He threw off alliegience to Trebizond, abandoned Byzantine titles, extinguished the independence of Kakheti in 1105 and unified all Georgia from the Black Sea to the foothills of Daghestan. Expelled the Turks from Somkheti in 1110, Tao and Klarjeti in 1116 and conquered Shirvan in 1117, Ispir and Ani in 1124. He was the first of his line to be styled "by the will of our Lord". Rev. Witham Dies at Verona Home - 1947
Re. A.C. Witham, 63, well-known retired EUB clergyman, expired at his home in Verona, at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning. Although in declining health for two years, his condition became critical only a week ago.
Funeral rites will be held at the Verona EUB church at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon and will be in charge of REv. J.L. Armstrong, the pastor. Burial will be in the Verona Cemetery.
Survivors are the widow Hermia, three daughters, Mrs. Gerald Morris of Verona, Mrs. Omar Royalty of Danville, IL, and Mrs. R.L. Davis of Winnetka, IL, and six grandchildren. The daughters are all by a former marriage.
Rev. Witham, in the ministry for 25 years, served the Verona EUB church as paster from 1938 to 1942, retiring at the close of this pastorate.

She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Verona and the Eastern Star in Tipp City. Mrs. witham was preceded in death by her husbands, John Protzman and the Rev. A.C. Witham.
Surviving are one son, Robert Protzman of Tipp City; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and several neices and nephews in the Eaton area.
Funeral services were Aug. 27 at the Frings and Balliff Funeral Home, Tipp City, followed by burial in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris.

Recorded there is an interesting deed dated 19 July 1779 in which Richard Sleeper and Martha his wife of Kingston, "in consideration of an ear of corn if required of me in hand padid before the delivery hereof by Jonathan Fifield of Epping" conveyed land in Epping. General Notes: Husband - Colonel Huse
Served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He was drafted and mustered 17 July 1863, assigned to Co. E, erd Vermont Regiment. He was sent to Boston, remained about 9 weeks in consequence of poor eyesight, when he was sent back to Brattleboro with orders from Surgeon General Dale to be discharged. He remained about a month, and was ordered front by Dr. Phelps to report to Col. Seaver of the 3rd Regiment. He was detailed 29 Dec 1863 as teamster in 2nd Vermont Brigade, which duty he preformed until 3 Dec 1865, when he again joined his regiment and engaged with them in the closing battles of the war. He was chosen Corp. 27 June 1865, adn mustered out 11 Jul 1865. He was granted a pension for disability due to service in the field. It is not clear where he got the title 'Col' since it appears that he was only a Corporal in the war. (per Peter Fifield Wells website Generation six page 70 printed Jul 22, 1999)

General Notes: Husband - Colonel Huse
Served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He was drafted and mustered 17 July 1863, assigned to Co. E, erd Vermont Regiment. He was sent to Boston, remained about 9 weeks in consequence of poor eyesight, when he was sent back to Brattleboro with orders from Surgeon General Dale to be discharged. He remained about a month, and was ordered front by Dr. Phelps to report to Col. Seaver of the 3rd Regiment. He was detailed 29 Dec 1863 as teamster in 2nd Vermont Brigade, which duty he preformed until 3 Dec 1865, when he again joined his regiment and engaged with them in the closing battles of the war. He was chosen Corp. 27 June 1865, adn mustered out 11 Jul 1865. He was granted a pension for disability due to service in the field. It is not clear where he got the title 'Col' since it appears that he was only a Corporal in the war. (per Peter Fifield Wells website Generation six page 70 printed Jul 22, 1999)
