Viscount Montgomerie created in Ireland in 1622, MARRIAGE: Page 140 of the book, Origin and History of the Montgomerys, by B.G. de Montgomery states: In 1587 Montgomery married Elizabeth, daughter of Alexander Shaw, Laird of Sauchie...the families of Montgomery and Shaw were united by many bonds. BIOGRAPHY: From pages 140-143, Origin and History of the Montgomerys, by B.G. de Montgomery: Hugh, first Viscount of Great Ardes (1560-1636), was educated at Glasgow College. To complete his education, he went to France and stayed for some time at the French court. He afterwards repaired to Holland. Like his father, he joined a Dutch regiment and got a commission as a captain...After his father's death Montgomery returned to Scotland...Montgomery was able to keep the King informed about the attitude of the English nobility and gentry towards his claim to the English throne. This source of information was of great value to the King, who later on liberally rewarded Montgomery for his services. He was knighted in 1605, and...he and his sons Hugh and James were naturalized in England. On 3rd May 1622 he was raised to the peerage and created Viscount Montgomery of Great Ardes. This was not a distinction conferred upon a court favorite but the reward of valuable services...Montgomery had acquired large estates in Northern Ireland and was the leader of the plantation of that country at the beginning of the seventeenth century...Montgomery's acquisition of big domains in Ulster had taken place with the King's consent...Thus the country where Montgomery had settled was unhappy and devastated, but he laid balm upon the wounds and in a few years he had founded economically sound industries and turned large portions of Ulster into prosperous country...Montgomery used his enormous income for building and restoring churches and houses. DEATH: When he died in 1636 there was national mourning in Ulster and his funeral was celebrated with almost royal splendor. The peers of Scotland were represented on this occasion, and the Ulster King of Arms carried his sword and armorial shield.

He was a married to his wife Ruth at Fort Pownal or Bucksport,Maine .He was a
known resident of Bucksport,Mainefrom at least 15 Apr 1788 to 2 Mar 1797,when
he removed to Frankfort,Maine.He had owned property both in Bucksport and in
the Oak Point [ Winterport ] area of Frankfort,Maine.He went by the nickname of
Eben and on 8 Aug 1792,was elected the first Constable and Collector of
Bucksport,Maine.He eventually settled near relatives about 4 1/2 miles west of
Bald Hill Cove,in a back settlement of Frankfort called Goshen,which would
later become Winterport,Maine
In Sept & Oct 1805,Eben age 50 went though several land financing agreements
and changed his occupation from farmer to mariner/fisherman.The financing
arrangement may have been done to support the new fishing venture.By 18 Oct
1800,we find Eben being served with a Writ by another party from Castine,Maine
to recover a dets owed.The outcome of Writ and fishing ventures is not
known,but he appeared to be having problems.

Rochester N.H. in 174O-1743--about 1742 when Hatevil was 28 yrs old,after his
farther left for Rochester , Hatevil & family may have moved to Old York for
a while
his name is on the Wiscassit petition at that time or some what later he is
living on Jeremy Squam Island [ Westport ] later he is in the area on the west
bank of the Penobscot called Wheelersbough-Washington-Goshenand Frankfort
Maine.He served in the Revolutionary War at Fort Pownall,Prospect,Maine from 11 May 1777 to 1782

Jun 1821 he was certified non compas mentis,an insane person and poor man
he was in love with Sally Perkins,but she married John Gray -John Gray was
killed by a party of french and indian raiders and Sally was taked to
Canadian border.he followed them and killed the raiders .Sally died before
getting back to Brooksville Maine

I wrote on a place lying in the Northern Stream of Marsh River which Iwrote in
the year 1793 . the deed was witnessed by Abner Curtis & Tamson Curtis.The
deed was dated at Frankfort Maine on 23 April 179O & recorded on May 11 1795
[ Hancock/Waldo 6:229 179O ]he named as a son of Hatevil in a land deed-he
is listed next to his farther in 1790 census -in 1800 census he is inthat
part of Frankfort,Maine called Goshen and says he emigrated from Penobscot,
Maine ,He is over 45 years old

drafteers of the 1763 petition to Gov Bernard to secure right to the land
they had settled on at Magabagwaduce [Castine ]having been on the Fort
Pownall muster roll in 1762--the 1784 Majorbiguaduce census shows him as the
original owner in 1762 of the 100 acres now belonging to Luxford Goodwin --he
moved across the Penobscot to Frankfort Maine by 1790 census but is not a
head of a family in 1800 census--he lived in Penobscot Maine as original
settler
with 100 acres in 1762 with 5 people in 1784 the land was in the hands of
Luxford Goodwin

he emigrated from old York & he was born before 1755 but old enough to be a
soldier in 1762

Flora,Capt John Brisbane,from the retaken HMS Fox.he listed as an able
seaman was discharged on 9 JULY 1777 to the Lord Stanley prison ship.
He of Bucksport bought from Hatevil of Frankfort [ his father ] for 6O
pounds 1OOacres on which his father then lived,south of the lands of Dr.
Goodwin & north of James Colson [ brother ] deed was dated on 15 April 1788
& recorded on 14 June 1791 at Orrington Maine & personnaly acknowledged
there by Hatevil on 2O Jan 1791 [ HANCOCK 1:27/28 1788 ]

He was a married to his wife Ruth at Fort Pownal or Bucksport,Maine .He was a
known resident of Bucksport,Mainefrom at least 15 Apr 1788 to 2 Mar 1797,when
he removed to Frankfort,Maine.He had owned property both in Bucksport and in
the Oak Point [ Winterport ] area of Frankfort,Maine.He went by the nickname of
Eben and on 8 Aug 1792,was elected the first Constable and Collector of
Bucksport,Maine.He eventually settled near relatives about 4 1/2 miles west of
Bald Hill Cove,in a back settlement of Frankfort called Goshen,which would
later become Winterport,Maine
In Sept & Oct 1805,Eben age 50 went though several land financing agreements
and changed his occupation from farmer to mariner/fisherman.The financing
arrangement may have been done to support the new fishing venture.By 18 Oct
1800,we find Eben being served with a Writ by another party from Castine,Maine
to recover a dets owed.The outcome of Writ and fishing ventures is not
known,but he appeared to be having problems.
