PIERRE A. BLANCHARD--Subject was born 1 August 1844 in Assumption Parish, son of Pierre and Elzia S. (Harbet) Blanchard, both of whom were natives of the same parish. Pierre Adolph received an ordinary education and in 1862, enlisted in Company A of the Eighteenth Louisiana Infantry, participating in the battles of Mansfield and Pleasant Hill. The unit was disbanded in May of 1865 in Natchitoches.
He was married 27 April 1869 to Miss Oliva Daigle of Assumption
Parish and they were the parents of nine children, four sons and five daughters. Pierre Adolph became the manager of H. Daigle plantation consisting of 1,180 acres six miles from Donaldsonville. There, he conducted a large open kettle process of making sugar and both he and his wife were living on the plantation in 1890

EAST MILLINOCKET-Herman Daigle, 85, died at Millinocket Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 19, 2008 surrounded by his loving family . He was born on February 7, 1923 to Hypolite and Melvina (Lajoie) Daigle of Verret, New Brunswick, Canada. Herman was the beloved husband of Alfreda (Levesque) Daigle whom he married on September 20, 1943 in Edmundston, New Brunswick Canada.
Herman was a direct descendant of Acadian Joseph Simon Daigle who helped settle the Madawaska and Edmundston area in early 1785 and also of Oliver Daigle who settled in (Acadie) Nova Scotia in 1663 from France. His ancestors were part of the Acadian deportation in 1755.
When Herman was about 14 years old, he worked as a lumberjack cutting wood during the winter months and helped on the farm during the summer. Herman was known as being expertly skilled at dropping a tree with safe and accurate precision. However, Herman and Bea wanted to have a better life for their small family and in 1955, Herman and Bea moved to East Millinocket so that Herman could work at Great Northern Paper Company mill, and there they had a very good life together. Herman worked for Great Northern Paper Company until he retired in 1985.
Herman took great pride and joy in his children and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He and his son, Maurice would work doing various carpentry jobs for people in East Millinocket in the summer months. Herman liked spending time at his camp on Smith Pond in Millinocket and traveling to visit family in Canada. Herman was also known for his generosity with his family and loved to spend time with them all. Herman was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church and served many years in the Knights of Columbus.
Herman is survived by his wife, Alfreda (Bea), son, Maurice Daigle and his wife Peggy of East Millinocket and Old Town, daughter; Francine Leathers and her husband Bob of East Millinocket, 4 grandchildren; Keli Daigle Marston of St. Augustine Florida, Robert Leathers of Medway, Andrew and Kyle Leathers of East Millinocket, 2 great grandchildren; Taylor Dawn and Kacie Marie Marston of Florida. He is also survived by his sisters Sadie Bosse and Rita Pelletier of Canada. He was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Angela Dawn Daigle and brothers Eddie, Hubald and Arthur Daigle.

General Notes: Child - Herman Daigle
EAST MILLINOCKET-Herman Daigle, 85, died at Millinocket Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 19, 2008 surrounded by his loving family . He was born on February 7, 1923 to Hypolite and Melvina (Lajoie) Daigle of Verret, New Brunswick, Canada. Herman was the beloved husband of Alfreda (Levesque) Daigle whom he married on September 20, 1943 in Edmundston, New Brunswick Canada.
Herman was a direct descendant of Acadian Joseph Simon Daigle who helped settle the Madawaska and Edmundston area in early 1785 and also of Oliver Daigle who settled in (Acadie) Nova Scotia in 1663 from France. His ancestors were part of the Acadian deportation in 1755.
When Herman was about 14 years old, he worked as a lumberjack cutting wood during the winter months and helped on the farm during the summer. Herman was known as being expertly skilled at dropping a tree with safe and accurate precision. However, Herman and Bea wanted to have a better life for their small family and in 1955, Herman and Bea moved to East Millinocket so that Herman could work at Great Northern Paper Company mill, and there they had a very good life together. Herman worked for Great Northern Paper Company until he retired in 1985.
Herman took great pride and joy in his children and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He and his son, Maurice would work doing various carpentry jobs for people in East Millinocket in the summer months. Herman liked spending time at his camp on Smith Pond in Millinocket and traveling to visit family in Canada. Herman was also known for his generosity with his family and loved to spend time with them all. Herman was a communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church and served many years in the Knights of Columbus.
Herman is survived by his wife, Alfreda (Bea), son, Maurice Daigle and his wife Peggy of East Millinocket and Old Town, daughter; Francine Leathers and her husband Bob of East Millinocket, 4 grandchildren; Keli Daigle Marston of St. Augustine Florida, Robert Leathers of Medway, Andrew and Kyle Leathers of East Millinocket, 2 great grandchildren; Taylor Dawn and Kacie Marie Marston of Florida. He is also survived by his sisters Sadie Bosse and Rita Pelletier of Canada. He was predeceased by his beloved granddaughter Angela Dawn Daigle and brothers Eddie, Hubald and Arthur Daigle.
