The Richardson Memorial by John Adams Vinton, 1876, Brown & Thurston Co.,
Portland, ME, pg 93-94:
MOSES RICHARDSON, twin brother of the preceding; born inWoburn, Feb.
8, 1747-8; married Miriam ______.
At the outbreak of the Revolution, he, with his brother Edward, joined
in the war for liberty, and received a commission as ensign--some say
lieutenant--in the same company. He lived for a time in West Cambridge,
afterwards in Acton, and at length in Concord. In his will he is said to
be of Concord.
My information respecting him isvague and unsatisfactory; but what I
shall next say is on the best authority.
He and his twin brother Edward, who, I suppose, fought by each other's
side during the Revolutionary war, were present at the laying of the
corner-stone of the Bunker Hill monument, June 17, 1825, just half a
century after the battle. Lafayette was present, and assisted in the
transaction. The event attracted great attention, and officers and
soldiers of the old Continental army, from all parts, were there. These
twin brothers, whose united weight was to exceed five hundred pounds,
rode to9gether in an open barouche, "the observed of all observers."
These "noble twin brothers of Revolutionary fame" received a conspicuous
notice in the account given of the affair in the newspapers immediately
after. Their close resemblance to each other has already beenmentioned.
His will, dated Dec. 9, 1833, was proved in 1835, and he must havedied
in the interval, at the age of about eighty-seven. He describes himself
as of concord, and speaks of his widow, Miriam and of children, Allen,
Aaron, Mary, and Moses; a statement which does not perfectly accord with
a record from another source.
The will of Miriam, widow of Moses Richardson, is still more
discrepant. It is dated April 9, 1839, and was proved in 1839. It
recognized herself as the widow of Moses Richardson of Concord, but gives
thefollowing as her children's names: Joanna Baker, Ellen Miriam,
Frances Wheeler, and Eben. I cannot reconcile this with the other, but
on the suppositionof her having had two husbands.

The Richardson Memorial by John Adams Vinton, 1876, Brown & Thurston Co.,
Portland, ME, pg 131:
FISHER RICHARDSON, eldest son of Moses Richardson, of WestCambridge,
and latterly of Concord; born 1770; m. Betsey Bird, of Watertown.
He lived in Watertown many years; at length removed to Brunswick, Me.
One Fourth of July morning, by loading and firing a cannon, he lost his
right arm. This, of course, disabled him and injured his general
health. When partlyrecovered, he returned to Massachusetts, and died in
Concord, where the latter part of his father's life had been passed. It
is said he died about 1807,aged 37.
His widow had a second husband, a Wythe, of Watertown. They removedto
Cincinnati, where she died.

STILLWATER \endash Emmett R. Stevens, 88, passed away March 21, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born Dec. 21, 1919, in Old Town, the son of Ray and Lulu (Mishou) Stevens. He attended school in Portland, Old Town and Lee, and graduated from Lee Academy in 1938. In 1939 he joined the CCC, Civilian Conservation Corps, Pierce Bridge, N.H. The Corps members helped to clean up the damage done by the hurricane of 1938. In 1941 he married Alvena Mary Wickett and worked on the construction of Dow Air Force Base, Bangor, and later became a civil service clerk-typist at Dow. Emmett was a World War II Navy veteran, 1942-46. He first served some of his enlisted time at the U.S. Naval Torpedo Station, Newport, R.I., and later served aboard the USS Titania (AKA13) in the South Pacific theater. Upon returning to civilian life, he attended and graduated from Husson College, Bangor and the University of Maine in Orono. He was a high school teacher and coach for 32 years, nine years at Lee Academy, 1949-1958 and for 23 years at Schenck High School, East Millinocket, 1958-1981. He was awarded the honor of Teacher of the Year and Coach of the Year for the state of Maine. During his years of teaching, he influenced his students and many of them continued to visit him during his time at the Maine Veterans' Home. It was rare to go anywhere with Emmett without running into an old friend. Emmett was an avid hunter and fisherman in his younger days, and enjoyed playing golf after his retirement. A good day was finding more balls than he lost. After the death of Alvena in 1980, he married Francine Gordon and they enjoyed several years of golfing and winters in Florida. Some of Emmett's fondest memories were of spending time with friends and family at camp at Pleasant Lake. He loved to tell jokes, good and bad, and was a relentless story teller. He will be deeply missed by his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Vicki Stevens of Starks; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Alan Millar of Sandpoint, Idaho; four grandchildren, Guy Stevens and his wife, Paula, Jill Jordan and her husband, Brian, Emma and Riley Millar; three great-grandchildren, Marley, Cameron and Reed. Other survivors are Zelma and Ed Legere of Dewey, Ariz., Dawn and Ron LaPlante of Anchorage, Alaska; a stepson, Reginald Gordon of Carrabasset Valley; four step- grandchildren, Dawn Libby, Melanie True, Ashely and Kimberley Gordon; and three great-stepgrandchildren, Riley, Sophia and Emma; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; his first wife, Alvena (Wickett) Stevens; his second wife, Francine (Gordon) Stevens; a sister, Phyllis Wiley; and two brothers, Frank and Ray Steven

With five ancestors in the Revolutionary War, Julia Mitchellwas a proud member of the DAR, a charter member of the Peace PartyChapter of the Colonial Dames, and a New England Congregationalist.Because she was the favorite niece of poet William Cullen Bryant, ...shegave the middle name Bryant to two of her children, as she gave twoothers the middle name Mitchell. By the time her seventh child was born(three babies were already dead of diphtheria), she named the girl afterherself and her husband's mother (Caroline Curtis): Julia Carolyn Weston, the future mother of Julia (Carolyn McWilliams) Child." With five ancestors in the Revolutionary War, Julia Mitchellwas a proud member of the DAR, a charter member of the Peace PartyChapter of the Colonial Dames, and a New England Congregationalist.Because she was the favorite niece of poet William Cullen Bryant, ...shegave the middle name Bryant to two of her children, as she gave twoothers the middle name Mitchell. By the time her seventh child was born(three babies were already dead of diphtheria), she named the girl afterherself and her husband's mother (Caroline Curtis): Julia Carolyn Weston, the future mother of Julia (Carolyn McWilliams) Child." At this time, all his daughters were married and had children. He mentions our adopted son, Stuart Mitchell, not yet 21 and studying to be a minister. He mentions my diece, Mary McConenghy (therefore on his side of the family). He leaves his large family Bible to his son, James H. Stuart. He bequeaths other items to: "my namesake, Stuart Eldridge" Grandsons: Henry McMain and John Dickson. Martha Douglass and Martha McMain. He leaves his estate divided between his 5 children.
It is possible that James Stuaret who was born in Ireland and was a Presbyterian, was a Scotch-Irish Presbyterian. The Mitchell name in Pennsylvania is also considered the same. In the time of Charles II and James II or England, there were terrible persecutions for conscience sake. Presbyterians from Scotland and Ireland fled to America for the sake of enjoying religious worship as they understood the teaching of the Word of God. The first ones located in New England. There was such a rush of Scotch-Irish Presbyterianss to Pennsylvania that the newer immigrants ultimately were refused permission to purchase land lest they predinubate (adioted from several books on the Mitchell family in Pennsylvania).
