General Notes: Husband - Wilfred J. Cyr
Millinocket - Wilfred J. Cyr, 85, passed away peacefully at home to be with his Lord April 20th, 2011 with family members by his side. He was born in St. Francis, Maine on January 27th, 1926, the son of Dennis and Alexina (Jandreau) Cyr.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He participated in action at Iwo Jima on Volcano Island in 1945.
Wilfred belonged to the Francis E. Elliott Post #4154, V.F.W. and the American Legion Post #80 of Millinocket.
Wilfred retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990. He also worked as a firefighter for the Millinocket Fire Department and as a constable for the Millinocket Police Department. After his retirement he enjoyed a passion as a painter and continued this for a number of years. Wilfred was noted for his love of work, willingness to lend a helping hand, his practical jokes, his sense of humor, and was often referred to by his friends as "The Wild Frenchman". He also enjoyed time with his best little buddy Niko.
Wilfred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann ( Simond ) Cyr of Millinocket, daughters Susan E. ( Cyr ) Howard and husband Ken of Plymouth, Maine, Theresa A. Lane and husband Steven, Brenda J. Cyr and friend Robert Whalen, both of Millinocket, sister in-law Rachael Cyr of Millinocket and several nieces and nephews. His granddaughters, Shelby and Taylor Lane of Millinocket were the apple of his eye. Wilfred was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Alphie, Renis and Robert Cyr, sister Chantel Cyr, a half brother Albine Cyr and a half sister Regina Taggette.

Blanche of Artois
(1248 - 2 May 1302) was the queen regent of Navarre from 1274 to 1284, and later became Countess of Lancaster by marrying into the English royal family. She was the daughter of Count Robert I of Artois and Matilda of Brabant. From 1274 to 1284 she ruled Navarre and the counties of Brie, Champagne, Troyes et Meaux for her daughter, Joan I of Navarre (ruled 1274 to 1305).
Family
Blanche's paternal grandparents were Louis VIII of France and Blanche of Castile. Her maternal grandparents were Henry II, Duke of Brabant and Marie of Hohenstaufen, daughter of Philip of Swabia.
First marriage
Blanche married Henry I of Navarre (ruled 1270-1274) who died in 1274. They had two children:
· Theobald - d. 1270 fell from a battlement at the castle of Estella
· Joan I of Navarre, who became Queen regnant of Navarre and Queen consort of France
Second marriage
After Henry's death, Blanche married Edmund Crouchback (1245-1296), in 1276, an English prince who was a younger son of Henry III and Eleanor of Provence. Edmund was also a widower, his young wife having died the same year as Blanche's husband.
Edmund and Blanche had four children:

Thomas de Clifford, a Lancastrian, fought for the cause of King Henry VI
andwas slain at the first Battle of St. Alban's. He was a descendant of
Edward 3rd.

THOMAS CLIFFORD, 8th Lord Clifford, hereditary Sheriff of Westmorland,
only son and heir, was born on 25 March 1414 (aged seven years and
forty-three weeks at father's death). He was summoned to Parliament
1436-1453.He was married after March 1424 to JOAN DACRE, daughter of
Thomas Dacre, 6thLord Dacre of Gilsland, by Philippe (descendant of King
Edward I), daughter of Ralph de Neville, Earl of
Westmorland [see DACRE 8 for her ancestry]. They had four sons and five
daughters. She predeceased her husband. He was summoned to Parliament
from 19 December 1436. THOMAS CLIFFORD, 8th Lord Clifford, a Lancastrian,
was slain fighting for King Henry VI at the first Battle of St. Albans on
22 May 1455, and was buried in the Abbey church there (former M.I.).

John; Richard; George; Joan, married Thomas, 8th Lord de Clifford; and
Isabel, married to Lord Scrope, of Upsal.

Ranulph de Dacre had summons to parliament as Baron Dacre from 15 May,
1321, to 15th November, 1338. His lordship was made sheriff of Cumberland
and governor of Carlisle in the 4th Edward III [1331], and in the 8th of
the same monarch he obtained livery of all those castles and manors in
Annandale, within the realm of Scotland, part of the possessions of Roger
de Kirkpatric and Humphrey de Bois, which had been given to him by
Edward, King of Scotland. He was also, in the same year, joined in
commission with Robert de Clifford for the defence of the town and
marches of Carlisle, and forarraying so many "men at arms, hoblers, and
foot soldiers," as should be needful for the service. In the next year he
had license to make a castle of hishouse at Naworth, co. Cumberland. His
lordship married Margaret, only daughter and heiress of Thomas de Multon,
Baron Multon, of Gillesland (by writ of Edward II, dated 26 August,
1307), by whom he acquired considerable estates and left, at his decease
in 1339, William, Thomas, Ralph, and Hugh.
