He d. in 1626; willprovided at Litchfield, 1626; makes his only daughter, Edith, soleexecutrix.

Sir William Fowler, of Foxley and Castle House, b. about 1400; m.Cecelia, daughter of Nicholas Englesfield of Rycote, Co. Oxford, byJohanna, Daughter of Nicholas Clark of Rycote, Co. William Fowler, was b. in Foxley, Co. Bucks, about 1445. The only thingabout him we know of, is, that he was a joint tenant or owner of theManor of Cleware, Co. Berks, which formerly belonged to his anccestor,Sir John Foxley, of Foxley, and by him willed to his daughter Katharine,who m. John Warbleton and who in turn passes it to their daughterElizabeth who m. John Syferwadte and they in turn passed it to theirdaughter and co-heiress Margaret who m. David Breknoke and had two sons,John and Richard. The two following papers tell the story:
1 Calender of ancient deeds, Vol 2, B. 3690, p. 430. "Grant by Margaret,late wife of David Breknoke, deceased, and daughter, and Co-heiress ofJohn Syferwaste, to Richard Fowler, Thomas Fowler, William Fowler,Richard Chamberlaine, Thomas Rookes, Thomas Danvers and John Breknoke; ofa moiety of Cleware Manor, Co. Berks: also Letter of Atty. to ThomasWellesbourne, John Blackpall and William Rabbes, to deliver seisin of thesame, 5 March, 16 Edward IV, 1475."

"Demise by RichardChamberlaine, Thomas Fowler, Thomas Danvers, and John Breknoke andElizabeth his wife, to richard Breknoke, brother of said John, of amoiety of the manor of Cleware, Co. John Fowler married Mary, daughter of John Hubbard, probably as early as1646, and while they both were resident in Milford. He probably came toGuilford about the same time as his father-in-law, and bought the placewhich had belonged to Francis Bushnell the elder, and which he haddescended to his daughter Rebecca. The purchase was probably made earlyin 1647. On June 15, 1649, John Fowler was chosen one of the threeoverseers of the highways and Townsmen. From 1661 to 1665 he was aDeputy in Plantation Court. He was then made a freemen on May 30, 1650,and was chosen Marshal of the Plantation on June 10, 1652. On may 26,1658 at New Haven, he was appointed collector of the customs and excise.He was chosen Deputy of the General Court at New Have in 1661, 1663, and1664 and was 27 times delegate to the General Court at Hartford after theunion of the Colonies. In 1672 his list was ?160.7.0, the largest in the town ofGuilford. He died on September 14, 1676, wife died April 13, 1716, 6children.

Death of Frances F. Reese
"The many friends of Sister Frances Fox Reese will be pained to learn of her death, which took place at 2:30 o'clock this morning, August 13, at her home in the Fourteenth Ward. Though the lady was an invalid her death was a surprise to those most intimately associated with her, and was not anticipated, even by the physician in attendance, until a few minutes before it occurred. For about eight years she has been a great sufferer and has borne up with remarkable fortitude. For two years she was afflicted with fever and ague, which resulted in a tumor, and subsequent ulceration, which was the cause of death.
Frances Ellen Fox Reese was born in the Sixteenth Ward, this city, April 26, 1856. She was the daughter of Jesse W., Sen., and Eliza J. Gibbs Fox, and the wife of John H. Reese. She leaves one child, a boy about nine years of age. She was a lady of most estimable character, and was held in the highest esteem by all her acquaintances.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 15, at 10 a.m., at the residence of her parents, No. 256 W. First South Street. Friends of the family are invited to be present."

Taylor presided. Bishop F. Kesler offered the opening prayer. The speakers were Apostle Franklin D. Richards and President Angus M. Cannon. The benediction was pronounced by Elder George C. Riser. A long line of carriages followed the remains to the grave, where Elder T. E. Taylor made the dedicatory prayer."

In 1929 he transferred to the Newark, NJ sales office where he served as local office engineer and supervisor of application and service engineering. During this time he was involved in applications for various industries.
During the depression years of the early 1930's the electrification of the Pennsylvania Railroad between New York and Washington became one of the largest projects of that era. Mr. Plumer led the installation of electrical equipment
involved in the project .
During his assignment in New Jersey he became a member of the local American Legion serving as Post Adjudent for a number of years. He was also involved in the Town of Maplewood's annual Fourth of July celebration serving as judge during
morning track and field events and later in support of the circus and fireworks which were a part of the days program.
Each year at that time the Legion Post together with other community organizations prepared a musical review which was presented as a money raising project in support of local charities.. The event became so locally popular that each year
several performances were given to accomodate the large audiances. Mr. Plumer was a member of the chorus and played parts in several sketches.
In 1939, he transferred to the Buffalo, NY sales office where he again served as local office engineer and supervisor of several application and service engineers and in addition the local service shop. While on this assignment he was
engaged in the engineering and equipment installation at several power stations in the Niagara Frontier. He was also involved in the development of the first Jet airplane at the Bell Aircraft Company in Buffalo.
In 1945, he was transferred back to Schenectady where he servedas Superintendent of World Electrifications. In this capacity he became involved in the companies support of the Atomic developments at Oak Ridge and later at Hanford,
Washington.
Following the end of the war, he was appointed Manager of Engineering Practices for the Installation and Service Engineering Division. He continued in this capacity until his retirement in 1962.
In retirement he continued his involvement with the board of the local Boy's Club and his long association with the alumni chapter of the University of Maine where he served for several years as class secretary. In recognition of his
service he received the Maine Bear award for service. He also devoted much time to his hobbies of woodworking, stamp collecting, golf and music.
Mr. Plumer was a Life member of the IEEE , the Mohawk Golf Club and the Mohawk club of Schenectady.

Mr. Plumer moved from his birthplace of Schenectady, NY to Maplewood, NJ and attended grade school there. When he was 13 years of age his family moved to Kenmore, NY, a suburb of Buffalo where he attended high school. During these years he
was a member of a local
Scout Troop earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Upon graduation from high school in 1944 he attended Harvard University as a member of the Army Specialized Training Program Reserve (ASTPR), but was called to active duty upon completion of
one term. He received Basic Training in the Field Artillery at Fort Bragg North Carolina. After completing training he was sent to France where he joined the 109th Field Artillery Battalion of the 28th Division receiving battle stars for the
Rhur campaign and Southern France battle for the Colmar Pocket.
Discharged from service in 1946 Mr. Plumer attended Cornell University receiving a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree in 1950.
Upon graduation from college, he was employed by the General Electric Company in several engineering capacities in Schenectady, NY, Cleveland, Oh. and Philadelphia, Pa.
Upon retirement he moved to Damariscotta, Me. where he now lives.

Hi, Cyrus Howard was my great grandfather, maybe we can swap info, I have
his Civil War records from the national archives, Robert A. Howard, Sr.,
son of Daniel Howard, grandson of Lewis Dell Howard who was one of
Cyrus's sons.
From Robert A. Howard, Sr.'s records:
Carpenter, contractor and Builder. Spent most of his life living in
Maine, but lived for a while in Lowell, Mass., at 92 years old, was the
last living member, out of 69, of the Joseph E. Colby Post, No. 41, Grand
Army of the Republic, of Rumford, Maine. He was a member of the Swift
River Grange, No . 107 at Mexico, Maine for 35 years . When Cyrus was 82,
the G. A. R. hall at Rumford Center, Maine, was destroyed by fire. He
took the $800.00 insurance received fromthe hall, and solicited
subscription which raised the amount to $3000.00, with which he had a
fine memorial monument erected in memory of the heroes of the Civil War.
He cast his first vote for Abraham Lincoln in 1860 and told withpride of
voting a Republican ticket for every president since. He recalled working
his first job at the age of 10, gathering potatoes at 10 cents a day. An
account of his 92nd birthday was broadcast that morning from Station WCSH
in Portland, Maine. Newspaper clipping relating his 92nd birthday, from a
clipping in Sagamore, Mass., April 7, 1931, where he was staying at the
home of his daughter, Catherine Goggin. Newspaper clipping from Rumford,
Maine on the day of his death. Died at the home of his son, L. D. Howard,
Harlow Hill, Mexico, at 1:50 A.M., Wednesday morning.

Cyrus Lewis Howardb.7 April 1839, d. August 31,1932.
Cyrus was born in Winthrop Me. Son of Phoebe Maxim of the Wayne Maxim's,
and Daniel Howard (Ziphion 5)(Daniel 4)Robert3)(John 2)(John l,Being the
John Howard (Haward)that came to Mass. In 1635 andworked as a carpenter
and surveyor for miles Standish. In 1643 he was one ofthe 54 founders of
the town of West Bridgwater.( Note that most of the Howard's have been
carpenters even today!)
It is interesting to note that Cyrus'sbirth date is confirmed by a
family Bible owned by a Grandson Donald Howard.
Cyrus was a Joiner and Carpenter of high quality all his life,he kept a
large vegetable garden up till his last years and enjoyed giving much of
this tohis friend's and neighbor's.
Cyrus had 3 wives' -- Sarah Richardson Fox of Roxbury, Me. .b. 1840 m
oct.25 1860 d oct23
1867 at age. 27 yr's 8mo..

Nov.- 3- 1908, d?-He enlisted in the Infantry march 28, 1865 as a Private
Co. C. 1st Battalion, Me. Volunteer's, at Augusta, Me. And was sent to
Stevenson Station, Virginia. While there, He contracted Malarial
poisoning 20th April and was taken by ambulance to Paterson Park
Hospital. Then the next day to General Hickey Hospital in Harpers Ferry.
He was given an honorable Discharge at Augusta, Me. after serving about 5
months, most of that time in hospital's, he returned to Winthrop for
about 3 years. Then to Milton, Me. Lowell, Mass. Sumner, Me. And then to
Rumford where he evidently spent the rest of his life. Cyrus was Married
to Sarah R. Fox, in 1860 and they had 4 children, Frederick Scott
b.6-18-61 Olive L,b.2-8-63 Charles D b. 3-22-64. and Sarah R 10-4-67.
He thenMarried Hannah B. Johnson in 1868 and they also had 4 children
Daniel G. b 11-29-69 Lewis Dell. b. 6-15-71 (our grandfather) Katherin,b.
7-15-76 and Ida M. 5-15-81.
Cyrus applied for and after many tries and physicals, received a
disability pension of $4.00 per month about 1888.

Foxcroft began life as a grant to Bowdoin College from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1794. In 1801, Joseph E. Foxcroft purchased the land from the trustees of Bowdoin and later that year the area was surveyed and settlers trickled into the wilderness. It, too, was incorporated in 1821.

Foxcroft began life as a grant to Bowdoin College from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1794. In 1801, Joseph E. Foxcroft purchased the land from the trustees of Bowdoin and later that year the area was surveyed and settlers trickled into the wilderness. It, too, was incorporated in 1821.
