FRASER, Ruth M. - 78, West Leicester, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on July 6, 2008. Born in Cadomin, Alta., she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Helen (Bowser) Simmonds. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be long remembered by her family and friends. A lady of many talents and boundless energy, she piloted an airplane, built her own kayak, and designed her own home. She was a Girl Guide leader, and acted as a patient representative at a local hospital. She was an active bowler at the Thursday Morning Bowling League. She also took great pleasure in gardening and bee keeping. In addition to her husband Richard, of West Leicester, she will be long remembered by her children, David, Rhode Island; Kathryn (Steven) Easterbrook, Virginia; Robert, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Shanon, Kerri, Kristen, Katie, and Brett; great-grandchild, Alysia; brothers, Gordon (Donna), West Leicester; Steven (Diane), Brookdale; sisters, Janette Gilroy, Stanley, and Norma Tower, West Leicester. She was predeceased by sister, Virginia Simmonds. Arrangements have been entrusted with Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777). WEST LEICESTER? Vera M Bowser, 100, of West Leicester, passed away peacefully at the All Saints Hospital, Springhill on Friday, Nov. 14, 2008.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late William and Cecilia (Morris) Simmonds.
She was a member of the Trinity-St. Stephens United Church. The love of her life was her family. She enjoyed fishing, needlepoint, crocheting and her favorite pastime was a good game of cards.
She will be dearly missed by daughters, Eleanor (Smith) Archibald, Betty (Donald) MacDonald, Geraldine (Wendell) Smith, Phyllis (Norton) Sweeney, Dorothy Bowser, Bonnie (Charlie) Harrison, Margaret (Randy) Smith and Marjorie Bowser; sons, William (Beatrice) and Richard (Jennie); 34 grandchildren, 45 great- and 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Laura Simmonds; daughter-in-law Greta Bowser.
She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd (1983) and by sons Douglas (1992) and Norman (1959), and by granddaughter Linda Gilroy and three great-grandchildren in infancy.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, where a private service will be held at a later date. Burial in the Amherst Cemetery.

BenjaminGeorge Eyre was a Colonel during the War of the Revolution and at the battle of Princeton was an aid de camp to General Washington. In the historical painting of the Battle ofPrinceton, by Colonel TYrumbull, Colonel Eyre's figure has been placed on the same canvas quite consistently, charging withsword in hand, without his cap, on his horse's back. He died 11 Jul 1789.
