Elliott Roosevelt was handsome and charming; not at all like bis br other Teddy, wbo had a queer voice, enormous teeth, and wore thick glasses.
There was an impulsive, appealing quality about Elliott. As a child of seven he gave his new overcoat to a raggelurchin who looked cold. "He never could learn to control his heart by his head," said his daughter Eleanor, the future First Lady. "With him the heart always dominated.
When Franklin Delano Roo sevelt was born his parents asked Elliott to be a godparent. He replied that while unworthy of the distinction, "My dear little mother has persuadel me th at I should accept the high honor you
offer me." Elliott was amusing.
Not long after returning frorn his world safari he married Anna Hall, granddaughter of a Livingston and great-great-granddaughter of the powerful Chancellor. With her blue eyes and sunny hair, all agreed that Anna was a singularly beautiful and gracious woman, a queen of the world in which she moved. The young couple, wrote their daughter, joined the ,,fun loving younger set an Long Island in summer, with hunting and polo and gay evening parties. Elliott also took up serious drinking.

Anna could trace her Livingston heritage back to the American Revolution: one relative signed the Declaration of Independence and another administered the oath of office to George Washington. The oldest of six children, Anna was raised in a household that demanded discipline and viewed playfulness as an affront to God. Although her education was limited to etiquette and religion, seventeen-year-old Anna was forced to take control of the family and help manage the finances after her father died suddenly without leaving a will. Respectable, charming, and a striking beauty, Anna quickly became the leading debutante of the 1881 season. Within three months, Elliott Roosevelt had become enchanted with her.
Elliott Roosevelt was the polar opposite of Anna: dashing, outgoing, volatile, and sensual; "an enormously attractive man bent on self-destruction." He was a sickly child and his father, Theodore Roosevelt, Sr., grew so concerned about Elliott's health that he sent him to Texas, convinced that a man's health was more important than his education. Elliott would spend two years out west and then travel to India and the Himalayas before returning home to care for the dying father he adored. Yet Elliott was unprepared for adulthood without his father's guidance and discipline and, despite his good intentions, adopted a life more defined by parties and alcohol than banking and real estate. When Elliott Roosevelt married Anna Hall on 1 December 1883, he was more bon vivant than junior partner in a real estate firm and had begun battling the depression that would plague him for the rest of his life.

Hillsborough, N.H., a one hundredacre lot in New Penacook, county of
York, Me., on the north side of the river that runs through said town.
[Cumb. Deeds, xxix. 35.] Dec. 8, 1804 . Jonathan Conner was appointed
administrator of the estate of Hannah, wife of Jeremiah Richardson, late
of Gilmanton. [Strafford Probate Records, ix. 32 3.] From this it appears
that Hannah, the first wife of Jeremiah Richardson, had lately died, and
there can be no doubt that it was her brother who was appointed
administrator and that her maiden name was Conner. Jeremiah Richardson,
her husband, sold seventy-one acres of land in Gilmanton, his interest
and right in the same being derived, through his wife, from Philip
Conner.
He died previous to August, 1814, when a second account of
administration on his estate was presented in court by Joseph Richardson,
the administrator, probablyhis son. A dower had been set off, Jan. 9,
1812, to Betsey Richardson, the widow. (Strafford Probate Records, xiv.
95 and xv. 507.)
One of the childrenof Jeremiah Richardson probably was:
Joseph, already mentioned. Another was:
William, b. 1801. He was a member of the class which completed a
Theological course at the Andover Seminary in September, 1830; was
ordained pastor of the Second Congregational Church at Wilton, N.H., Dec.
15, 1830, and continued in that relation ten years. He was stated supply
at Lydenborough, N.H. , one year, and at Deering, N.H., from 1842 to
1846. He then made a home at Manchester, N.H., and died there Sept. 6,
1869, aged 68. His will, dated Marcy 13, 1861, proved Nov. 18, 1869,
gives his estate to his wife, Olive T. Richardson, during her life. Other
legatees were his nephew, Horace P. Dudley, and the N. H. Bible Society.

Mary Jane Plourd came to Ks. at age of 12 from Wisconsin. Her chruch affiliation was the Hall Wesleyn Methodist Church, Lamar, Ks.
Obituary
Mrs. Mary Jane Allison was born November 23,1861 and died at her home south of Lamar, Kansas, Feb. 16,1928, at the age of 66 yrs,two months and 23 days. At the age of 12yrs. she with her parents Mr. and Mrs. A.W.Plourd, came from Wisconsin to Ottawa Co., where she has since resided. In the year of 1881 she was united in marriage to James Allison, who preceded her in death in May 1925. Eight children were born, all of whom survive her. They are George, Arthur, Ray,Harry, Keith and Cecil of Ottawa Co., Frank fromm Dulap, Kansas and Fred of Long Beacy, Calif. With these are left to cherish her memory, a brother, four sisters and a large number of other relatives and friends. Several yrs ago Mrs. Allison was converted to the Christian faith. She lived a quiet and reserved life, was devoted to her family and labored constantly for their good. She was ill only a fewdays before her death, and the suddenness of her going adds to the sorrow of those lift behind. The funeral services were held at the Hall church in charge of Rev. E.A. Coates, who was assisted by Rev. Hall of Lamar. Her body was laidto rest in the Hall cem.

John Pierce was a master shipbuilder and a member of the K. P. Heassisted in building the "Kearcarge". He was on the committee thatbrought the old red cast iron bridge to Bowdoinham. He was veryprominent.
