel by the Right Reverend Bishop of Norwich.
In 1627 he also married Rebecca Ibrook, the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Clark) Ibrook. For the next eight years he preached in several towns including Haverhill in Suffolk County. However, he became associated with the Puritans which aroused the hostility of the Prelacy, so he decided to join his father and brothers in New England. He embarked, with his wife and four children, in April 1635, and after a hard journey, arrived safely on June 8.
Peter joined the church in Charlestowm, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts on August 30, 1635 and his family remained there for a time. He was one of the first settlers at Hingham, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts and served as the pastor there from 1635 until his death in 1679. Peter's first wife died during child birth in December 1645. On February 3, 1646, he married Rebecca Peck, the daughter of Joseph and Rebecca (Clark) Peck. She died in 1692. Peter had a total of 18 children, 11 by his first wife and seven by his second.
