Millinocket - Gertrude Morneault, 95, wife of the late Theodule Morneault, died Friday, November 23, 2007 at a Millinocket hospital. She was born April 30, 1912 in St. Hilaire, New Brunswick, the daughter of Alcime and Elizabeth (Soucy) Saucier. Gertrude is survived by four children, Maurice Morneault and his wife Elaine of Millinocket, Remi Morneault and his wife Rita of Hampden, Marie Foster of Millinocket, and Armand Morneault of Rockville, Connecticut; a brother, Adrian Saucier of Mexico, New York; a sister, Leone Barry of Pompano Beach, Florida; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Gertrude was predeceased by a daughter, Lucille Perry, a son in law, Robert I. Foster, five brothers and two sisters. Friends are invited to visit with the family 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by her grandson, Rev. Dominic Foster, T.O.R., 11 A.M. Monday, November 26 at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 112 Maine Avenue, Millinocket. Interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Gertrude may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.

I have noted on some mailing lists mention of the given name of
Benoni. This is an unusual name, and some people think that it is an
Italian family name and the child is named after his or her mother’s
family and then indicate that they have been unable to find a family
with that surname.
Actually Benoni is a Biblical name that means "son of my sorrow."
It was the original name given to the younger son of the patriarch
Jacob. Rachel, his mother, in her dying agony named the child Benoni.
(Genesis 35:18).
This name was often given in American Colonial times to a child whose
mother died in childbirth or whose father died before the child was
born. In fact, this is an important clue. When one sees the name Benoni,
look to see what sad event might have caused the child to be given that
name. It might have been the death of a grandparent, a parent or a
sibling.

Elle laisse dans le deuil son fils : Marc (Lynne Bélanger), de Saint-Hilaire; sa fille : Lucie Bouchard (Pierre Bisson), de Scott, Québec; ses frères : Gilles (Gaëtane), de Sept-Îles, Québec, et Antoinne (Hélène), de Lac-Baker; ses soeurs : Colette Lajoie, de Montréal; Jacqueline Hudon, de Port-Cartier, Québec, et Françoise Thériault, d’Edmundston, de même qu’une petite-fille, Vicky.
Ses funérailles ont eu lieu le mardi 8 avril, à 16 heures, en l’église de Baker-Brook, et l’inhumation au cimetière paroissial. Le père Whalen Bossé présidait aux cérémonies.
La lecture fut effectuée par Annie Soucy et les intentions de prièresont été lues par Charles Bouchard.
Les cartes ont été distribuées par Lise Bouchard et Josée Lagacé et la quête a été faite par Bob Thériault et Jean-Guy Ouellette.
En sa mémoire, des dons peuvent être faits à la Société canadienne ducancer.
La direction des funérailles a été confiée à la maison funéraire J.B.Côté et Fils ltée.
