Appears in the 1820 Poll/Tax records for the Town of Epsom, NH as a stone mason. Was also appointed surveyor of town highways. A veteran of the War of 1812. David was listed in the poll taxes for 1820,1821, 1822, and was not subject to a poll tax in 1824. The 1840 census lists David as a 'head of household' resident of Concord, but on March 9, 1843, the Town of Epsom, NH paid the City of Concord $11.50 for the support of David Tandy. This shows that David came upon rough times financially.
I suspect that the reason this Tandy clan moved to Concord was for work in the granite quarries that were abundent in the 19th century.Almost to a man, the Tandys were stone masons, stone cutters and quarrymen. The Tandys of Epsom, NH were not well off financially, as there are records of various "warnings out" in Deerfieldand Brentwood, NH. Once they moved to Concord, they seemed to find financial security, became home and land owners.
The Tandys gravitated to the northern part of Concord, and that is where I believe most of the quarry work was. Ernest Holmes,Tandy
researcher, and "History of Concord... 1725 to... 1853.",by Sanborn, both mention that the David Tandy family were known (in North Concord )to be brawlers, and wouldn't back down from anyone.Calvin Tandy received a skull fracture on Nov. 3, 1851, in one of these altercations.

Rev. I. C. Knowlton, 1875 and reprinted as "Beginnings The Settlement of
The St. Croix Valley" by the same author, printed 1984, p 10, states the
following"
"The others, - James and Jeremiah Frost, Jacob Libbey and his sons,
Ebenezer and Jacob, Jr."
" Libbey's Lot was at the Cove .... Soon after their arrival, Daniel Hill,
Jacob Libbey, and Jeremiah Frost built a Saw-mill on Porters Stream."

!Since the Land Grant Index with land transaction in 1790 states Jacob
Libby, Jr., and the father was known as a squatter who occupied the land
prior to 1784, it stands to logic that Samuel Libby b: 9 Feb 1719/1720
would have been the "squatter" and his son Jacob Libby b: Abt 4 Oct
1747 was given the Land Grant. Most likely, thus, Samuel's son Jacob
was given the Jr. after his name since Jacob Libby Jr. b: 25 Jul 1729,
Samuel's brother, had most likely died at an early age, thus skipping a
generation between Samuel's father, Jacob Libby Sr. b: 25 May 1695. You
see, Samuel Libby, himself, just couldn't be Jacob Libby Sr. since that
was the name of his father, who died in NH in abt 1765.

The Tidy family has been difficult to trace back further than Elizabeth's father, who was born in Scarborough, Maine, between 1649 and 1655. In a book about New England genealogy, the author tells about two maiden ladies with that surname and sais that, when they pass on, the Tidy name will have disappeared in America; the line has "daughtered out." Elizabeth's mother, Sarah Libby, was the daughter of the immigrant, John Libby, who came from Wales and died in Scarborough, Maine. In 1676, they were living in Black Point Garrison.
