Early research shows three sons: David, Jeremiah II and Thomas?? Have n ot been able to find anything to substantiate Thomas.
The following is the history as we know it: The Enman clan dates to the ea rly days in North American History. They emigrated to North America from t he British Isles. Scottish history records such names as Enman as far ba ck as Douglass or as Dhu Glas, which was the Gaelic for its present name a nd as a literal translation means "dark man." They followed and fought wi th Douglass, later taking up with the cause in Ireland with some settli ng there in North Ireland and later coming to both the United States and C anada.
Taken from the notes of Augusta Enman of Maine, USA. During the religio us persecutions in England, our forefathers fled to Holland. There they se ttled and married into the Dutch. After some years one man at least emigra ted to America. During the Revolutionary War, he took sides with the Ki ng and after the war, his two sons came to Canada and were given gran ts of land on Prince Edward Island. As far as we know their names were Tho mas and Jeremiah and we are descendants of Tom. We are not sure what pa rt of America they lived in prior to coming to Canada, but if they came wi th the Dutch it was probably New York, USA. This comes from a letter fr om Annie Bryant, Ellerslie-Bideford, Prince, Prince Edward Island, Cana da It was told to her by her father Theophilus, as told by her father, The ophilus, brother of Daniel. Daniel and Theophilus were the sons of David E nman and Abigail Wood. Among the many notable families of Dutch or Germ an origin who forsook the American Colonies after the Revolutionary War a nd settled in adjoining British possessions were the Enman family of Vern on River. Family tradition is that the first Enman ancestor in America set tled in New York State, USA, prior to the Revolutionary War. His name w as Jeremiah and he paid for his loyalty to the King with his life. One sto ry tells us that his wife Margaret Benoit of New York, USA, hid her two li ttle boys in a hollow tree to escape the British soldiers. She later ca me to Prince Edward Island, Canada with her two sons, Jeremiah II and Thom as, and settled on the South Bank of the Vernon River. By 1803, they we re well established for Lord Selkirk, in September of that year, writing f rom Charlottetown to Dr. Angus McCauley, his agent in Belfast, Queens, Pri nce Edward Island, Canada instructed him to buy barley from MacMillan a nd MacFee as well as any that is at Praught's, Eman's, and Fraser's.
The deed to Jeremiah Enman's farm dated 1810, is from Sarah Ernsley.
Jeremiah married Margaret Fraser and they lived and they died in Vernon
River, PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND
The son, Thomas, from whom we are descended. moved to the Pownal area.
bought a farm, married and raised a family, most of whom moved to the Egmo nt Bay area about 1859 where many descendants were still living in 195 4. A few years after settling in Vernon River, Widow Enman married her nei ghbor, James Laird, a Loyalist from Carolina, who arrived on the Island ab out 1787 and settled in Vernon River in 1795. Lord Selkirk visited h im in August, 1803 and records in his diary that, "Laird began her quite b are, eight years ago, has now fifty acres cleared" and that "he is certain ly very much above the common run of settlers. "

On 7 November 1698, Isaac Benson "of Rochester" purchased 20 acres of la nd from his brother, John. This was four months before his marriage to Ma ry. He sold his land in Rochester in 1707 and purchased a 20 acre lot a nd a 60 acre lot in Plympton, "being not yet laid out', from his brother-i n-law, John Hunt. On 13 November 1716, "Isaac Benson of Plympton, husband man" sold "as my homestead in Plimpton, about 66 acres and piece of swa mp or meadow in Plimpton of 22 acres which he purchased from John Hun t, to his brother, Benjamin Benson.

He sold his land in Rochester in 1707 and purchased a 20 acre lot a nd a 60 acre lot in Plympton, "being not yet laid out', from his brother-i n-law, John Hunt. On 13 November 1716, "Isaac Benson of Plympton, husband man" sold "as my homestead in Plimpton, about 66 acres and piece of swa mp or meadow in Plimpton of 22 acres which he purchased from John Hun t, to his brother, Benjamin Benson.

Obit states Frank A. Dame died at his home, 20 North Spring St., Concord, NH at the age of 44 years, 6 months and 12 days. He was survived by his widow, three sons, one brother and one sister. Mr. Dame was born at North Reading, MASS, Oct 8, 1860 and came to Concord in 1896 and went into the undertaking business being one of the firm of Kendall & Dame. He was president of the New Hampshire Embalmers' Assoc. and was widely known throughout the state for his interest in promoting his profession.

I am beginning to research my background and there were some similarities between what I know and what has been posted here. Maybe there is a link. My father is Lloyd Dame, Jr. who was born and raised in Reading, MA. He was the only child of Lloyd Sr. and Hazel (Marston). Lloyd Sr. worked for the Boston and Maine Railroad for 40+ years. He was the son of John Dame (married to a Benton but not sure of her first name) and he had 3 brothers Edward, Harold and James. John Dame was a mortician in Concord, NH around 1900. Does any of this seem to connect based on your research?
