Azarias farmed outside the village, but had a barn and cows into a barn at the back of his house. This is were we played whenever us kids went to St Gilles on a visit. Adrienne had been a school teacher, and music teacher. She played the piano right up to her death.

General Notes: Husband - Narcisse Drouin
BIO:Narcisse lived on the family farm which was situated at approx five
miles from the village of St Gilles on the way to St Patrice. He not
only farmed but was a horse trader. Venant his father probably lived
there also. Although only two children are shown so far for Narcisse, Arthur and Amanda, he had another son. He apparently kick the son out at an early age (15 or 16). The son eventually went to the State, and remained there all of his life. He never came back to Canada, nor talked to his father. However, he must have kept in touch with Arthur, because in the late 40s, Arthur on a trip to Biddeford, Maine, went to visit his brother, who as far as is known, was in another State than Maine.

She was 70 years old when she died in 1936.
General Notes: Child - Arthur Drouin
BIO:Arthur lived on the family farm until about l939/40. He then moved
to the Village and bought a house across from the parish church.
Next to the Montmagny house. He no longer farmed but was a hired
hand working for various farmers. Arthur died of cancer, and is
burried in the parish cemetery of St Gilles (family plot with his
grandfather and father. The family farm was located approx five
miles from the village, on right side of the road, going to
St Patrice. It is still there, on the road to St Patrice. Arthur
when the children were 8/10 years old moved to Biddeford, Maine to
work in the Mills. He returned to St Gilles after 3/4 years. however, he
always kept close touch with Biddeford, and as a matter of fact looked after one of his wife's sisters, child, Noel, for a number of year, in Canada and in the States.
General Notes: Child - Amenda Drouin
Amanda and Joe Veilleux, had a farm just outside the village of St Gilles. They had many children that lived in the area. In old age, they moved into the village. They used to walk to church together right into their 80s, like two love bird. Joe was a bit of a character. A very nice person, who once in a while (prabably every two months), used to take to the bottle (at home only), and stay in bed drinking for 3 or 4 days. He would then go back to work on the farm, as if nothing had happened.
There is no records at the presbytere of St Gilles that Amanda was born there. More than likely she was born in St Patrice/St Narcisse or St Sylvestre...to be checked.

General Notes: Child - Marie Anna Drouin
Marie-Anna Drouin was a school teacher in St Gilles for over 30 years. Starting with one room school house, with a wood stove, water freezing in winter, and small salary. She represented in the St Gilles 100 aniversary book as the type of oustanding schoolteacher who were responsible for the education of the children of the village.
I visited Marie-Anna in St Gilles on a few occasions. She never married, and lived in retirement in a small home in the village.
She is burried with her father and Mother at the St Gilles cemetery.

A link has been found between Sara Flamand and some Flemings of Ontario, through Linda Adair of Mississauga, Ont. Info filed under Family geneology sources.
David Flamand, Sara'a brother, born in St Gilles, moved to Northumberland country in his early 20. He changed his name to FLEMING. A carpenter by trade he settled around Harwood, Ont.(Harwood is situated on Rice lake, near Peterborough.)
One of his children, named LOUIS CHARLES FLEMING married Maud Margaret Wright. One of their children was Donald Methuen Fleming b. 23 May 1905 in Exeter, Ont. d. 1986. Donald Mathuen Fleming became the Honourable Donald Fleming, as a member of parliement as well as cabinet minister under Diefenbaker.
A twist of fate here, Raymond O'Hurley former mayor of St Gilles also became cabinet minister under Diefenbaker. Thus the little village of St Gilles produced two cabinet minister (one directly and the other through David Flamand).
Pages 239, 244, and 467 of Donald Fleming's memoir makes mention of these events. (So very near, The political memoir of the Honourable Donald M. Fleming, vol 1.)

Joseph is listed as having married Marie-Anne Guion. On p.136 of marriages I.O. it indicates that he is the widower of one Angelique Chausse. This confirm is marriage to "Guion" (Dion). According to Robert Provost the historian, most Guion became Dion. However, there is a discrepancies in that his children seem to have him listed as having married a Guimont. I believe she is one of the same as there is no "Guimont" listed in the marriages of I.O. register, just Guion.
