The History of Weare gives John, and says to see Merrill. Under Merrill there is no John Fifield, but rather a John Merrill, so John had changed his last name. It says that John married Sarah Merrill and lived on the homestead with his father-in-law. They had 1 child, Paige R. born July 3, 1840, who married John Folsom. Jonathan Fifield married 15 Jan (Libby says July) 1723, Hannah Waite prob. born 17 Jan 1682, daughter of Thomas and Susan (Ayres) of Ipswich. He died without surviving issue. He lived on the Hampton Falls property which he inherited from his father Benjamin. He was guardian of his nephew, Paul Sanborn.Libby says "much trusted with probate business by his relations and by bro-in-law Weare, Judge of Probate." His will was dated Jan 9, 1771 and proved April 30, 1777. By it he left his property, including the Fifield homestead to his " kinsman Jonathan Fifield, Esq. who now lives with me, he paying to my kinsman Jonathan Sanborn son of Paul Sanborn who formerly lived me 5 pounds lawful money."
Brown in his "History of Hampton Falls," gives George FIFIELD as his son, and receiving the FIFIELD estate on Jonathan's death. This theory is shown false by Jonathan's will. Jonathan Jr. nephew of Jonathan and son of Edward rec'd the property and passed it on after two years to George who was his son. Mr Brown in missing these two wills has confused the issue. In 1819 he was elected surveyor of lumber. He lived in 1800 in Sanbornton, Belknap, NH. Jonathan appears with brothers Joseph and Samuel on the inventory and tax lists for Sanbornton. Jonathan was credited with 1/2 acre (?) each of orchard and tillage, 1 1/2 of mowing, 3 of pasturing, 1 cow and 25 wild land. He lived in 1801 in Dorchester, Grafton, NH. Jonathan was inventoried and taxed in Dorchester from 1801 through 1821. For most of that time he was taxed on one cow. He lived at Hampton Falls for a while with his uncle Jonathan. He was the guardian of his sister Mary Eastman's son Ebezener and chief legatee of his uncle Jonathan, who died probably in 1777. He himself died two years later in 1779, having possessed the Fifield homestead at Hampton Falls for but two years and it passed on to his son George. In his will George left his estate to niece Mary Fifield, daughter of Clarissa, and Clarissa herself. Mary was under 18 years of age. There was a petition to re-examine probate of the will; under the re-examination it was determined that George was of legal age and competent when he wrote it. However probate records also show Joshua Janvrin being appointed guardian over him due to excessive drinking, idleness and other "vicious" habits. Ebezener attended Salisbury Academy, and graduated from Dartmouth in 1804. He read medicine with Dr. Nathan Smith of Hanover, then went to practice law with Daniel Webster in Boston. He removed to the vicinity of Bangor, ME but returned to Boston. In the War of 1812 he was a surgeon on the ship Oriole (?) which was captured by the French. He was a prisoner of war in France for 8 months, and came back to Boston in bad health. He taught at the academy in Alexandria, VA and in 1823 was principal of the Belmont school in Boston. Suel died age 75. He was a cabinet maker and a famous fifer in the state militia. His age is given as 56 in the 1850 census. The 1840 census indicates that he may have had a daughter. His headstone in Salisbury says that he died age 75 years 8 months. The spelling of his name is as he used it in his signature. He was also known as Samuel. The History of Weare gives John, and says to see Merrill. Under Merrill there is no John Fifield, but rather a John Merrill, so John had changed his last name. It says that John married Sarah Merrill and lived on the homestead with his father-in-law. They had 1 child, Paige R. born July 3, 1840, who married John Folsom. The 1820 census indicates one son and three daughters. All of his children appear to have left by 1830, indicating to me births as early as 1805. His death is recorded in NH vital records (assumed to be this Jacob because I know of no other born there about the proper time as was indicated on his death record).
The ages of Jacob and his wife appear to be incorrectly entered in the 1830 census for East Kingston, as they conflict with all other census age indications. The census record appears to have had the entries crossed out and changed. further indicating problems with the record.

Per the History of Salisbury, Joseph settleld in Hill, NH then removed west. The History of Bow says they had a large family. In 1850 he and his family appear in the Hill Census. The pension papers say that he lived in Hill in 1851, Danbury VT in 1855, and Lyons MN in 1880. He began military service on 20 Sep 1814 in Salisbury, Merrimack, NH; served in the War of 1812 in Call's Company, NH Militia. He ended military service on 20 Nov 1814 in Portsmouth, Rockingham, NH. He lived on 4 Apr 1855 in Danby, Rutland, VT. He was granted a military pension of eight dollars per month on 31 May 1880 in Chandler, Lyon MN.
