General Notes: Husband - Ensign Samuel Fifield

Samuel Fifield, born 14 June 1735, bapt. 13 July 1735, married Ruth Brown, and lived at Hopkinton. He moved to Vermont in 1790, dying at Danville in 1812. He was a soldier in Moses Foster's company in the Revolution. (as per The American Genealogist v.19, page 101)

Samuel lived in East Kingston until 30-35 years old, then became one of the first settlers of Gilmanton in 1769 or 1770. Moved to Canterbury after about 20 years, then to Norwich, VT where he was in 1795. Next moved to Wheelock, VT with son Edward and was there for the next fourteen years. He and wife both died at home of Stephen Randall and daughter Rachel in Danville. Soldier in His Majesty's Service at 18, served during French and Indian Wars and invaded Canada in 1760. Fought under General Stark at battle of Bennington. Title of Ensign. Was a soldier in Moses Foster's company in the Revolution. William Washburn was born 8 June 1760 in Bridgewater, Plymouth Co., Massachusetts to Ezra Washburn and Susanna Leach. He married Lurana Darling on 9 Oct. 1783 in New Braintree, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts. William Washburn was a Revolutionary War pensioner. He marched with a detachment from the Oakham (Massachusetts) company on the Rhode Island alarm, July 23, 1777, and on the Bennington alarm, August 20, 1777. He enlisted September 7, 1777, in Capt. Crawford's company raised in Hardwick, Oakham and New Braintree, for the Stillwater campaign and was in the battles that resulted in the surrender of General Burgoyne. July 5, 1780, he was engaged for three months in Capt. Timothy Paige's Co., Col. John Rand's Regt. for service at West Point, and was made Corporal. He was discharged October 10, 1780.

The Richardson Memorial by John Adams Richardson, 1876, pg 266:
STEPHEN RICHARDSON; b. July 6, 1743; m. Mercy Darling.
He was a blacksmith and lived in various places. In 1768 he lived in
Bridgewater; after that in Pembroke, Mass.,which at that time bordered
on Bridgewater. In 1791, he removed to Buckfield, then called Bucktown,
in Maine. That town was then in Cumberland County, but now in Oxford
County.
March 15, 1793, he bought of Stephen Swett, physician of Bucktown, one
hundred acres of land in that town; which in the June following he sold,
and brobably bought elsewhere. [Cumb. Deeds, xx. 77, 219.]
His sons were farmers or mechanics.
