General Notes: Child - Wilfred J. Cyr
Millinocket - Wilfred J. Cyr, 85, passed away peacefully at home to be with his Lord April 20th, 2011 with family members by his side. He was born in St. Francis, Maine on January 27th, 1926, the son of Dennis and Alexina (Jandreau) Cyr.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He participated in action at Iwo Jima on Volcano Island in 1945.
Wilfred belonged to the Francis E. Elliott Post #4154, V.F.W. and the American Legion Post #80 of Millinocket.
Wilfred retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990. He also worked as a firefighter for the Millinocket Fire Department and as a constable for the Millinocket Police Department. After his retirement he enjoyed a passion as a painter and continued this for a number of years. Wilfred was noted for his love of work, willingness to lend a helping hand, his practical jokes, his sense of humor, and was often referred to by his friends as "The Wild Frenchman". He also enjoyed time with his best little buddy Niko.
Wilfred is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ann ( Simond ) Cyr of Millinocket, daughters Susan E. ( Cyr ) Howard and husband Ken of Plymouth, Maine, Theresa A. Lane and husband Steven, Brenda J. Cyr and friend Robert Whalen, both of Millinocket, sister in-law Rachael Cyr of Millinocket and several nieces and nephews. His granddaughters, Shelby and Taylor Lane of Millinocket were the apple of his eye. Wilfred was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Alphie, Renis and Robert Cyr, sister Chantel Cyr, a half brother Albine Cyr and a half sister Regina Taggette.

James W. Griffin Sr., age 78, died Saturday at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born at Livermore Falls jan 25, 1917, son of George and Mary Penny Griffin. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School and Colby College, and attended Northwestern University.
Mr. Griffin worked for Great Northern Paper in East Millinocket as production manager. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He married Eleanor Cyr on Jan 7, 1934.
He is survived by his wife of Oxford; one son, James W. Jr. of Montville, N.J.; and one daughter, Penny of Netcong, N.J.; six grandchildren and six great0grandchildren.

PRESQUE ISLE - Malcolm K. Dempsey, a proud and loving husband and father passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center at the age of 90. Malcolm was born in Presque Isle on July 17, 1923 the son of Milford and Elizabeth (Cyr) Dempsey. After many years living in other places, he returned to Maine for his final days to spend with his longtime friend and current wife. He was proud of his Maine heritage and welcomed everyone with his bright smile, hand shake and famous saying "Keep Maine Green"."He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." - Psalm 91 An avid churchgoer, Malcolm believed in the miracles God would provide. He served through his dedication to the Catholic Church for many years as an Eucharistic minister and altar server. He attended mass daily, as his health permitted. "We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give" - Churchill. Malcolm lived his life a by a simple rule, make others happy. He was always quick with a joke, or a helping hand. Malcolm loved life and loved people and loved to tease. He was a true gentleman, always holding the door for lines of people. He loved all sports and was a decorated athlete. A well-known Class of '42 Presque Isle High School cross country runner, Malcolm had recently been honored by the induction into the Presque Isle High School Hall of Fame. He would dance or play golf any chance he had. He also very proudly served his country in the Army as a World War II Veteran.While he will be missed by those left behind, Malcolm is beginning a new adventure forward...one he has prepared for and embraced. Malcolm is survived in life by his lovely wife, Wilma Cambridge Dempsey of Presque Isle, ME, his 3 children and their spouses, Joe and Nancy Dempsey of Lyman, ME, Anne Dempsey and Kevin Kearns of Westford, MA, and Patrick and Bonny Dempsey of Washington, DC, his 7 grandchildren; Chris Dempsey, Heidi Dempsey, Malcolm Kearns, Duncan Kearns, Danielle Miller, Megan Medina, and Samantha Dempsey, as well as his 3 great grandchildren, Taylor, Ayden and Genevieve. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wives, Mary (Kidney) Dempsey and Alice LeMay, and his brother, Robert Dempsey.

LILLIAN M. DAIGLE
VAN BUREN - Lillian M. Daigle, 83, died Dec. 20, 2002, at a Van Buren nursing home. She was born in Van Buren, Sept. 2, 1919, the daughter of Remi P. and Ida (Levesque) Daigle. Lillian attended local schools and was a 1939 graduate of Sacred Heart High School. She worked in Ossining, N.Y. for many years, at the Cambridge Instrument Co., as an inspector of medical instruments, and for 20 years at General Precision, for the Singer Sewing Machine Co. as a line inspector. She was also employed by Rand-McNally inspecting airline tickets. Lillian is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Irene Dumond and her husband, Donald, of Van Buren; a nephews, Richard "Mike" Daigle and wife, Lisette, of Madawaska, and their children, James and Steve; two nieces, Rolande LeBlanc and her husband, Sterling, of Rockland and their sons, Todd and Shane; Mona Sterns and her husband, Richard of Thomaston and sons, Doni Charlson and David Sterns. In addition to her parents, Lillian was predecease!
d by two brothers, Archie Daigle and Emile "Mike" Daigle; and by two sisters, Esther Daigle and Adrienne Gensler. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 12 High St., Van Buren, from 1 p.m. until time of service on Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Monday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Spring interment will be in the parish cemetery. Millinocket – Alma Cyr, 93, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born December 2, 1914 in Fort Kent, the daughter of Fred and Delia (Theriault) Voisine. Alma was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a communicant of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Millinocket, and was an active member of the Daughters of Isabella, Little Flower Circle. Alma loved cooking and spending time with her family. She is survived by three sons, Ronald Cyr and his wife Judy of Millinocket, David Cyr and his wife Kathy of Brewer, and Galen Cyr and his wife Rhonda of Millinocket; five grandchildren, Paul Cyr and his wife Michelle of Scarborough, Christine Lee and her husband Randy of Odessa, Texas, Steven Cyr and his wife Amy of Bangor, Joseph Cyr of Millinocket, and Jason Cyr of Millinocket; four great grandchildren; a sister, Egline Charette of Fort Kent; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Alma was predeceased by her husband, Felix Cyr, a brother, Alcide Voisine, and a sister, Rena Laferrier. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a Rosary Service will be conducted at 7 P.M. by the officers and members of the Daughters of Isabella, Little Flower Circle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 18 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 112 Maine Avenue, Millinocket with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. General Notes: Child - Ronald Cyr
MILLINOCKET - Ronald C. Cyr, 71, died unexpectedly Feb. 23, 2013, in Florida. He was born Dec. 1, 1941, in Millinocket, the son of Felix and Alma (Voisine) Cyr.
Ron graduated from St. Martin of Tours School in 1960. Upon graduation from high school Ron went to work for Great Northern Paper Company where he was a machinist. Ron was treasurer of the Machinist Union. He spent six years in the National Guard. He was a lifelong member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks No. 1521. Ron was an avid artist who spent many hours drawing, painting, and building replicas of ships.
Ron is survived by his wife, Judy; his daughter, Christine Cyr Lee and husband, Randy; son, Steven Cyr; grandchildren, Sydney and Anna McConnell, and Landon Cyr. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Len Vaznis and wife, Christine, James Vaznis and Kathryn Vaznis; stepgrandchildren, Alex, Zachary and Jaysen Vaznis; brothers, Galen Cyr and wife, Rhonda, David Cyr and wife, Kathy; an aunt, Egline Charette of Fort Kent; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Ron was predeceased by his parents.
