The best way for me to describe the relationship, is for
example if you have 6,000 people in your data base
that are connected via interlocking marriges, and
you find that you have a marriage that is interlocked into
one of my people in my data base, then they are related
via interlocking marriages, does not matter how distant.
The difference here is that the interlocking into my data
base would link to over 724,091 people via interlocking
marriages.
My hobby is working on interlocking marriages,to any
family surname that is in my data, and I exchange with
people to find them, and to assist them in finding lineage
that link into their families.

Thomas families of Plymouth Country Mass. by John Marshall Raymond
1980
David Thomas is thought to have been born in Wales about 1620. He prob came to American abut 1640-1 in the" Sampson". It certainly is a fact that at a session of the Quarterly Courts in Salem on 8 July 1645 "David Thomas" was awitness in a suit for defamation of character brought by John Bartoll against Alice, wife of John Peach jr., for having said that the plaintiff's wife, Parnell Bartoll, had "committed adultery with the boatswain of the ship Sampson in the cabin of Parnell about four years ago." This is the first record of David Thomas in America.
He lived in that part of Salem which was about to become the Town of Marblehead.
David left Mablehead prob early in 1661, and removed to that part of Salem which later became Beverly. Two known maps showing the location of the Salem property of David Thomas agree that David had Lot 16, which seems to have had no house on it while David owned it.
It is significant that his wife Joanna executed her consent to the sale of the Beverly property by an instrument dated in Plymouth 14 Jul 1669. (essex Deeds, bnk.3,pp.57,189). It seems this must have been the year David moved toMiddleboro. The birth of his son Edward on 6 |Feb 1669 is the first entry in the Town Records of Middleboro, even though that entry may have been made at a later date, since the Town Records are said to have been destroyed by the Indians in King Rhilip's War in 1675.
David was a farmer of Middleboro and his was one of the 16 families that constituted the Town in 1675. In that year whern the Indians attacked Middlehboro the inhabitants had to flee to Plymouth. After the war they returned, and 28 Jun 1677 those who had owned land there, numbering 68 persons, met and agreed to re-settle the town.
David's house in Middleboro was a little distance southeast of the town proper, at the end of what is now Thomas St., in an area that became known as Thomastown.

Jeremiah Southworth Thomas born 1659, took oath as freeman in 1688. At a town meeting in 1718, he was voted to act as an agent to go to Freetown, Mass. and "treat" with Mr. Craghead, the scholar, to procure said scholar to come on six weeks' trial as schoolmaster.
Source: Thomas Families of Plymouth County Mass. by John Marshall Raymond, 1980.
Several authorities say Jeremiah was s. Nathaniel, not of David. Later authorities either do not give Jeremiah to Nathaniel or give him to David. Jeremiah was of Midd., which is replete with records of him and his family, but no record of any kind of Jeremiah is found in Marsh. However, all doubts on the point are resolved by the probate proceedings of the estate of David. (Plmth Co. Probate #20274} They are quoted in Holman and in Trans. 7 Apr 1930 #9729, and are abstracted in Gen. Adv., v.1,;.73. They recite under date of 3 Oct 1689 that "Joanna Thomas Relict widdow, of David Thomas late of middlebury deceased", with "David Thomas Jerimiah Thomas, her sons" as sureties, was appointed to administer on the estate of her deceased husband above-names." Jeremiah is thus shown to have been the son of David and Joanna.
An incident about the tombstones of the two wives of Jeremiah is perhaps of interest. At the beginning a short article in 12 MD 66 is a photograph of the tombstones of Jeremiah's two wives, Lydia who d. 1717 and Mary who d.1749, with his own stone between them. He d. 1736. At the bottom of Lydia's stone is the following inscription: "She was ye first buried in this place." The article points out, what is evident in the photograph, that "May's stone bears the same inscription....{the stones} are the same size and have the same ornamentation." The article deduces that prob "the stone cutter was directed to make a duplicate of the first wife's stone, ecept as to name, date and age, and followed his instructions to literally".

PORTRAIT AND BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD OF ARIZONA (1901), p. 247-248:
L. E. WIGHTMAN, M.D.
"The professional career of Dr. Wightman has centered in Pima and throughout the entire Gila valley, his practice naturally assuming, with the lapse of time, large and constantly increasing proportions. A most capable practitioner, and one in touch with the best methods employed by the followers of Aesculapius in the largest and most advanced centers of the world, he is not wanting in the appreciation which stimulates the best endeavor, nor in that skill in treatment and diagnosis which inspires the utmost confidence in the community.
At Payson, Utah, where he was born May 7, 1869, Dr. Wightman received a portion of his education, attending Iliff Academy and the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, later graduating from the Northwestern University, Chicago, in the class of 1894. His parents were W. C. and Lucretia J. (Pepper) Wightman, the former born in New York, and the latter in Quincy, Ill. After graduation Dr. Wightman immediately availed himself of the promise and possibility of the Gila valley, and although having his headquarters from the first in Pima, he for a year had charge of the county hospital at Solomonville, and at the same time worked up a practice through the valley. In 1896 he started, in partnership with a brother, H. P., the pioneer and only drug store in Pima, and which up to the present time has been one of the sound commercial enterprises of the town. In 1900 the doctor withdrew his drug interests and the concern has since been under control of the younger Wightman, who the following year erected the substantial brick store and completed a stock which has not equal in the valley.
As an evidence of his abiding faith in prospects by which he is surrounded Dr. Wightman purchased an adobe house which, upon being remodeled and covered with wood, is an exceedingly pretty and comfortable abode, and where gracious hospitality is unstintingly dispensed. The office is located in the residence, and is in every way suited to the practice of a progressive and up-to-date ameliorator of physical woes. An X-ray machine and electrical and compressed-air appliances are among the modern and late devices of a scientific nature which aid in the search for, and suppression of, anatomical disorder, and which facilitate the arduous duties incident to a practice which extends from Safford to Geronimo. He is now making a specialty of electro-therapeutics in his practice.
In 1895 Dr. Wightman married Janie Weech, and of this union there are two children, William Dewey and an infant daughter, Marval. Mrs. Wightman is a daughter of Hiram and Sarah Weech, of Pima. Dr. Wightman has been prominent in many ways not connected with his profession. In politics a Republican, he was elected mayor of Pima in 1898, and has been in the council for two years. In addition he is examining physician for the Mutual Life Insurance Company, the Equitable Life, and the New York Life, and surgeon for the Gila Valley, Globe & Northern Railroad."

His sons Jabez and George were the executers.
