MEDWAY – Nathan A. "Nate" York, 51, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, after a tragic car accident took his life unexpectedly Sept. 3, 2011. He was born March 27, 1960, in Millinocket, to Ray A. and Priscilla A. York.
Nate graduated from Schenck High School, East Millinocket, in 1979. Upon graduation, he went to work at East Millinocket Paper Mill, where he was employed for more than 30 years. His work ethic and commitment to excellence was exemplified in everything he did. Nate was first and foremost a family man. When not working in the mill, you would find him hiking a mountain or forest trail, fishing at one of his favorite fishing holes, or going to his hunting camp that he built with his dad and brother Barney in 1982. He loved to attend his children's sporting events, and supported them faithfully in whatever endeavor they participated in. He was an avid Boston sports fan, but was especially devoted to the Red Sox. He was known for bringing a TV outside and watching the Red Sox by the campfire. Nate loved going to his mom and dad's for his morning coffee and the "best" breakfast in Medway, sitting at the kitchen table having some great fellowship. Nate was the family fix-it guy, a handyman in so many ways, whether it was creating something with wood, a garage mechanic keeping the family vehicles maintained, or troubleshooting the family computers. Nate loved taking pictures and wherever he was, his camera was never far away. The York valley will seem quieter in the mornings, as we will miss the rumble of his tractor going up to his woodlot where he used to cut his firewood. He was a very humble, meek man, yet having a wonderful sense of humor, and a man of great integrity and wisdom. In Christ he was a deep brook that moved slowly – his love for God sure, strong and never-ending.
Nathan is survived by his beloved wife, Kim (Young) York, the love of his life for 29 years; sons, James Landry and his wife, Trish, of Bangor and Jerome York of Medway; and daughters, Whitney York and Desiree York, both of Medway. Also surviving are his parents, Ray and Priscilla York of Medway; and his siblings, Hattie Damon and her husband, Dan, of Smithfield, Altona McLaughlin of Medway, Barney York and his wife, Terri, of Medway, Noel York and his wife, Kelly, of Medway, Jerry York and his wife, Kelly, of Medway and Joni Campbell and her husband, Steve, of East Millinocket; one grandson, Corbin Landry; several nieces and nephews; and very special cousins, the O'Donal boys. He is also survived by his loving in-laws that he adored, Herbert "Sonny" and Myrna Young, and their children, Herbert Jr. "Herbie" and his wife, Gail, and children of Mars Hill, and Karen Lyons and her husband, Darrel, of Medway.

Probably the Biblical Darda. Homer's Illiad calls Dardanus the son of t
he pagan god Zeus, son of Cronus. There are three other versions ofhis anc
estry.
1. Dardanus son of Cambo Blascon. I Kings 4:34
2. Dardanus, Jupiter, Saturn, Celius, Cretus, Ciprius, Kittim, Javan,Japet
h, Noah.
3. Dardanus, Jupiter, Saturn, Pallor, Picus, Pelus, Tros, Ros, Mizraim,Ha
m, Noah.

The royal house of Troy
The traditional founder of Troy’s famed royal house was Dardanus, a few ge
nerations prior to Tros and Ilus: "Dardanus, in Greek legend, the son of Z
eus and the Pleiad Electra, mythical founder of Dardania on the Hellespo
nt [the nearby strait separating Dardania from Hellas or Greece now call
ed the Dardanelles]. He was the ancestor of the Dardans of the Troad [t
he region surrounding Troy] . ..
"According to tradition . . . Dardanus fled from Arcadia [in the midd
le of Mycenaean Greece] across the sea to Samothrace [a northern Aegean is
land]. When that island was visited by a flood, he crossed over to the Tro
ad . . . Being hospitably received by Teucer (ruler of Phrygia), he marri
ed Teucer’s daughter Bateia and became the founder of the royal house of T
roy" ("Dardanus,"Encyclopaedia Britannica, Micropaedia, 1985, Vo
l. 3, p. 884).
In his acclaimed Story of Civilization, historian Will Durant writes: "W
ho were the Trojans? An Egyptian papyrus mentions certain ‘Dardenui’ as am
ong the allies of theHittites at the battle of Kadesh (1287 [B.C.]
); it is likely that these werethe ancestors of the ‘Dardenoi’ who in Hom
er’s terminology are one with the Trojans. Probably these Dardani we
re of Balkan [Greek] origin, crossed the Hellespont in the sixteenth centu
ry [B.C., though the 15th is perhaps more likely] . . . Herodotus [Greek "
father of history" of the fifth century B.C.], however, identified the Tro
jans with the Teucrians [note the eponymous King Teucer already mentioned
], and the Teucrians, according to [the first-century-B.C. Greco-Roman geo
grapher] Strabo, were Cretans who settled in the Troad, perhaps after t
he fall of Cnossus. Both Crete and the Troad had a sacred Mt. Ida" (Vol.
2: The Life of Greece, 1966, p. 35).
This is all becoming much clearer. Again, these people were evidently Isra
elites—most likely Judahites or Jews. Indeed, even many of the Mycenaean r
oyal houses of southern Greece appear to have sprung from the royal linea
ge of Crete, which seems to have been Jewish.
It is interesting to consider that, according to Homer, the shields of t
he Greek leaders in the Trojan War were decorated with heraldic eagles a
nd lions. These were the Israelite tribal emblems of Dan and Judah respect
ively. The lion also appeared on the shields of the Trojans.
This is made all the morecompelling by the following quote from Biblic
al Archaeologist magazine: "Lions, we may remark, are not frequent in Gree
ce" (March 1996, p. 17). And yet over the "Lion Gate" of Mycenae, an ancie
nt relief of two very large lions flanking a pillar still greets tourist
s. Virtually the same emblem later appeared across the Aegean in Phryg
ia in western Turkey—on the rock-cut tomb of Arslantas ("Lion Stone") ne
ar Afyon. Perhaps this was due to the symbol being carried by Mycenaean ro
yalty, which was later evidently transferred to Miletus—the Milesians th
en influencing neighboring Phrygia. Is it possible that in these emble
ms we are seeing the lion of Judah?
Added to the intriguing possibility is this fact from a Harvard travel pub
lication: "The excavated site of ancient Mycenae extends over a large tra
ct of rough terrain tucked between Mt. Agios Elias to the north and Mt. Za
ra to the south" (Let’s Go Greece & Turkey, 1998, p. 146, emphasis added
). In fact the royal palace sits right at the base of Mount Zara. Could My
cenaean royalty have

After word of the Alamo falling and her husband being killed there, the
family began the flight to the east with most of the people walking. Andrew Kent's wife Elizabeth had nine children with her; Sarah 17,
Isaac 15, Louisa almost 14, Bosman 12, Elizabeth 10, Mary Ann 8, Nancy Jane 6, Andrew Jackson 3 1/2, and Phinette 16 months. When they came to streams the familes were broken up to cross on rafts and small boats. Bosman, Mary Ann and Andrew Jackson became separated from the others. Andrew Jackson, who was only 3 1/2, was never found again. Every family remembers the name of the lost little child, Andrew Jackson Kent. The thought of a frightened little 3 1/2 year old boy hiding under some bushes waiting for a father who never will come, gives a lasting memory. Elizabeth age 10, and Phinette, 16 months, seems to have died of exposure and hurried buried along the way, their graves are lost.
