Born: Baptized: Died: Buried:

General Notes: Husband - Caleb Williamson
Caleb Williamson settled in Middleborough, and on 18 Apr. 1745 bought 24 acres of land on the north side of Taunton Path, where he built a houseand later purchased more land.
Fearing lest his eldest son, Caleb, Jr.,might move away on attaining his majority he conveyed to him, 29 Aug.1765, 20 acres of the northerly side of his homestead, being "68 polesfrom Fall Brook." The gift displeased his other children, for whom he could not do so much, and, finding himself unable to pay the legacies left by his mother, without selling land, he conveyed to his wife's brother, Samuel Ransom, all the property left by his deceased brother George, consisting of the latter's homestead farm of 50 acres, given to him by their father, George Williamson. In the autumn of 1775 he visited his brother-in-law, Lemuel Ransom, at Canterbury, Conn., and decided to remove thither. Therefore in Mar. and Apr. 1776 he conveyed to his sons, Caleb and George, respectively, 12 and 30 acres of his farm in Middleborough, sold the remainder of his homestead there, and on 23 Nov.1776 bought from Robert Ransom 80 acres of land in Canterbury, on the north side of the highway from Windham to Brooklyn meeting house and a little west of Rowland's Brook. This he subsequently sold, on 20 Apr.1778, to his son Ebenezer; and on 14 Feb. 1784 the latter conveyed land to his "Hon'd Father Caleb Williamson, bounded by land of Caleb Williamson Jr." Caleb Williamson, Sr., continued to live in Canterbury until 1790, when all his family had scattered, leaving himself and his wife alone. Shortly after that date he settled his estate, and during the last years of their life he and his wife made their home with their daughter Thankful, wife of William Paddock. The Canterbury farm may have been given to the latter in return for maintenance.
Caleb Williamson and his wife are buried in the Canterbury graveyard, 150rods south of their last home. The stones were standing in 1840. Caleb Williamson was a man of high honor, industrious and pure-minded. Governor Williamson, his grandson tells us of the old gentleman's quaint custom of wereing, while in the house, a white cap, instead of the wigwhich he donned on going abroad.

!Birth and death are from 'Mayflower Families Through Five Generations', vol 3 pg 87. Incomplete dates for her and erroneous information about her and her husband are given in the NEHGR article, probably because of the confusion of early recorders and subsequent researchers not realizing that the surname was Waste instead of West. (See notes for her father and husband.) LDS proxy temple ordinances are in the 1997 IGI from temple records.

!See notes of father. She was not on the family group sheet but there was a note at the bottom which said '2 dau. unnamed might have been born between 1661 and 1670 (seven daughters, unnamed, in settlement of father's estate).' The article in NEHGR, vol. 81 lists these two unnamed daughters as 10th and 11th children. An article in NEHGR vol. 115, pg 94, gives her as the wife of John Perry, son of Ezra. Another article in NEHGR vol. 126, pg 279, 'Elizabeth (?Williamson) Perry, Wife of John Perry of Sandwich, Mass.', by Lydia B. Brownson and MacLean W. McLean, gives the evidence, calling it 'putative', and explains that it is not conclusive proof. It is mostly based on the use of the same names in both families and interconnection of Howland and Perry family marriages. LDS proxy temple ordinances are in the 1997 IGI from temple records.

The article in 'NEHGR' vol. 81 gave marriage and death but no birth. It didn't cite proof that she was the daughter of Timothy but the will of her husband shows they named children Timothy and Mary. LDS proxy temple ordinances are in the 1997 IGI from temple records.

!Birth, marriages and death from NEHGR 81:89. See notes of father. LDS proxy temple ordinances are in the IGI from temple records. According to the NEHGR article he was found dead in the highway, frozen in snow drifts after a fierce storm, about a mile and a half from Middleborough Four Corners and about 3/4 mile from his home. Although suspicions of foul play were entertained, they were subsequently abandoned. It said he died 's.p.', meaning no children, and his estate was divided amongst his wife, mother, brothers and sisters.

The Willis family of Sudbury connects John Willis, above, to a brother Nathaniel Willis and states that there were three other brothers that came to New England but at the time of article it appeared
that those three had no issue.
John Willis bought land in Duxbury from Abraham Blush 26 Nov 1638, 8 pounds 10 s sterling. Abraham Blush bought land which contained a dwelling house and 20 acres from Richard Moore 1 Nov 1637 called Eagle's Nest for 21 pounds. He sold the easterly half to John Willis with no mention of a house. John Willis sold his estate in Duxbury 1657 to William Paybody.

!Living in Corvallis, Benton Co, OR in 1880 Census.
Occupation: Carpenter & County Clerk
Source: Richard Gould - Came to Oregon in 1850...
Fagan, David, History of Benton County, Oregon
WILSON, Bushrod W.--this most popular resident and pioneer of Benton county, was born in Columbia, Washington county, Maine, 18 July 1824, but in 1830, his parents moving to New Brunswick, Middlesex county, New Jersey, he accompanied them thither, to once more move, in 1833, to New York City, where our subject dwelt until June 1840.
At this period the family transferred their habitation to Kane county, Illinois, but at the end of a 2 years residence there, Mr. WILSON determined to face the world on his own account. Choosing a sea-faring life he passed the first three years in the North West seas and the coast of ALaska, and altogether was among those "who go down to the sea in ships" for the space of 8 years.
In the meantime gold fields had been discovered in California, and to them Mr. WILSON started in 1849, via Cape Horn, landing in San Francisco, 3 July 1850. After a season passed in the mines in October, he came to Oregon, first landing from the brig "Reindeer", at the mouth of the Umpqua river. In the following month he found his way to the Willamette valley, took up a claim 7 miles southwest from where the city of Corvallis now stands, being now owned by Messrs. HENKLE and ARMSTRONG, and engaged in carpentering and contracting, occupations he followed until 1857, when he took up a domicile in Corvallis.
Our subject now embarked in the trade of carpenter both at home and abroad, and was the first to put a ferry boat on the Snake river, where since the town of Lewiston has grown. Upon his return to Corvallis he passed the first winter in running a keel boat between that point and Oregon City, on the Willamette; he subsequently engaged in the warehouse and pork packing business which he followed until June, 1864, when he was elected County Clerk of Benton county, and to which office he has ever since been re-elected, an honor that has never elsewhere been experienced by any individual of any political creed. Mr. WILSON has been also actively interested in the railroad to Yaquina Bay, having held the positions of president as well as secretary, while he is also one of the original incorporators of the line.
Mr. WILSON has ever identified himself with the welfare of the city of Corvallis; has from time to time served her in a civic capacity; while he has always strenuously maintained a strong and willing fight in the cause of education. As long ago as 1853 he was the County Superintendent of Common Schools; indeed, in whatever walk of life Bush WILSON has trod he has left a fame that should be an example to those that follow after. No more able adviser, courteous official, genial acquaintance, or thorough friend lives than the subject of this sketch. Mr. WILSON is married and has nine children.
