Phillis Lyman Hills migrated from England to New England with her family in 1631. The date of birth shown is the date of her baptism at High Onger, Essex, Kent, England. She is listed as one of the founding members of the First Church in Roxbury in the book "History of the First Church in Roxbury, MA, 1630-1904," Walter Eliot Thwing, and also as having married William Hills.
Phillis became deaf as a result of illness prior to her death; her exact date of death is unknown, although she died prior to late 1648 when William married a second time. Rev. Eliot wrote the following about Phillis: "Phillis Lyman the daughter of Richard Lyman, she came to the Land with her father ano 1631. God wrought upon her heart in this Land, she grew deaf; with disease increasing was a great affliction to her, she was married to Willia Hills & lived with him at Hartford on Conecticot."

WILLIAM RICHMOND, son of WILLIAM RICHMOND and JOAN EWEN: The 1565 Visitation of Wiltshire reports that William as bein g of Stewkley, Grange, Bucks County and Over-Wroughton, Wiltshire. Aubrey's Wills notes "There was a grant of church la nd (in Wr
oughton) by the Crown to William Richmond alias Webb in the 32nd year of the reign of HenryVIII (1541)." Land in Bishop town or Bushton awarded to William Webb inthe 22nd year of the reign of Queen Elizabeth. Aubrey's Wills also notes th e Baskett family sold land at Lydiard-Milicent to William Richmond alias Webb in 1576. (This late date suggests he ma y have has a son William, who bought it). This land remained in the family 138 years, being sold to Sir John Askew in 1 714. A William Webb also bought land in Wiltshire in 1545. William Richmond alias Webb of Stewkley Grange, Bucks County, and
Over-Wrough ton, Wilts, had L22 per annum, in land in the County of Wilts,
1565. In Aubre y's Wills, p. 368, it is stated the "There was a grant of
Church land (in Wro ughton) by the Crown to William Richmond alias Webb,
in the 32 yr of the reig n of Henry VIII (1541)," The Webb family had
lands in Rudlow, Sherston and Ma gna; and in the 22 yr of the reign of
Elizabeth, a grant of land in Bishoptow n or Bushton was made to William
Webb. Aubrey's Wills, page 153, says: "The B askett family disappeared
about 1576, when they sold their estate at Lydiard- Milicent to William
Richmond alias Webb. After 138 yrs, the Webbs sold itin 1 714 to Sir
John Askew." Regarding Stewkley Grange, Jone's "Index" contains th e
following note; "Demanibus Reginae amovendis de Manerio de Stewkeley
Gran ge, et aliis, in Comitatibus Bucks et Wilts ac William Webb. Arm,
Liberandis. Michaelis Recorda, 8 Eliz. Rotulo 110 (1566)."* He bought
lands in Chiseldon and Over-Wroughton, Wilts, in the 36 yr of the reign
of Henry VIII (1545), o f Sir Edward Baynton.

Dear Cousin:
It is agreed by all that our ancestors first settled at Rodborne, Wilt; that two branches lived at Chedderton in Lyddia rd Treygoze Parish, Wilts and Brinkworth, Wilts. The farthest of our family I can trace is our grandfather who lived a t Christian-Malford, Wilts, about 3 miles from Chippenham in the county. The house is now standing. Henry, our grandfat her, had 4 wives and as I have been informed, 25 children, 12 of whom grew up to be men and women.
Children by first wife: John and Henry ( The Amisbury Branch*) now decending from John who killed his brother after (du ring?) the civil wars and cost our grandfather so much money to save his life that his estate was sold or irrecoverabl y mortgaged. Children by second wife: Peter, father to George and William. Children by third wife: Silvester, Oliffe m y father , James died at Campden in Gloucester County and left children, Francis died unmarried. Children by fourth wif e: Jane, Edward, Mary died unmarried, Elizabeth married, but died without offspring, Thomasine married Ashton Keynes an d left children.
John and Henry our grandfather"s sons were officers of distinction in the civil wars, one in the king's army and the ot her in Cromwell's and our grandfather's home was often plundered by both armies, the king's party saying he had a son i n Cromwell's party, and Cromwell's party that he had a son in the king's.

Oliffe Richmond
John Richmond of Amesbury, Wiltshire, who married a Mary Beckington in 1668, and had 3 sons and 3 daugthers, whose birt hs, etc., are recorded in Amesbury, must have been, according to the letter of Oliffe Richmond quoted above, a son or g randson of John Richmond of Taunton. It is barely possible that is is so, as John Richmond was about 41 yrs. old when h e left England, which leaves ample time for a previous marriage in England, and would permit the Amesbury branch to cla im the same ancestor.
Dr. Sylvester Richmond, the brother of John Richmond, obtained great celebrity as a physician throughout the counties o f Lancaster and Chester, and gained a large property. He was elected Mayor of Liverpool, and was actively engaged in su pporting the royal cause during the agitations of that period. He Married Sarah Tarleton, and had 5 sons and 2 daugther s.

Notes for JOHN RICHMOND:
John Richmond, the emigrant, came to America from Ashton Keynes, Whilshire England. He probably left England about 163 5 and came over on a trading-vessel. He owned six shares in the original purchase of Taunton, Mass in 1637. He was know n to have spend some time in Newport, RI and built a mansion on Mill Brook.
Nothing seems to be known of him from 1643 to 1655, and tradition leads us to believe that he returned to England and e ngaged in the civil wars. The family was large land-owners in the easterly part of Tauton, and gave to a village in tha t section the name of Richmondtown.

Millinocket - Alice V. "Ginny" Michaud, 88, wife of the late Lee Michaud, Sr., passed away peacefully Friday, June 06, 2008 at Millinocket Regional Hospital. She was born May 2, 1920 in Milo, the daughter of Stephen and Helen (Lunt) Lynch. Ginny enjoyed playing Bingo, doing grid work, bowling, crocheting, and going camping. She especially enjoyed visiting the Bar Harbor area, and listening to country western music. She was the source of much happiness to many people who enjoyed her keen wit and pleasant comments. Ginny brightened the days of her caregivers and family, and was affectionately known at Katahdin Nursing Home as "Sunshine". Ginny is survived by three children, June Pelletier of Millinocket, Lee Michaud, Jr. and his wife Angel of Gorham, and Sherry Davis and her husband Bryant of Millinocket; a brother, Donald Lynch and his wife Joyce of East Millinocket; a special sister in law, Beverly Lynch; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Ginny was predeceased by three sons, Paul, Richard, and Stephen, and siblings Roland Lynch, Grace Levasseur, Paul Lynch, and Pat Grenier.

Peter 1 Lyon was born in England, and died 1693-4 in Dorchester, Mass.. It is belived he came from London of Essex or Middlesex stock. (1) Petermarried Ann Tolman 26 Nov 1649 in Dorchester, Norfolk, MA.. He was made freeman in Dorchester on 02 May 1649,(2) and his first recorded child was born in 1650, putting his birth probably between 1620 - 1630. (3) Peter was a weaver by trade. He received a £1 bounty in 1657 for killing a wolf. (4) He signed a petition to the General Court in 1664 as an inhabitant of Dorchester (5) and appears on a list of First Settlers of New England as Lyon, Peter, Dorchester 1664. (6) In 1665 he was granted a strip of ground for a highway. He was summoned by the Selectmen regarding complaints about his sons. He reported that they follow their employment, and that he would look diligently after them. He served on juries in 1675, 1677 and 1685 and in 1681-2 held what would now be considered the very undesirable office of tithing man.. In 1693 he sold a house and loton Green St. to the Davenports shortly before his death. (7)

MEDWAY - Erma N. Lyons, 103, died Monday, July 17, 2000. She was born in Medway on Nov. 14, 1896, the daughter of Sheridan and Millie (Hamlin) Powers. Erma was a lifelong resident of Medway for the last 10 years, and enjoyed the honor of being Medway's oldest citizen. She loved gardening and looked forward every spring for her favorite dandelion greens. Erma also had a passion for farming including farm animals, crops and making butter. Upon the death of her daughter-in-law, Florence, she opened her home to her son and his family and for the most part, raised his family. She is survived by one son, Ora and his wife, Elaine Lyons of East Millinocket; one daughter, Pauline Beathem of Medway; grandchildren, Donnie and Nancy Lyons of East Millinocket, Fay "Pete" and Bonnie Lyons of East Millinocket, Paul Lyons of South Portland, Mack and Gail Lyons of Millinocket, Prince Lyons of Medway (whom she made her home with), Jean and Harold Moore of Medway, Linda and Greg Dunmore of Medway, Jeri Beathem of East Millinocket, Carroll and Priscilla Lyons of Medway, Rebecca and David Markie of Connecticut, Ancel and Patricia Lyons of New York, Sharon and Robert Hutchins of Medway, Virgil and Sylvia Lyons of Woodville, Sylvia and Harry Hasey of New Hampshire, Everett and Kimberly Lyons of Woodville, Donna and David Soper of East Holden, Gary and Darlene Lyons of New York; 43 great-grandchildren, 45 great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren. MEDWAY -- Pauline J. Beathem, 84, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully March 6, 2006, at a Bangor nursing facility under the loving care of the staff. She was born June 24, 1921, in East Millinocket, the daughter of Erma and Everett Lyons.
Pauline married Harold C. Beathem September 26, 1941 and they were happily married and constant companions for 55 years, until his death in 1997. She was also predeceased by her parents; and brothers: Ray and Fay Lyons.
She is survived by a brother, Ora Lyons and wife, Elaine, of East Millinocket; three daughters: Jean Moore and husband, Harold, of Medway, Linda Dunmore of Medway and Jeri Beathem of East Millinocket; a special nephew, Prince Lyons and wife, Sue, of Medway; three grandchildren: Patrick Moore of Burlington, Hope Boyd and husband, Glenn, of Medway and Paula Rouleau and husband, Tony, of Bangor; five great-grandchildren: Sonya, Kevin, Kate, Emily and Bryan; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to gather in celebration of Pauline's life, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Hope and Glenn Boyd's house, 99 Dickey Moore Rd., Medway. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the First Congregational Church in East Millinocket, with Pastor Andrew Macleod, officiating.

East Millinocket \endash Ora S. Lyons, 81, passed peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from a Millinocket hospital. He was born February 16, 1930 in East Millinocket, the son of Everette and Erma (Powers) Lyons.
Ora grew up in the area, and worked for Great Northern Paper Company in East Millinocket for 39 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed hunting, but was truly passionate about fishing, a pastime he enjoyed immensely. Ora will be remembered as a loving family man by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elaine (McLaughlin) Lyons of East Millinocket; two children, Donna Jean Soper and her husband David of Dedham, and Garold Lyons and his fiancé Patricia Madson of North Tonawanda, New York; five grandchildren, Aaron Lyons and his fiance Erin Salmen; Jason Lyons, Cody Lyons, Mia Ippoliti-Lenfest and her husband Ryan, and Joshua A. MILLINOCKET \endash Franklin Ralph Manzo Sr., 74, walked into heaven with his Lord and added his voice to the heavenly choir Oct. 17, 2008. He died peacefully in the home where he was brought up and loved. There never was a kinder, sweeter man. He was always ready to give a hand to any in need. Franklin worked at Great Northern Paper Co., for 43 years, retiring July 1994, and spent much of his retirement years puttering around the home he loved. He was predeceased by his father, Guiseppe "Joseph"; his mother, Emma; two sisters, Antoinette and Stella; as well as brother-in-law, Kenneth Goode; and sister-in-law, Patricia Manzo. Franklin proudly served his country in the Armed Forces. He spent two years in Bad Kissingen, Germany, during America's Cold War, serving with the 7th Artillery Division of the U.S. Army. He and his wife, Gale, held a Thursday night prayer meeting in their home for 36 years. Franklin was a quiet man, who died as he lived, quietly. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 47 years, Gale; his daughter, Lynn McIntyre and her husband, Rodney; and his son, Franklin Manzo Jr. His grandchildren, Mandy and Sean Waltz, Nicole Jenson, Brittany Valeriani, Jennifer Manzo and Gabriel Manzo, will also miss his loving ways. Franklin will also be missed by his great-grandchildren, Connor, Brodie and Brooklyn Jenson, Noah, Cam'ren and Faith Valeriani, and Elise Doughty; his brother, Earnest and wife, Jeanette; brother, Richard and wife, Loretta; sister, Rita Goode; and sister, Sister Mary Manzo, RSR; and his brother-in-law, Harold Lyons Jr. and wife, Paulette. Franklin has many nieces and nephews, who will miss his tenderness. Franklin loved much and was much loved. He loved his family, his God, his church, his country and his brother Knights of Columbus. He was proud to have been anointed a fourth degree member of the order this year. Franklin was a gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. His good-natured teasing and jolly, belly-shaking laughter will be missed by all who knew him, especially those who gather each morning to share coffee and stories with him and his brother, Richard, at "the shop." These few paragraphs are but a feeble attempt to summarize the life of a man who was loved and appreciated by so many.

</b>
MILLINOCKET - Gail M. (Wilson) Chaplin, 72, died March 15, 2011, at a <u>Bangor</u> health care facility. She was born May 14, 1938, in Millinocket, the daughter of Robert and Lois (Tilley) Wilson.
She graduated from Stearns High School in 1956. Gail was a very giving and thoughtful woman, as well as a loving mother and a caring grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Leo "Puggy" M. Chaplin; a brother, Jack B. Wilson; and an infant daughter, Jolayne Mary Lyons. Gail is survived by her brother, Paul C. Wilson of Monaca, Pa.; her four children, Jennifer Lyons of Cape Girardeau, Mo., James Lyons Jr. and Julie Cote of Bangor, Robert Lyons and his wife, Tara, of Meridian, Idaho, and William Lyons of Bangor; three grandsons, Kristopher and Trevor Lyons of Bangor and Broc Lenz of Meridian, Idaho; and a special granddaughter, Brooke Jordan Lyons of Oswego, N.Y. Gail also leaves behind a special friend and care giver, Bill Boyington of Millinocket; and a dear friend, Steve Martin. In addition, she will be missed by all of her AA friends. She touched the lives of many others. The family thanks the staff at Stillwater Healthcare, as well as St. Joseph Home Health and Hospice.
At Gail's request, there will not be a funeral service. There will be a burial service to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gail's name to Bangor Humane Society, 693B Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
