John Webster came from Ipswich, Eng., settled in Ipswich, Mass.; was Freeman in 1635. He married, Mary Shatswell. Their children were, John, Thomas, Stephen, Nathan, Israel, and four daughters. He died in 1647.

JOHN WEBSTER1 born in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, came to America and settled at Ipswich, Massachusetts, in 1632. He was made Freeman in Boston, Massachusetts, 1635. Proprietor in 1634. Clerk of bonds 1642. Applied for land and received a grant of land by the Creek. (From Massachusetts Colonial Records). He was a member of the Woodman party in Church affairs. He married Mary Shatswell (sometimes spelled Satchwell). (She had four brothers who came to America, John, Richard, Curwin, and Theophilus Shatswell). He died November 4, 1646, and his widow married (2) John Emery on August 28, 1650. At the request of the widow, the estate of John Webster was equally divided between his children. She died April 28, 1694, at Newbury, Massachusetts.

purchased 280 acres of land partly in Topsfield and in Boxford. He
was a tailor.
1661. Resident of that part of Rowley which became Boxford.
1673. One of six petitioners to the General Court, asking that
efforts to remove them from Topsfield and them to the jurisdiction of
Rowley be prevented.
1678. Oath of allegiance.
1680. Given as head of family in Rowley.
1693. Died intestate, with son Samuel named as administrator.

In The American Genealogist, # 145, Jan. 1961 there
is an article titled - Ellis and Freeman Notes: Addenda. "John
Hodsell 2nd owned lands at Ash and Stansted, Kent, as proved by
the will of his son, John Hodsell 3rd, and the i.p.m.
[Inquisition Post Mortem -inquisition of the possessions of a
deceased person who held land of the Crown] of the latter
[Sussex Archives Collections, LX, pp.53-64]. It is evident that
he descended from John Hodsell the younger who, with his wife
Margaret, were deforciants (those who hold by force from the
rightful owner) in a fine dated 8 R II (1384), concerning lands
at Kemsing and Stansted. He made his will in January 1423/4
(proved the following month). He left legacies to the churches
at Stansted and Kemsing, desiring to be buried in the church at
Ash.
These Hodsolls seem to have descended from Thomas de
Hodsoll or Clement de Hodsoll, who are named in the lay subsidy
of Kent, 12 E III (1338). De Banco Rolls of seven years later
show that Otto de Grandison by his attorney sued Roger son of
Clement de Hodesol, and Thomas, brother of Roger, re the fee
[land] of Otto at Esshe (perhaps Ash).
These Hodsolls used from very early times a seal
"azure, three stone wells argent, two and one," evidently
alluding to a place called Holywell"

"IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN Anno domini one thousand sixe hundred and
sixe the fiue and Twentith daye of Maye I ROBERT CLEMENTES of Croft in
the countie of Lecester yeoman haue made and ordeined this my last
will and Testamente in manner and forme followinge Imprimis I give and
bequeathe my soule into the hands of Almightie God trustinge that by
the merites death and passion of my sauiour Jesus Christe I shall haue
pardon and forgiuenesse of all my sinnes and my bodie to be interred

Percival Lowle undoubtably was born somewhere in County Somerset, England, where his ancestors for more than four centuries are recorded to have lived. He was born in 1571 and spent his years as a young man at or near Kingston-Seymour in County Somerset where his father Richard Lowle resided. At the age of 26 he held the office of Assessor of Kingston-Seymour. He is next found in the seaport city of Bistol in the West of England engaged in merchandising, chiefly of imported wares, carrying the name of Percival Lowle and Company. In the year 1639 he severed connections with England and with his wife, Rebecca, and two sons, John and Richard, his daughter Joane and their families, came in the "Jonathan" to the Massachusetts Colony. In June of that year they settled at Newbury, Essex County, Massachusetts.
Accompanying the Lowle's were Joane's husband, John Oliver and his partner William Gerrish, his clerk Anthony Somerby, Anthony's brother Henry, and Richard Pole (who was apprenticed to John).
On the Town Rate of Newbury, 1688 "Mr. Per Lowle" was placed for "2 heads, 1 horse, 5 plowlands, 10 meadows, 1 house, 4 oxen, 4 cows, 1 3-year old, 1 2-year old, 1 1-year old, 10 sheep, and 2 hogs."
