Sometime around 1920, the marriage went souor and George was rumored to be having an affair (true or not). With increasing pressure from Emma's sister and family, Emma and George became estranged, and there was the story that George had tried to come by the house to patch things up and the Amelia wouldn't let him speak with Emma, so he never stepped on their doorstep again. George left The dayton area and worked a qauite a few types of jobs and ended up in Canada. In the meantime, Emma filed papers for divorce and listed "abandonment" as the cause. Emma never saw George again, nor did his son, Raymond.
It has been told, George remarried a woman in Canada, a nurse, and the had children, twins, boy and girl named Robert 'Bob' and Elizabeth 'Betty'.

An eighteenth century National Register House owned by the Farringtons still stands near the lake. Clarence Poe, ofChatham County, long-time editor of the "Progressive Farmer",writes of his Farrington relatives in his biography. The nameis sometimes spelled Fearrington or Tharrington and, curiously, some of the family spelled it Thornton or some variation thereof. The Farringtons are connected with such prominent Quaker families as Starbuck and Hinshaw and other well-knownNorth Carolina families such as Cotten, Love and Haynes. LUTHER H. FARRINGTON
Singe 1884 Luther H. Farrington has been connected with the Winston, Harper, Fisher Company, wholesale grocers, in which well known concern he holds the office of treasurer. He was born in Chicago and received his education in the public schools of that city, subsequently going to Germany, where he engaged in studying languages and music for one year. When he was a young man, his father came to Minneapolis to reorganize the wholesale grocery business known as H. G. Harrison & Company, into Harrison, Farrington & Company. Sone years later Mr. Harrison retired from active live and his death occured soon afterward. In 1916 tne company was reorganized and Mr. Farrington, who had been connected with the company since 1884, went to Perry Harrison and induced him to leave the banking business and join in strengthening the corporation. The 0fficers of the company are: F. G. Winston, president; R.B. Stevern vice president; L. H. Farrington, treasurerl and P.R. MacMichael, secretary. They are wholesale grocers and their business has bewcome one of extensive proportions.
n the 29th of January 1890, was celebrated the marriage of Mr. Farrington to Mrs. Katharine S. French, a daughter of George F. French. To their union three children have been born: Katharine, who is now Mrs. Robert H. Noyes of Portland, Oregon; Samuel Putnam, who married Gwendolyn Robertson of London, England, a daughter of John M. Robertson, one of th eprivy counsellors to the King of England; and Elizabeth, who is now Mrs. Roichmond Mayosmith of Boston.
Since attaining his majority Mr. Farrington has given his political endorsement to the Republican party and although he has never sought nor desired public office, he is eve congnizant of the duties and responsibilities as well as the privileges of citizenship and to that end is active in the furtherance of any movement for the development and emporvement of the general welfare. His religious fath is that of the Presbyterian Church and socially he is identified with the Woodhill, Minneapolis and Minikahda Clubs.
