General Notes: Child - Col. Charles Turner Jr.
Born in Duxbury, Massachusetts, Turner received a common-school education at Duxbury and Scituate, Massachusetts. He was commissioned an adjutant in the Massachusetts State Militia in 1787. He was promoted to major in 1790, and held the rank of lieutenant colonel commandant 1798-1812. He was appointed first postmaster of Scituate, Massachusetts, in 1800. He was in the Justice of the Peace. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1803 and 1805-1808. He successfully contested as a Democratic-Republican the election of William Baylies to the Eleventh Congress. He was reelected to the Twelfth Congress and served from June 28, 1809, to March 3, 1813. He served as chairman of the Committee on Accounts (Twelfth Congress). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Thirteenth Congress. He served in the State senate in 1816. He was again a member of the State house of representatives in 1817, 1819, and 1823. He was appointed steward of the Marine Hospital at Chelsea, Massachusetts. He served as delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1820. He engaged in agricultural pursuits. He died in Scituate, Massachusetts, May 16, 1839. He was interred in the burial ground of the First Parish of Norwell (formerly Scituate). He wrote about his climb of Katahdin: On Monday, August 13th, 1804, at 8 o'clock A.M. we left our canoes at the head of boat waters, in a small clear stream of spring water, which came in different rivulets from the mountain, the principal of which (as we afterwards found)issued from a large gully near the top of the mountain. At 5 o'clock, P. M we reached the summit of the mountain. Katahdin is the southernmost and highest of a collection of eight or ten mountains, extending from it north east and north west.

Wallace Joseph Wightman 1916 ~ 2006 Wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away April 29, 2006 at Brighton Gardens in Salt Lake City. Born October 8, 1916 in Silver City, Utah to Wayland Rodger Wightman and Abbie Wood and spent most of his boyhood years in Payson, Utah. Wallace served an LDS mission in the Central Eastern States and graduated from Utah Agricultural College (USU). He was commissioned an officer in the US Navy during World War II. Wallace married his sweetheart, Alaine Randall November 30, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. Upon his return from the war, the young couple settled in California to raise their family. He was employed at Chevron Research as an engineer for 30 years, owned, managed and maintained rental properties, built new homes, landscaped, creatively repaired anything and everything, and became a licensed real estate broker. Traveling to World Fairs across the nation, Route 66, the Pan American Highway to Panama, Alaska and every national park along the way brought his family many stories to tell. He faithfully served as a Bishop, High Priest Group Leader, Scout Master and Home Teacher. After retirement, Wallace and Alaine served as Oakland Temple workers, a mission in Pittsburg, PA and a mission in the Family History Library (Salt Lake City). Wallace is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years and children: Cheryl Linn Severson, Fremont, CA; Raniece Grover, Rexburg, ID; Navieve Dean, Sandy, UT; Laurina McCann, Cedar Hills, UT; Leeman Wallace, S. Lake Tahoe, CA; Balaine Wayland, Danville, CA; 26 grandchildren and 26 great-grand-children. All were the light of his life! Wally made life "Jolly Good" for everyone! A viewing will be held Friday, May 5, 2006 from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Salt Lake Stake Center located at 142 W. 200 N., followed by services at Noon. Interment, Payson City Cemetery.

Frank Randall was reared in St. Peter, Minn., and after acquiring his early education in its public schools he entered St. John's College, of Prairie du Chien, Wis. He followed farming from the age of eighteen until twenty-three, after which he engaged in teaching school for some years. At length he determined to enter the legal profession, and in 1875 began reading law with G. S. Ives, of St. Peter. In 1880 he was admitted to the Bar, and immediately opened an office at Tracy, Minn.< where he continued practice for a year. The succeeding five years were passed in New Ulm, where he did a good business, and in 1885 became to Winona, and formed a partnership with Mr. Tawney, the connection continuing for five years. In 1893 he was joined by his brother, Richard A., and they now do business under the firm name of Randall & Randall.
On the 3d of May, 1886, was celebrated the marriage of Frank Randall and Miss Winona E. Pierce, daughter of Z. B. and Mary E. (Ross) Pierce. Three children have been born to them: Hortense, Cotter and Mary. Mr. Randall is a member of the Catholic Church, and in politics is a Democrat. In November, 1892, he was elected to the office of County Attorney, which position he is now filling in a creditable and acceptable manner. At the early age of twenty years he was appointed County Superintendent of Schools of Nicollet County, and was elected to that office in 1877. He has taken an active interest in educational affairs, aided in building the large school in Tracy, and was a member of the board when the New Ulm school was built. The best interests of the community ever find in him a friend, and the county finds in him a valued citizen and worthy official. At the Bar his ability is also recognized.

He served three years as a soldier in the Revolutionary war. He was ordained in Connecticut in 1907, and preached there for several yers. In 1812 he came to Norwich, where he stayed only a few weeks. He found a number of Baptists, but no church organization. At their urgent solicitation he returned and organized a church, of which he remained the pastor until the time of his death. He was also a prominent as a man of affairs, and was the owner of a valuable farm in the outskirts of the village, now cut up into building lots.
