Notes for HENRY RICHMOND WEBB:

Ashton Keynes, 29 March, 1736.

Dear Cousin:

It is agreed by all that our ancestors first settled at Rodborne, Wilt; that two branches lived at Chedderton in Lyddia rd Treygoze Parish, Wilts and Brinkworth, Wilts. The farthest of our family I can trace is our grandfather who lived a t Christian-Malford, Wilts, about 3 miles from Chippenham in the county. The house is now standing. Henry, our grandfat her, had 4 wives and as I have been informed, 25 children, 12 of whom grew up to be men and women.

Children by first wife: John and Henry ( The Amisbury Branch*) now decending from John who killed his brother after (du ring?) the civil wars and cost our grandfather so much money to save his life that his estate was sold or irrecoverabl y mortgaged. Children by second wife: Peter, father to George and William. Children by third wife: Silvester, Oliffe m y father , James died at Campden in Gloucester County and left children, Francis died unmarried. Children by fourth wif e: Jane, Edward, Mary died unmarried, Elizabeth married, but died without offspring, Thomasine married Ashton Keynes an d left children.

John and Henry our grandfather"s sons were officers of distinction in the civil wars, one in the king's army and the ot her in Cromwell's and our grandfather's home was often plundered by both armies, the king's party saying he had a son i n Cromwell's party, and Cromwell's party that he had a son in the king's.

Your affectionate though unknown kinsman
Oliffe Richmond

John Richmond of Amesbury, Wiltshire, who married a Mary Beckington in 1668, and had 3 sons and 3 daugthers, whose birt hs, etc., are recorded in Amesbury, must have been, according to the letter of Oliffe Richmond quoted above, a son or g randson of John Richmond of Taunton. It is barely possible that is is so, as John Richmond was about 41 yrs. old when h e left England, which leaves ample time for a previous marriage in England, and would permit the Amesbury branch to cla im the same ancestor.

Dr. Sylvester Richmond, the brother of John Richmond, obtained great celebrity as a physician throughout the counties o f Lancaster and Chester, and gained a large property. He was elected Mayor of Liverpool, and was actively engaged in su pporting the royal cause during the agitations of that period. He Married Sarah Tarleton, and had 5 sons and 2 daugther s.

Rev. Legh Richmond, author of "The Dairyman's Daugther," was one of his descendants. He died in 1692. (Source: "The Ric hmond Family 1594-1896 and Pre-American Ancestors 1040-1594" by Jouhua Bailey Richmond)

Child of HENRY WEBB and ELIZABETH CHRISTIAN is:

i. JOHN17 RICHMOND, b. 1594, Ashton Keynes, Wiltshire, England; d. March 20, 1663/64, Taunton, Mass; m. ELIZABETH NICHO LS.

Notes for JOHN RICHMOND:
John Richmond, the emigrant, came to America from Ashton Keynes, Whilshire England. He probably left England about 163 5 and came over on a trading-vessel. He owned six shares in the original purchase of Taunton, Mass in 1637. He was know n to have spend some time in Newport, RI and built a mansion on Mill Brook.

Nothing seems to be known of him from 1643 to 1655, and tradition leads us to believe that he returned to England and e ngaged in the civil wars. The family was large land-owners in the easterly part of Tauton, and gave to a village in tha t section the name of Richmondtown.

General Notes: Wife - Martha Jean Wyman

DEER ISLE and BANGOR Martha Jean (Wyman) Weatherbee passed away March 29, 2008. Jean, also known as Mar-ty to her college friends, was born July 14, 1932, in Portland, to Edna and Clifton Wyman. When she was just a few years old, they moved to Bangor. Some of her fondest memories are of summers she spent at Sandy Point, with all her cousins and friends, as well as at Camp Natarswi, near Baxter State Park. She spent time there as a camper, Junior Maine Guide, counselor and swim instructor. She met her sweetheart and future husband, Bob, her junior year of high school, where she was a cheer-leader and he a pole-vaulter. They both attended the University of Maine, Orono, where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority and earned a degree in home economics education. She was married June 19, 1954, and graduated the next day from the University of Maine, Orono. She worked for a brief time at Eastern Maine Medical Center as a dietician until she had her first of four children. She started a cooperative nursery school with a group of other mothers at Hammond Street Congregational Church. She owned Fash-ion Fabrics, Columbia Street, Bangor, with her sister, Anne. Jean was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for 30 years, director of Reach to Recovery and income develop-ment director for Reach to Recovery Program. She and Bob moved to Deer Isle, where she attended Saunders Memorial Congregational Church and was active in their Ladies Aid group. Jean was the founder and "Queen Mum" of the Red Hat Society group known as "Red Lobster Ladies of Deer Isle." She loved to travel with Bob and her friends, and organized many trips for their group. She was predeceased by her mother and father; and her sister, Anne (Wyman) D'Amico. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert. Her children are Kevin and Barbara (Boulier) Weatherbee of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Mark and Susan (Weatherbee) Adams of Sugarloaf, Judith Weatherbee of Bangor and Geno and Andrea (Weatherbee) Federico of Readfield; and grandchildren, Ian, Jessica and Tyler Weatherbee, Riley Adams and Angelo Federico. Special thanks to her friend, Madeline Clement for all of her help during these difficult times. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Ralph Green officiating. In lieu of flowers, she has requested that if they would like to, people may make contributions to the American Cancer Society of Maine, One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.

General Notes: Husband - Jesse Coe Weatherly

I appreciate your information posted in the World Connect Datafile on the Weatherly Family. Jesse Coe (b. 1841) was married to my grandfather's oldest sister (Emily Frances Williams). We recently received Jesse's pension file from NARA for his Civil War Service with Indiana Union Army, Pvt, Company A, 11th Regiment, INDIANA Infantry, enlisted Mar 10, 1865, discharged 26 July 1865. He left moved to Missouri after the War where he married, then moved to Fanin Texas until the early 1880's. At that time the family moved by train to the area around Joseph Oregon where he lived until about 1917-18 when he moved back to Guilford Co, NC where he died. The following is information which we have compiled on that branch of the family. Thanks again for your work.

DESERET NEWS, Saturday, July 1, 1995:

DEATH: WILBUR GEORGE WEBB
Wilbur George Webb, 83, returned to our Heavenly Father on June 29, 1995. After a bout with cancer our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away at 12:55 p.m. in Salt Lake City. He was born January 24, 1912 in Hinckley, Utah to George Alfred Webb and Zina Isadora Morris. He was married to Marilyn Wightman, August 4, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. They spent 34 years of happiness and love together. He married Laurel Harper in the Logan LDS Temple, July 8, 1939. She passed away January 8, 1961.Dad will be remembered as a man of service and a man of love. He was a very active member of the LDS Church, serving two missions. Most recently he proudly served as a member of the High Council of the East Millcreek North Stake. He was especially fond of missionary work, preaching the gospel to the very end. He loved his family a great deal and was actively involved in all of their lives. He loved the outdoors and could often be found working in his garden. In his younger years he spent a great deal of time in the mountains, he especially loved the High Uintahs. He was the ultimate Boy Scout spending many years as a scoutmaster in the Garden Park Ward, and the East Millcreek 1st Ward. He was an Eagle Scout and wore that uniform proudly. He always found time to go to activities of his children, or grandchildren, he loved them all a great deal. He attended the University of Utah, the University of Oregon, and New York University, where he earned a Masters Degree in Business Administration. Dad spent much of his life working for Beehive Clothing Mills. Most recently he was owner and tour director of Fun Time Tours, a family operated business he built from the ground up, a business Dad loved. He is survived by his stalwart loving wife, Marilyn Wightman; daughter, Vicki (Dennis) Grob; sons, Steven Hawke, Richard W. (Christine) Webb, Randy D. (Peggy) Hawke, W. Michael (Angela) Webb, David W. (Melodie) Webb; a sister Mrs Margaret (Homer) Wade; two brothers, Vergil M. (Marian) Webb, and Morris (Blanche) Webb.
