Almon Soule had a short, troubled life. His wife, Emmagene Woodbury died in 1898 after giving birth to daughter, Hazel Emily Soule. The 1900 census shows himliving as boader in Pittsfield ME. After that he joined the Army, was stationed in Havana, Cuba. he died under mysterious circumstances in hospital in Havana. See military records from Nat, Archives.

Eldest son of William, Sr. -- was born in England (probably Yorkshire
Co)., about May or June 1617. Emigrated to New England.
Came to Salem, Massachusetts with his father, (William, Sr. b. ca 1592 -d. June 30, 1672) in 1634. Went with him to Newbury about 1637; thence to Hampton, NH., in October 1638, where he married Mary Estow (?Eastow) about 1647. She was a daughter of Wm. Estow (?Eastow), Esq. Being past 21 years of age, it was probable that he had a grant of land from General Court, as did the other pioneers; then he bought land of John Sanborn, May 25, 1645, and leased a house and lot from Robert Knoght, which formerly belonged to Robert Marston, October 5, 1653 (see Deeds). The provincial records show that he was a capable and highly esteemed citizen , and was prominent in the town's business affairs, and in all matters appertaining to the interests of the community. He died testate, in Hampton, Sept 28, 1690, aged 73 years, and about 7 mo.(See his will) He had nine children.

WILL OF THOMAS MARSTON, SON OF WILLIAM SR.
1st. My will is that all my just and honest debts, and funeral expenses be paid.
2nd. I give and bequeath unto Mary, my loving wife, all my stock of cattle, of all sorts whatsoever, with all my household goods and movables, all to be at her disposing, only, my will is that she dispose of them amongst some of my children, as wisdom shall direct her.
3rd. I give unto Mary, my loving wife, my dwelling house, with the lot at home, with barn, out-houses, and my orchard, and half my piece of fresh meadow near John Clifford's, with half my piece of upland there. All during her natual life, and after her decease it is all, the said house and land, to be and remain to the sole and proper use of my son, Ephraim, and his heirs forever, provided he, or they shall pay such legacies as I shall order him, in this my last will; as also he or they shall take special care to be helpful to his mother, that she be maintained comfortably and honorably, with what I shall leave her, and ordered to be paid her. My will also is that Ephraim shall divide the meadow and up-land by John Clifford's and then my son John Marston to choose which part he will have.
4th. I give and bequeath unto my eldest son, Isaac Marston, all lands, meadow and marsh, for which he hath a deed of gift, although it be not acknowledged, I do confirm the said gift by this, my last will and testament; he the said Isaac, or his heirs, performing what they are engaged to his mother by a bill under his hand and seal.
5th. I give and bequeath unto my son John Marston, all the land, meadow and marsh ground, for the which he hath a deed under my hand and seal, though it be not acknowledged, I here confirm the said deed by this my last will, he or his heirs performing what he is engaged, by a bill under his hand and seal. I also give him half my piece of upland ground joining to my meadow by John Clifford's.
6th. I give and bequeath unto my son Ephraim Marston all the land, meadow and marsh ground, for which he hath a deed, under my hand and seal, though it be not acknowledged, I here confirm the said gift by this my last will, he or his heirs performing what he is engaged under his hand and seal.
7th. I give and bequeath unto my son James Marston, one-quarter part of my lot of upland, being over Northhill brook, and one-quarter part of my fresh meadow, lying toward the brook, as also one-half of a share of the cow-common of Hampton, besides what I have formerly given him.
8th. I give and bequeath unto my daughter, Sarah Low, wife of Simon Low, the sum of ten pounds to be paid to her by my son Ephriam Marston within one year after my wife's decease, in such pay as he is to pay her other bequests, and if it please God my daughter Sarah die before the time of payment, then the ten pounds shall be paid to those of her children that then shall be living.
9th. I give unto my two grand-children, John Sanborn and Mary Sanborn, five pounds apiece, to be paid to them by my son Ephraim Marston whithin two years after my wife's decease, in good merchantable pay, at a price following that which is worth 40 S. in money, to go at three pound, and so portionable, in case they be then 18 years of age; if not, then to be paid when 18 years old.
10th. I do make, constitute, and appoint Mary, my loving wife, to be my sole executrix to this my last will and testament, and in confirmation thereof, I the said Thomas Marston, have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal, this 17th day of January, in the year of our Lord Sixteen Hundred and Eighty-Six, and in the 2nd year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord, James the Second, by the grace of God, King of England, Scotland, Irland and France.

Was born in Hampton about the year 1647 and died during the year of 1714; during which year he deeded prior to his death land and buildings to his son Thomas. He was made Freeman April 26th, 1678 and was Selectman in 1681. His farm was on North Hill (now of North Hampton) and was as late as 1888 occupied by David Simon Marston who is one of the sixth generation of this name who have owned and lived on the property.
On the 19th day of April, 1697, nearing his fifthieth birthday, he married for the second time, Mrs. Jane (Brackett) Haines, widow of Matthias Haines, Sr. (no children were listed)

Third son (4th child)- of Thomas & Mary (Estow/Eastow) Marston, son of William Sr., was born in Hampton Aug 8, 1654, Old Style -- (one record shows 1658). He married Abial Sanborn, Feb 19, 1677, daughter of Lieut. John and Mary (Tuck) Sanborn, and settled in Hampton, NH on the homestead, which his father divised to him by will. He was a farmer and a brewer, and had an orchard with a variety of fruits, even at that very day. His malt-house was in the Meeting-house Green. His will and deeds prove that he was possessed of much real estate. He was one of the most distinguished citizens of the town; Was a representative to General Court for several years; was a Government Contractor, and took a prominent part in public affairs, for his name appears 22 times in the provincial public records. He deeded to each of his sons a farm, and settled them in life; and to Jeremiah, the homestead and brewery, and all pertaining thereto. He died from Cancer Oct 10, 1742 , aged 88 years, 2 months. His widow, Abial born Feb 25, 1653, died Jan. 3, 1743 , at age 90 years. There were 9 children.

Another illustrious descendant of William Marston, Sr., was General Gilman Marston, son of Jeremiah Marston, IV and Theda (Sawyer) Marston. He was born at Orford, New Hampshier August 20, 1811, graduate of Dartmouth College 1837, graduate Cambridge Law School 1840, Colonal of 2nd Regiment New Hampshire Volunteers in Civil War, promoted to Brigadier General for meritorious service, elected three times to Congress and 15 times to General Court or State Legislature and was prior to his decease one of the most distinguished lawyers of the New Hampshire bar. He was a direct descendant of Ephraim, son of Thomas, son of William Marston, Sr.

He brought with him from England his two sons Thomas and William. Thomas (1615-90) settled opposite the northeast corner of the Meetinghouse Green. This lot has remained in the family, being owned in 1892 by Jeremiah Marston. He married Mary, daughter of William Eastow. Their son Ephraim (1655-1742) married Abial, daughter of John Sanborn, who was a grandson of Rev. Stephen Bachiler, the founder of Hampton. This Ephraim was a brewer.

Guriat was the son of King Elidyr map Sandde. He inherited the crown of M
an in the late 8th century when the local population was a vast mixtu
re of the British and the Irish. His lasting memorial is the well-known Gu
riat Cross, originally erected near Maughold in the North of the Island.
He married,Esyllt, daughter and heiress of King Cynan Dindaethwy of Gwyne
dd and was succeeded by their son, Merfyn Frych.

Merfyn Frych (d 844), king of Gwynedd; son of Gwriad, probably a Ma
nx chieftain and reputed descendant of Llywarch Hen, by Ethyllt, a prince
ss of Gwynedd. On the death in 825, of Hywel ap Rhodri Molwynog, his mothe
r's uncle, hebecame king in Anglesey, and later, on the death of Hyw
el ap Caradog, appears to have acquired the kingship of the adjacent mainl
and cantrefs. Thus were united the inheritances of the last direst descend
ants in Gwynedd of the lineof Cunedda Wledig. He m. Nest, daughter of Cad
ell ap Brochwel of Powys. Rhodri Mawr was their son.

MERFYN FRYCH
with Merfyn Frych Cymru takes a great stride forward. In him Gwynedd h
ad a king of wide culture and penetrating political insight. He reinvigora
ted the culture of Gwynedd; he defended it successfully in a timeof turmo
il; he gave it strength to withstand the fierce attacks which tore at it f
rom every side. The Norsemen conquered a large part of England in the nin
th century; they held the Isle of Man and had established a powerful kingd
om, in Ireland around Dublin, only a few score miles from the shores of Cy
mru. In the first half of the tenth century they almost completely ruin
ed the fabric of western European civilisation. No Norse kingdom, howeve
r, was established on Welsh soil. They were successful only in giving the
ir names to portsand islands such as Swansea and Anglesey, Fishguard a
nd Bardsey, Milford andFlatholm. For this we have to thank the successi
on of outstanding leaders which Cymru had in the ninth and tenth centuri
es - Merfyn Frych, his son RhodriMawr, his grandson Anarawd and his great
-grandson Hywel Dda. In the eleventhcentury the whole of England was conq
uered by the Danes but Cymru remained afree land, living not under 'Dane-
law' but under the laws of Hywel Dda, thanks to Gruffydd ap Llywelyn and t
he loyalty of the people of Cymru to their leaders.
Merfyn came from the Isle of Man, the only Welsh king to do so. A sto
ne cross from this period has been discovered there which may be a memori
al to his father, Gwriad. Gwriad married Esyllt the daughter of Cynan ap R
hodri Molwynog, of the family of Maelgwn Gwynedd and Cunedda. In 818 Hyw
el ap Rhodri, Cynan's brother, died and Merfyn became the king of Anglese
y, which is moreopen than any other part of Cymru to attacks from the se
a. Perhaps his lineage would not have been sufficient in itself to give h
im the crown, were it not for his natural ability and the strength of h
is personality. At the death of Hywel ap Caradog in 825 he added the cantr
efs of Arfon to Anglesey, reuniting the heritage of the descendants of Cun
edda in Gwynedd. Merfyn made a greatenough name for himself for the Engli
sh to call Caer Segeint, in Arfon, Mirmanton - Merfyn's town. He married N
est, the sister of Cyngen, the king of Powys who raised the memorial ne
ar Llangollen. One of the sons of this marriage was Rhodri Mawr, who unit
ed the two kingdoms. Merfyn strengthened the tendency for large parts of C
ymru to recognise the authority of one prince, a tendency which develop
ed as the pattern of political development in the ensuing centuries. No
ra Chadwick refers to 'the gradual approximation to a Cymru united und
er a single family. It is I think the most remarkable feature of early Wel
sh history that the union of most of these kingdoms should have come abo
ut gradually with no record of conquest and no bloodshed. Those historia
ns who speak of the Welsh as a warlike people see Cymru only through the e
yes of the Norman conquerors, when the whole country became an armed fortr
ess on the defensive. The early history is very different - a history of p
eaceful development, of gradual unification by policy, and by a seri
es of royal marriages.'

She married Alphonso Rucci on April 5, 1956 in Brushton, NY and was a member of the Torne Valley Seniors, and the Woman's Club of Suffern. She is survived by her husband, Alphonso; three children, Michael (Gail) of Millinocket, Maine, Vicki (Roy) Freiman of Hillsborough, NJ, and Peter (Fern) of Pomona, NY; 5 grandchildren, Paul, Mark, Beth (Adam), David, and Allison, and 1 great-grandchild, Anna. Also 1 sister, Barbara (Victor) Fasolo of Tuxedo, NY and nephew, Michael and niece, Martha (Leo) Klein, and grandnephews, Nicholas and Andrew. A Family statement reads My Songbird is in Heaven, she awoke each morning with a song on her lips of songs of children songs and rhymes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern. Burial will follow at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, NJ. Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Scarr Funeral Home Inc., Route 202, Suffern.
