General Notes: Husband - Alexander McCausland
"Alexander MacCausland was one of those who by serving in the Army in Ireland before 1649, became entitled to a share of the forfeited and debenture lands under the scheme of division published at Michaelmas 1653. Bonds, or debentures-at first called debenturs from the world with which the bond began-'were the means adopted by the Government of the Commonwealth to acknowledge its indebtedness for arrears of pay to the officers and soldiers who had been engaged in putting down that Irish Rebellion which commenced in 1641 and continued until 1652. These debentures they were to hold until the forfeited lands could be distributed to them in lots, proportioned to the sum in each case due.' The Montgomery MSS., p. 208, note. Croslegh, n. 7, p. 233.
Served in the army under Charles I in Ireland before the year 1649, as appears by the auditor- general's accounts of the period, wherein the said Alexander is stated to be entitled to a share of the forfeited and debenture lands, and to a share of money as one of the adventurers and soldiers before the rebellion of 1641. He settled in the county of Tyrone, and was at his death possessed of the manors Ardstrath, Mountfield, and others. Of Resh and Ardstraw.
Had an interest in several houses in the city of Cork that were the subject of litigation in a bill in Chancery, PRONI Names Index Reference T581/1 page 360, in the matter titled "McCausland v. Gamble" dated 21 Apr 1673. The interest in the houses apparently arose from his military service as one of the "49 offices".

Eldest son, inherited Strabane, Co. Tyrone from his father. No less than twelve times returned to the Irish parliament by the borough of Strabane. In the parliament of 1695 he is entered on the Rolls as "Oliverius Mac Causland, Armiger" and served the office of sheriff for the county of Tyrone in 1687. He appears likewise to have held some military commission, as we find it stated, under "Castlestewart," in Lodge's Peerage of Ireland, that he had been employed upon a mission of importance by Lord Mountjoy and Colonel Lundy.
He was invited by a letter dated 6 Dec 171? to return to Scotland and become Chief of the Clan in Kinbryd, Co. Aryshire (PRONI D1124 and T609).
The following is from Page 106 "Fighters Of Derry" by William Robert Young. London, Eyre & Spottiswoode, 1932
283. Capt. Oliver McCausland, of Strabane, defender. In the list of attainted in James' Dublin Parliament there arc two of this name, viz. Oliver McCausland of Rash, Co. Tyrone, probably the Oliver above, and
284. Andrew McCausland, of Clanaghmore, Co. Tyrone, who was probably, if not an ancestor, closely related to Col. Robert McCausland, of Fruit Hill (Drenagh), the first of the family living there (he died in 1734), who had property near Cappagh, Co. Tyrone. This Robert McCausland was befriended by the Pt. Hon. William Conolly, of Castletown and Limavady, and acquired considerable estate in Co. Deny; hence the Christian name of Conolly borne in subsequent generations of the McCausland family.
The only mention of the name in connection with the siege is Mackenzie's statement that when Lord Mountjoy, as Tyrconnell's representative, was on his way to the city, after the shutting of the gates, to open negotiations for surrender or making of terms, Capt. Oliver McCausland, of Strabane, was employed as a messenger to warn the Corporation of his approach, but (as Graham in his " Ireland Preserved" notes) "although he carried the message, he did not regret that the answer was 'No Surrender,'" and that he served under the command of Col. Mitchelburn at the siege of Derry. In his will, Capt. Oliver McCausland refers to Col. Robert, of Fruit Hill, as cousin while appointing him an executor and legatee.

John's father died when John was about age 18. A minor over 14, he petitioned the court to appoint William Patten of Columbia as his guardian on 8 Jun 1803 [WCPR, 3:135].
John was one of the early settlers of the Marshville section of Harrington (there by 1810). He lived at Hardwood Point on the east side of the Harrington river.
John's second marriage to Dorcas Fernald Willey is given in the docket book of Joseph Adams of Cherryfield ME. Marriage intentions were filed there on both 13 Nov 1819 and 29 Jan 1820 (??).
John's third marriage to Mary Nash Libby was in 1832 when he was age 48 and she was age 16. He died just four years later leaving Mary, then age 20, with children from previous marriages and with two by Mary. Mary petitioned the probate court for rights of administration of John's estate for which she posted a $3,000 bond. The petition gave John's date of death and was granted on 7 Feb 1837 [WCPR 9:168]. Mary apparently was unable to sign her name as all probate records contain her mark. On 4 Apr 1837, Mary again petitioned the probate court for license to sell the personal estate of John Hall at public auction which was approved [WCPR 9:185].

Richardson, by J. A. Vinton, 1876, pg 230:
DAVID RICHARDSON, son of David andRemember Richardson; born in Newton,
Feb. 24, 1732; m., first, Feb. 13, 1755, Mary Hall, born March 7, 1734,
dau. of Edward and Mary (Miller) Hall, of Newton. She d. 1775, aged 43.
Second, Sept. 20, 1778, Hannah Mills, born June3, 1748. She died June
10, 1809, aged 60.
He lived in Newton till about the time of his second marriage and then
removed to Pearsontown, now Standish, Me.
The following abstracts will be in point:
April 12, 1773. David Richard son, of Newton, Mass., yeoman for 160
pounds lawful money, bought of Reuben Freeman, of Pearsontown, Cumberland
County, and of Catharine Freeman his wife, two lots of land in said
Pearsontown [now Standish]; one lot contains forty acres, with a house
and barn thereon; bounded north-east on the road ninety-three and
two-thirds rods, then South-east on another road sixty rods. Witnessed by
Moses Richard and Aaron Richardson [his brothers]. [Cumb. Deeds, vii.
528.]
Feb. 13, 1778. David Richardson, of Pearsontown, bought of John
Thompson, of said place, one hundred acres of land at Ossipee, in the
county of York. [York Deeds, lvi. 34.]
Dec. 4, 1787. David Richardson, of Standish, Cumberland County, yeoman,
sold to his son, David Richardson, of a place called Limington, between
the two Ossipees in the County of York, one hundred acres of land in said
Limington. [York Deeds, lvi. 35.]
He lived in Standish from 1778 till 1807, when he removed to Monmouth,
Me., where he died, May 27, 1825, aged 93.
At his death, his descendants were sixteen children, fifty-three
grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.
The last seven, i.e., all the children of the second wife, Hannah
Mills, were, at one time, rocked together in one cradle. Three pairs of
twins within three and a half years! The father of this numerous family
removed from Standish to Monmouth, the north side of that town, only one
farm intervening between his land and the town of Winthrop . The removal
took place March 28, 1807.

The History of Monmouth and Wales, Maine, by Harry H. Cochran, 1894, V1,
pg 413:
...David Richardson, who removed from Newton, Mass. toStandish, Me. in
1778, and thence in 1807 to Monmouth, where he died in 1825. He was
twice married, and at the time of his decease boasted eighty living
descendants. His second wife, the mother of Thomas and William, was
blessed with three pairs of twins within the space of three-and-one-half
years; and less that two years later her loneliness was relieved by the
birth of a seventh child.
That these children might be connected with an event worthy of
rehearsal to their posterity, the proud mother packed them together like
a boxof sardines and rocked them in one cradle. William was the
youngest of these seven children, and Thomas one of the second pair of
twins. Long after they came to Monmouth, the father of Thomas and
William used to gather his grandchildren about his knees in the light of
the blazing open fire-place and tellthem of this wonderful episode in
the life of their parents. And then the little ones snuggled closer to
their grandfather's side, and cast furtive glances into the dark corners
while they listened to the still more wonderful events which befell his
grandfather's wife and children. It seems that the old gentleman's
grandfather was a soldier in King Philip's war. On the afternoonof Apr.
10, 1676 "he was employed in casting dressing into his field, accompanied
by his son Samuel, a boy between five and six years old. Looking toward
his house, he was surprised at seeing feathers

Cause of Death:<CAUS> fever & ague
Richardson Mem. by J.A.Vinton, 1876, pg 282:
DAVID RICHARDSON, son of David and Mary (Hall) Richardson; born in
Newton, Mass., March 20, 1761; m. July 1, 1784, Sarah Wiley, born Sept.
10, 1762, dau. of James Wiley, of Andover, Mass.
In 1784, soon after marriage, he settledin Standish, Me., then called
Pearsontown*. He bought a one hundred acre lot in Standish, Oct. 27,
1787. [Cumb. Deeds, xv.538.]
*Such a statement made to me. But all his children were born in
Limington, the error is apparent.
In 1826, he visited his uncle, Ebenezer Richardson, in Western New
York, wherehe contracted fever and ague, of which he died, July 3, 1827,
aged 66 years 5 months. His wife died Nov. 11, 1826, aged 64 yrs, 2
months. [Gravestones).
General Notes: Child - Joseph Richardson
Richardson Mem. by J.A.Vinton, 1876, pg 282:
JOSEPH RICHARDSON, son of David and Mary (Hall) Richardson; born in
Newton, Mass., July 3, 1763; m. about 1782, Mary Carpenter, who was born
May 25, 1754. As she was accustomed, in old age, to relate many
incidents connected with Marblehead, it is supposed that she was born
there or in that vicinity.
He came from Newton to Standish, Me., with his father's family in 1778.
About 1785, he removed to Baldwin, Me., afew miles distant, then called
Flintstown. Of that place he was one of the first settlers. At that time,
Baldwin and the region around was almost unbroken wilderness, where the
wild animals of the forest held undisputed sway, and only the trails of
the red man conducted the infrequent traveler over the ground, along the
streams, and through the deep, dark woods. The young adventurer erected
his log cabin on the southerly slope of the Saddleback mountain, ina
rough, heavily wooded locality, though the soil was good. A few decaying
apple trees still mark the spot*
The earliest conveyance of land in Flintstown to Joseph Richardson,
that I have been able to find, is from Lewis Sabin, of Flintstown of
twenty acres, dated Sept. 22, 1789. [Cumb. Deeds, xxiii.14.]
He died in Baldwin, Feb. 21, 1836, aged 72 years, 7 months. His wife
Mary died there Sept. 23, 1846, aged 92. Her mother died in Baldwin at
the age of 96.
*Connected with the family of Joseph Richardson in some way--I have not
been able to learn how--was Eleazer Flint, one of the three men of that
name who settled in Baldwin, who were proprietors there, and from whom
that town and the adjoining town of Sebago, on Sebago Lake, received the
name of Flintstown. As Flint is a Reading name, they were probably from
Reading, Mass.

ELISHA RICHARDSON, son of David and Mary (Hall) Richardson; born in
Newton, Mass., March 21, 1766; m. DorothyFrost. She died April, 1837.
He went with his father in 1778 to Standish, but removed to Limington,
Me., in 1838 and afterwards we find him in Falmouth, Me., and again in
Limington.
In 1838, he bought of his son George F. Richardson, about thirty acres
