Wyman Genealogy, John Howard Wyman at http://www.wyman.org:
Moved to Clinton to farm the land Martha had bought with the help of
Francis. The farm is now in Benton and operated as a dairy farm by their
great grandson Edgar Wyman. When Zebedee died William inherited the farm
and Martha moved to Canaan to live with Jacob. Zebedee was illiterate
until taught to read and write by Martha. It is interesting to read their
deeds; the first ones were signed by Martha
alone, later ones by Martha with Zebedee's mark, than by Zebedee and
Marthaand finally by Zebedee alone. Descendants of Zebedee and Martha
have 3 direct lines to the immigrants Francis and John

Wyman Genealogy, John Howard Wyman at http://www.wyman.org:
Seth a woodsman farmer moved his family wherever he found work in
Maine; at Benton 1855, Etna 1858, Winslow 1860, Clinton 1863, Winslow ca
1868 and Mattawamkeag 1870, the last move obviously influenced by the
arrival of the European and North American RR, creating numerous
permanent jobs
for woodsmen and teamsters. The next two decades were relatively
prosperous. Maine Central RR acquired E & N A RR and shared tracks to
Vanceboro with Canadian Pacific who then built a main line from
Mattawamkeag via Brownville, Greenville and Jackman to Montreal, a direct
route from the Maritime Provinces.
In 1871 Exsah bought lot 121 on the east side of Webb Hill and
adjoining lot 101 in 1888. Seth built a house and barn on lot 101 and
farmed the property until his death. On 26 Sept 1894, Exsah sold the
homestead to Rose, second wife of Warren Wyman who farmed it until his
death. Exsah lived with her children or siblings, Lizzie Wyman at Benton
or James Thompson at Keyser, WV. In her last years her son Alfred located
her in a nursing home in Manchester New Hampshire.

EAST MILLINOCKET \endash Jean V. Osgood, 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at a Millinocket health care facility. She was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Millinocket, daughter of J. Harold and Grace M. (Taylor) Whitehead.
Jean grew up in Millinocket and was raised by her grandmother, Sarah Taylor, from the age of 3. She was a graduate of Stearns High School, class of 1948. Jean worked at Great Northern Paper Co., Millinocket, for six years as confidential secretary to the mill manager. During this time she became married to Dwight M. Osgood Jr. She took time off from her career to help raise their family, and returned to the workforce in 1967 after Dwight suffered a heart attack. Jean worked as a secretary in the guidance office at Schenck High School, East Millinocket, for 23 years. She had an open door policy to all students, which made it a popular place to hang out in their free time. Jean and her family did a lot of traveling around and camping whenever they could. After her husband died, she continued the camping tradition but made it a permanent summer spot in southern Maine for several years. She was completely devoted to her grandchildren and made them her focus in later years. Jean was active in Beta Semper Phi sorority for several years, and also served as secretary to the board of directors for East Millinocket Board of Public Housing.
Jean is survived by a daughter, Rebecca and her husband, Allen Leclerc; six grandchildren, Daniel Lewis, Nathan Lewis, Olivia Lewis, Sarah Rideout, Andrew Rideout and Timothy Rideout; two great-grandchildren, Kylie-Jo and Jace Lewis; two sisters, Rhoda Bouchard and Deanna Perrow; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and grandmother, Jean was predeceased by her husband; daughter, Laurie J. Osgood; grandson, Dwight Rideout; and two brothers, James and Ronald Whitehead.
