MEDWAY - Margaret "Irene" Stanley passed away peacefully Feb. 25, 2011, at Orono Commons, Orono. She was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Baltimore, the daughter of Allen Harvey Sorenson and Margaret (Haynie) Simmons. After graduating from South Baltimore High School, she went on to work for Liberty Mutual, Baltimore. Later she worked as a civilian worker at Fort Meade Army Base in Maryland, where she met her late husband. They were married June 25, 1954, in Baltimore. They moved to Medway and stayed at the Stanley farm on Turnpike Road, Medway, until their current home was built in 1955-1956. She raised her children and worked throughout the years as a mail carrier in Medway and as a secretary for the town of Medway for a short time. She spent countless hours preparing and coordinating activities for the town of Medway's Centennial Celebration in 1976. Prior to her stroke in 1988, she spent many years as a seamstress, making wedding and bridal party gowns, dance competition outfits and general sewing for many in the area. She spent many summers at their camp on Schoodic Lake, Brownville, going when the snow left and leaving when the snow returned. She enjoyed having her grandchildren there, teaching them to swim and just spending time with them. While there she read hundreds of books, and knitted and crocheted special baby items for expecting family members. She bowled on several leagues at the Millinocket bowling alley and achieved many trophies and awards for her accomplishments. She loved her family and was very proud of each and every one. She is survived by her children, Eugene "Bud" Stanley Jr. and his wife, Sandra, and Barbara Tompkins and her husband, Mike, of Medway, and their children, Brydon Stanley and wife, Angela, of South Portland, Amanda Stanley of Gorham, and Benjamin Gagnon and his companion, Lisa Chaloux, of Medway and his three children, Camden, Blake and Averie Marie of Enfield; stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren, Mike, Amy and Makala Jipson, Chad, Rose, CJ, Riley and Carrie Hersom of Prentiss, Kathy Tompkins and fiance, David Wills, of Medway, Randy, Shari, Zachary and Sara Chaloux of Hodgdon, Wayne Allen of Charleston, Kristen, Cheyanne and Kelsey Allen of Houlton, Michelle Jacobs and Gib Chaloux of East Millinocket, Amanda and Nick Crane of Hodgdon, Mickey and Rachel, Dakota, Miriah, Lukas, Merle and Nehemiah Tompkins of Lincoln, Holly, Bryant, Logan and Landon Markie of Smyrna, Chad, Jen, Macie, Amber and Zachary Pelkey of Ashland, Joe, Carol, Joe and Lucas Qualey of Dexter. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene "Gene" Stanley Sr.; her parents; her stepfather, James Simmons; and a stepsister,

General Notes: Husband - Pilgrim John Howard
Note: John came from England to Duxbury, Massachusetts at age 15.
John Howard, with his brother James, came from England and settled in Duxbury; he was among those able to bear arms there in 1643. James, it is said, went to Bermuda, and John came to W. B., and was one of the proprietors and original settlers in the town in 1651; was young when he came over, and it is said, lived in Capt. Miles Standish's family; was a man of much influence in the new plantation; one of the first military officers in Bridgewater; took the oath of fidelity here 1657; his descendants still own and live on the place where he first settled; he always wrote his name Haward, and so did all his descendants till after 1700, and the early town records are conformable to this spelling; but for the last century it has been invariably written Howard. It is remarkable that the two names of Hayward and Haward, which have always been known as distinct families, were uniformly pronounced alike, Howard. They were perhaps the same originally, and both Hayward; but, in writing, John omitted the Y. There was supposed to have been some connection between the families, but perhaps it arose altogether from intermarriage, as John m. Martha ,D. of Thos. Hayward, and was a younger man even that Thomas Hayward, Jr.--He d. about 1700.--He had John, James, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Sarah, Bethiah, Ephraim.--Elizabeth m. Edward Fobes.--Sarah m. Zaccheus Packard.--Bethiah m. Henry Kingman.--He was licensed to keep an Ordinary or Tavern as early as 1670, and it is remarkable that a public house has been kept there by his descendants ever since till within a few years.

I exchange data with people who have a interlocking marriage
into any surnames that interlocks into any of the branches
of my families.I started when I was 10 years old now 68years.
I am sharing my data in the interest of collaborative research.
I do this to help people to find there lineages and to fill
the pedigree charts.
I have not personally researched all families listed; dates
and information are subject to verification. Not responsible
for typographical errors misplaced citations. Missing
sources/references are because of my learning curve, not my
intention. You are encouraged to seek further documention
for your own confirmation.Further I have no control what
other people include about their families in any of the
data that they exchange.
If there are no dates about the living, then the computers
can not determine if the person is alive or deceased.
The sites set the living anywhere from 75 to 100 years
depending on the laws of the countries that they are in.
When I exchange with lineages the living are sometime shown
depending on who you are exchanging with, but my
request is that,if you update any of my data to the
internet, you also set the do not show the living, before
you update to the internet.
Also place in the source your contact email
address, and the lineage, so people can contact you
reqarding your update.
I have no claim to owning the data, except that which is
my immediate lineage, and even that is worked on by many
members of my family lineages. It is only as good as what
people put into it,that exchange with me. So look
in the notes of the genealogy for origin, if they put it
there,or the source.
If you are going to correct, update or put new branches on the
lineage your are inquirying about, please do not add from what
I have sent you,(This just duplicates how many more people
I have to find in the duplicates and merge them, edit your
notes to ensure that there is nothing there that you do not
want published.
Also do not submit information on copyrights that invades the
privacy of others especially for a relative that has not given
you permission to publish same.
Remember nothing is carved in stone except time.
The best way for me to describe the relationship, is for
example if you have 6,000 people in your data base
that are connected via interlocking marriages, and
you find that you have a marriage that is interlocked into
one of my people in my data base, then they are related
via interlocking marriages, does not matter how distant.
The difference here is that the interlocking into my data
base would link to over 631,749 people via interlocking
marriages.
My hobby is working on interlocking marriages,to any
family surname that is in my data, and I exchange with
people to find them, and to assist them in finding lineage
that link into their families.
