History of New Hampshire
Various Algonquian tribes inhabited the area prior to European settlement. Europeans explored New Hampshire in 1600-1605 and settled in 1623. By 1631, the Upper Plantation comprised modern-day Dover, Durham and Stratham; in 1679, it became the "Royal Province."
No Caucasian was born in New Hampshire prior to 1623.

The best way for me to describe the relationship, is for
example if you have 6,000 people in your data base
that are connected via interlocking marriges, and
you find that you have a marriage that is interlocked into
one of my people in my data base, then they are related
via interlocking marriages, does not matter how distant.
The difference here is that the interlocking into my data
base would link to over 724,091 people via interlocking
marriages.
My hobby is working on interlocking marriages,to any
family surname that is in my data, and I exchange with
people to find them, and to assist them in finding lineage
that link into their families.

Phipsburg: constitutes the southern point of Sagadahoc County. It lies between the Kennebec River on the east and the New Meadows Harbor and West Bath, on the west; is very nearly 12 1/2 miles in extreme length and an average width of about 3 miles. Phipsburg contains the site of the earliest English colony in New England. The peninsula on the eastern side of the southern part, that bears on its north-eastern point the lofty granite walls of Fort Popham, still bears the marks of its occupancy by Popham's colony in 1607. At Small Point Harbor, on the south-west side of the town, is the site of a fishing settlement established by the Pejepscot proprietors in 1716, with the name of AUGUSTA. Dr. Oliver Noyes, one of the proprietors, was the principal director and patron. Captain John Penhallow, author of a noted history of the Indian Wars, in 1717, resided here. Dr. Noyes, in 1716, erected here a stone fort 100 feet square, for the purpose of protecting the settlers who were coming rapidly. A sloop named 'Pejepscot' was employed as a packet between this Augusta and Boston, carrying out lumber and fish, and bringing back merchandise and settlers. The settlement continued untill Lovewell's War, when the houses were burnt and the fort destroyed by the Indians. In 1737 an attempt at re-settlement was made. Among those who came at this time were three families of Halls, Clark, Wallace, Wyman, James Doughty, DAVID GUSTIN, Jeremiah Springer, Nicholas Rideout and John Owens. Phipsburg was included in the Pejepscot grant to Purchase and Way, and after Whaton;s Purchase their lands were confirmed anew to some of the purchasers. The south part of the town was bought of the Indians by Thomas Atkins, the remainder by John Parker, Jr., in 1659, and the northern part was assigned to his brother-in-law, Thomas Webber, who also obtained an Indian title. Silvanus Davis, widely known in his day, owned and improved a farm south of Webber's. In 1734 Col. Arthur Noble built a strong garrison on the north side of the peninsula near Fiddler's Reach. The first house of worship known in this settlement was erected near this garrison in 1736. Some thirty-five years later an Episcopal church was erected on the site of this first house. The present Congregational church at the Center was built about 1802. The extention of the North Yarmouth Line direct to the ocean brought the southern part of Phipsburg into that town; but the whole, for convenience to the inhabitants, was in 1741, annexed to Georgetown. In 1814 Phipsburg was separated from the town and incorporated under its present name, which was adopted in honor of Sir William Phips. Eminent names among the citizens of this town in days that are past are Hon. Mark Langdon Hill, Andrew Reed, Parker McCobb, James Bowker, William M. and Thomas M. Reed. The town of Phipsburg was incorporated in 1814.

We are including Abigail Gustin in our file as the first wife of John Brown of Buckfield based on a marriage record on file at the Maine State Archives:

Comment INTENTION FILED 4/20/1746.
A search on Abigail Gustin daughter of David and Jane Gustin at Family Search and at World Connect yielded no marriage information even though a number of files were found that listed Abigail as daugher of this family.
According to the "History of Buckfield" by Cole and Whitman (1915), John was a widower by the year 1777 when he moved from New Gloucester to Buckfield. The book also names two of his daughters who were by that time married; ABIGAIL who was married to Thomas Allen and Mary who married Nathaniel Buck.
The above marriage date is consistent with John having two married daughers by 1777 and with his approximate date of birth of 1720 as given in the "History of Buckfield".
More research is needed to prove the above however the circumstances of time, place and names lead us to believe this assumption is correct. [GDB 3 SEP 2003]

According to Elise Greenup Jourdan in Early Families of Southern Maryland, Vol. 5, pg 201, "Richard Moor immigrated ca 1652-3 and transported his wife Jane; daus. Ann and Jane, sons Richard, Jr, Roger and Timothy. Temperance Moor immigrated 1663 "daughter of Richard." No mention of a Ruth Moore is in the immigration records." One could conjecture she was born here in Maryland, therefore, no immigration records.

Ann Moor, dau. of Richard, transported

According to the Archives of Maryland, 10.367; Richard evidently was an attorney for ca 1653-4 he was "appointed attorney for George Ketchmey of Virginia."
Richard's Will and codicil are taken from "Early Families of Southern Maryland", Vol. 5 by Elise Greenup Jourdan: "Jul 1654; Know all men by these presents that Whereas my Husband, Richard Moore, being Sick and weak upon his death bed did call to his wife, Jane Moore, and desired her to bring him the will he had formerly made and he pused [perused] it after that he Cancelled it and caused it to be burnt and made his wife whole and Sole Executor to set and dispose of amongst her children, as She will, Richard Manship and Eliz. Manship, his wife, being present at the Same Time." (Note see the will of Richards wife, Jane).

General Notes: Child - George Bulmer
He was the son of John BULMER and ______.
from HISTORY OF CHARLES DIXON, One of the Early English Settlers of Sackville, N(ew) B(runswick) (1891), Compiled by James D. Dixon -- A Grandson, p. 91:
"Mr. (George) Bulmer....came when a lad of 12 years of age from England in the same ship with Mr. Dixon and his family, and a few years subsequently, his mother and several of her sons came out and settled near Amherst, where some of their descendants still remain. The Bulmer family is said to be of Norman descent. Mr. George Bulmer purchased a large lot of land adjoining the farm of his father-in-law, which he industriously improved and cultivated for many years, until he became somewhat deranged and this affliction having assumed a somewhat alarming aspect it was deemed necessary in the interests of his family to invoke the action of the Court of Chancery; and a decree was obtained by which the property was placed in the hands of Commissioners, who should control the same for the maintenance of Mr. and Mrs. Bulmer and in the interest of the family. Mr. and Mrs. Bulmer both survived for many years after the above action was taken. Mrs. Bulmer died in 1835 aged 67 years, and Mr. Bulmer in 1841, aged 82 years."

In his younger years, Phil was a star catcher for several local baseball teams and remained a lifelong Red Sox fan. A celebration of Phil's life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, at the Congregational Church in Dover-Foxcroft, to be followed by a reception for family and friends in the chapel. Please bring stories and fond memories to share. Those who wish may make donations in Phil's memory to the Jon B. David Ackerman:
The Ackerman Family, compiled by Barbara Tobey.
David and Elisbeth with six children were living in Berlicum, North Brabant, a
few miles south of Oss and Geffen, when they decided to emigrate to America.
They left the port of Amsterdam September 2nd. 1662 on the ship VOS. Probably
some time was spent in an English port and then about mid-Sept. the VOS again
proceeded to the New Netherlands. After a stormy voyage they arrived in New
Amsterdam on November 14, 1662. The Dutch West Indies Company ledger for this
trip is still preserved in the New York state archives in the State Library at
Albany, NY.
Unfortunately it was not to be for David to enjoy the wonders of the new land.
He died perhaps on the rough voyage over, probably in 1662, before Jan 6th 1663
when his wife Lizabeth and their oldest child, daughter Anneken, then nearly
21, joined the church in New Amsterdam. Elizabeth was resourceful hard working
woman and was helped by kind friends and neighbors. She managed to raise a good
healthy family. Before June 1663 they were living in a small house owned by
Jonas Barteltzen, next door to him on the Marketfield, later this was Whitehall
Street NY City, across from where the weekly market was held under the walls of
the Fort. In those days there were no stores and offices, so most business was
carried on in the home so it was natural for widow Lisbet to serve beer and
some food (the brewery was just around the corner) and a few beaver pelts, to
make money. She occasionally had to "sell some household goods to procure food
for her children" as she told the Orphanmaster's Court, when she was called
before them on April 26, 1663. Five years after David died, on Jan 29 1668, now
at age 52, she was married to Kier Wolthers. She and her boys moved to Harlem,
just North of NY City, to his farm. Abraham her youngest child was now nearly
twelve and could help with the work. She died a couple of months later.

According to Marion G. Snedecor, Membership Genealogist, David Ackerman
Descendrnts - 1662: In the past someone incorrectly entered David's wife's
name as DeVillier. The real name is Bellier. The DAD - 1662 hired a prominent
genealogist in the netherlands and the baptismal record shows tne name is
Bellier.

Little Willie Curtis, of Payson, Meets With a Severe Accident
Sept. 23, 1889 Payson -- "Thursday afternoon, Willie, a nine-year old son of Horace Curtis, fell from the barn and dislocated both wrists. Dr. Tilson was called in, and after administrating ether, both hands were successfully replaced. The little fellow suffered considerable until yesterday, when the pain began decreasing and great hope is entertained that he will now soon recover and be enabled to throw away both of the slings that ornament his neck."
