This F.S. Fam. was closely related to ROLPH of W., (vide, ante, PART THREE, p. 433).
It is most easy, via Quart. Court. Recs., (Essex County, Mass.), to establish the fatherhood, in GILES CROMWELL, (also CROMLON, alias), of Newbury, Mass., (COFFIN, p. 300). He could have been a bro. of the first PHILIP CROMWELL (infra). The sons of GILES are assoc., in these records, in such a way that the conclu. is centain. He was an early settler there, and first w. d. 14 June, 1648. He m. (2), Alice Wiseman, 10 Sept. 1648, who d. 1669, June 6. (COFFIN, p. 300; SAVAGE, Vol. I, p. 476).
They had that child, peculiar name, (worth pursuing, gen.), ARGENTINE, who m. 25 Nov. 1662, BENJAMIN CRAM, the undoubted source, by fam. application of the name, of BENJAMIN CROMWELL, in the next gener. Also, a dau. DOROTHY, a W. pre-nom.; PHILIP CROMWELL, likewise; THOMAS, with wife, ANN, certainly; "and, perhaps, JOHN CROMWELL," well, quite, yes. The old gentleman d. 25 Feb. 1673, while Dorothy d. 27 Sept. 1673, at Salem, where the fam. rem. under THOMAS CROMWELL, and her grave-stone said "aged 67," which fastens her b. 1604, and the gen. of her father. bef. 1600. PHILIP CROMWELL went to Salem, and had a wife, Dorothy. (q.v.). These are all in QUART. COURT RECS., (many refs.). Thomas Cromwell, b. 1617, was in Newbury in 1637, moved to Hampton in 1639, and d. in Boston. A connect. link; (N. E. HIST. GEN. REG., Vol. 30, p. 459).
When THOMAS CROMWELL of Newbury, d. 1646-7, his will was brought into court 29:7: 1646 to be proved, and GYLES CROOMWELL objected to it, (PROB. RECS., ESSEX, Vol. 1, p. 53).

Facts related by Eliz. were that her father died in an accident while her mother was pregnant with her. Haven't been able to prove this but have no reason to doubt it. After Patrick's death she married Cronshaw and lived in Rochester NY. It's been said that Mr. Cronshaw was a widower with children and Hannah had 6. Also I remember something about a child born to Hannah and Cronshaw who died young.

Leo Paul Manter, 54, of 1010 Woodruff St died at the Bristol
Convalescent Home
after a short illness.
Born Jan 9, 1924 in Fort Fairfield, Maine., the son of the late Loren and
Annie Michaud Manter, he lived in Southington for the past 14 years.
He was a former chef at Mario's Old Cromwell Inn. He served in the US Army
during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Kiltonic Post American Legion.
and was a past commander of the post. He was a member ofChef's Assn of Connecticut.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Boucher Manter; his step-mother,
Hazel Manter, two sons Wayne and Thomas Manter, two sisters Bernice
Gallagher and Albertine Johnson. all of southington and several neices and nephews.
Millitary funeral service were held Wednesday Aug 2 at Della Vecchia Funeral Home
The Rev Walter Geraghty of St Dominic Church officiated Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Grandpa Frank began as a "riverdriver" for Great Northern Paper Company,
driving logs down the Penobscot River. He was often home for six months at
a time, living in the logging camps. He married Helen Ruth Lee at age 30, in 1913.
He built the family home at 13 Maple St East Millinocket, which is still in the family (1979).
