Fred Morse of Malden, Mass. in1910
Posted by: ISABEL MARESH (ID *****1608) Date: August 10, 2005
My father's Uncle Fred H. Morse, aged 43, with a 32 year-old wife, Susan was in Malden, Mass. when the 1910 Census was taken, with daughters, Emily, aged 2 yrs., and Marion, aged a few months. Family Bible records state that Fred died Oct. 2, 1917. A family diary record says that he died in Boston, Mass. Fred had been married to Cordelia Hall, and lived in or about Jamaica Plain. Cordelia died Feb. 12, 1887, leaving at least 4 children, possibly six. The children were Gertrude, Charles, Maud and Fred Greenfield Morse. They were brought back here to Belmont, Maine where Fred, Sr. had been born. Possibly there was Horace M. Morse who died Feb. 2, 1895 and Harry W. Morse who died, according to the family Bible in Sept. 1887. I had thought that possibly Cordelia had died in childbirth, but if Harry was her son, he died seven months later. It is still possibly that Cordelia had died during or after his birth. I am really interested in the second family, and wonder if Fred and Susan had more children before 1917, and who Emily and Marion married, and if they have posterity. I also was curious to know if Fred married between 1887 when Cordelia died, and 1906 when the Census states that he and Susan were married, but the Census stated that it was a second marriage for Fred, a first for Susan. I appreciate any info. God bless. Isabel Morse Maresh

General Notes: Wife - Lovina Southworth
Father: Constant SOUTHWORTH b: 20 AUG 1764 in Duxbury, MA
Mother: Lucy PERRY b: 28 DEC 1760 in Sandwich, MA
Lovina probably was a daughter of Constant and Lucy
Perry (and not Lucy Ford)which is why it seems that the other
Southard children do not appear to have taken Lucy, if she was
their step-mother and Lovina's biological mother. The Southard
Geneology does not list Lovina as a child, but evidence
suggests that she was related and most likely a
daughter.
Lovina's gravestone gives her date of death, but no
age is given to provide evidence as to whether she was born
before the marriage of Constant Southard and Lucy Perry or
after to prove which Lucy was her mother.

NOTICE: "the posting of portions of General Bezaleel Thayer's 1874 Thayer genealogy ... has recently come to my attention. In many many instances his publication is in error. It is known as "The Disaster of 1874" in knowledgeable genealogical circles. I have published an errata to this work that includes just lineage mistakes alone. He assigned many of the wrong people to the wrong parents and even married individuals to the wrong spouses.
"If the reader wishes to verify, aside from my word, or that of my assistant, Jerry Thayer, it would be better for them to go to the works of someone who had checked with ORIGINAL sources. The best I can suggest is the unpublished manuscript of Waldo Chamberlain Sprague located in the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston, MA; or at the Braintree Historical Society in Braintree, MA."
Compiled by Thom Danicki (danickit at comcast.net) from a variety of sources.

Henry Percy plotted to de- throne Henry IV.
He was knighted by Edward III at Windsor on April 23, 1377, along with
the future kings Richard II and Henry IV, who were almost exactly his own
age. He first bore arms at the recapture of Berwick by his father in
December, 1378. When travelling in Prussia in 1383, he hurried back to
Flanders to take part in the expected fighting there in the bishop of
Norwich's "crusade," and in that year he began his official work on the
Border, as a commissioner to receive money due from the King of Scotland.
He was appointed warden of the Eastern March on July 30, 1384, and again,
for three years, on April 12, 1388. He attended Richard II on his
expedition into Scotland in 1385 and was called by the Scots "Haatspore"
owing to his restless activity as warden of the Marches in repressing the
inroads of the Scottish borderers. He was in command of a squadron at sea
against the French in August, 1387. He was Knight of the Garter before
April 23, 1388. He wasthe English commander at the battle of Otterburn
(Chevy Chase) on August 10,1388, where Douglas, the Scottish commander,
was slain and Percy himself wastaken prisoner. He was speedily ransomed.
In 1399 he acted with his father in the proceedings which placed Henry IV
on the throne. He was made Knight of the Bath on March 17, 1399/1400, on
the eve of the coronation. The Welsh campaign of 1401 was put in charge
of Hotspur and the young Prince of Wales, and he was made King's
lieutenant in north and south Wales on March 31, 1402. With his father,
he won the notable victory of Homildon Hill over the Scots on September
24, 1402, at which Douglas was taken prisoner. The question of the
ransoming of Douglas was added to other causes of friction with the King.
ByJune, 1403, Hotspur was openly marching with about 4000 northern
rebels through Lancashire and Cheshire with a view to meeting Glendower,
but was forced with only his own inferior force to fight the King. Henry
IV intercepted and defeated him, and he was killed at the battle of
Shrewsbury on July 21, 1403.He was initially buried at Whitchurch, but,
upon a rumor that he was still alive, he was disinterred, his head sent
to York, and his quarters to London, Newcastle, Bristol, and Chester.
These were delivered to his widow in November, and buried in York
Minster. In January, 1403/04, Hotspur's insurrection was declared treason
and forfeiture followed thereupon.

He was restored to his family's dignity and estates by Henry V in 1416, and became a member of the council of regancy on Henry's death in 1422. A supporter of Henry VI's queen, Margaret of Anjou, he opposed Richard, 3rd Duke of York, and his allies, the Neville, hereditary enemies of the Percys; on May 22, 1455 he fought with the Lancastrians at St. Albans and fell fighting the Nevilles. )The Wars of the Roses: 185, 217)

I exchange data with people who have a interlocking marriage
into any surnames that interlocks into any of the branches
of my families.I started when I was 10 years old now 68years.
I am sharing my data in the interest of collaborative research.
I do this to help people to find there lineages and to fill
the pedigree charts.
I have not personally researched all families listed; dates
and information are subject to verification. Not responsible
for typographical errors misplaced citations. Missing
sources/references are because of my learning curve, not my
intention. You are encouraged to seek further documention
for your own confirmation.Further I have no control what
other people include about their families in any of the
data that they exchange.
If there are no dates about the living, then the computers
can not determine if the person is alive or deceased.
The sites set the living anywhere from 75 to 100 years
depending on the laws of the countries that they are in.
When I exchange with lineages the living are sometime shown
depending on who you are exchanging with, but my
request is that,if you update any of my data to the
internet, you also set the do not show the living, before
you update to the internet.
Also place in the source your contact email
address, and the lineage, so people can contact you
reqarding your update.
I have no claim to owning the data, except that which is
my immediate lineage, and even that is worked on by many
members of my family lineages. It is only as good as what
people put into it,that exchange with me. So look
in the notes of the genealogy for origin, if they put it
there,or the source.
If you are going to correct, update or put new branches on the
lineage your are inquirying about, please do not add from what
I have sent you,(This just duplicates how many more people
I have to find in the duplicates and merge them, edit your
notes to ensure that there is nothing there that you do not
want published.
Also do not submit information on copyrights that invades the
privacy of others especially for a relative that has not given
you permission to publish same.
Remember nothing is carved in stone except time.
The best way for me to describe the relationship, is for
example if you have 6,000 people in your data base
that are connected via interlocking marriages, and
you find that you have a marriage that is interlocked into
one of my people in my data base, then they are related
via interlocking marriages, does not matter how distant.
The difference here is that the interlocking into my data
base would link to over 631,749 people via interlocking
marriages.
My hobby is working on interlocking marriages,to any
family surname that is in my data, and I exchange with
people to find them, and to assist them in finding lineage
that link into their families.
